ddoutel -> problems with unit selection? (8/5/2001 12:47:00 PM)

First, it's wonderful to see such a polite group of gamers here...often not the case elsewhere. Also great to see folks like Wild Bill so active on the board!
On to my question: I played SP way back in the DOS days, and loved it, but lost touch for a variety of reasons...anyway, I'm VERY RUSTY on the use of the interface, and having problems with unit selection for the Tulagi Campaign in particular. Wild Bill says in his introduction that I'll need a company of raiders, a platoon of engineers, and landing craft to get on the island. The problems are as follows:
1. No matter which raider company type I buy, I don't have enough points left over to buy the engineers, let alone the landing craft.
2. Sometimes, when I click the buy button, I only get certain elements of the unit you're viewing, not all of it, even if I have the points.
3. If I do manage to get through the unit selection and into deployment and try to load one too many units on an lvt, the game doesn't prompt me as to whether i want to load anyway, I just lose the unit, a costly thing to have happen! I know it says in the manual that you will lose the unit if you continue to load, but that this happens WITHOUT a prompt is particularly annoying...
Can any of you folks tell me what I'm doing wrong?
Thanks in advance,
