mine_field -> Getting the most out of build points: a few questions (3/11/2004 12:43:17 PM)

I am mainly concerned with playing against the AI. I have everything on except C&C. True Troop on, Rarity on. First, I have noticed some characters following a selection's name. For some it is obvious it indicates an upgraded weapon. Is there any pattern to the +, -, and * (an especially irritating one since this makes me think the unit is spotted if I don't pay attention) marks? When buying a combination, say a company, I have noticed that some times a unit isn't available. I realize this is due to the rarity on. It appears that even if I don't receive the unit's that are red'ed out, I am still deducted points. Another issue with rarity is that if you purchase a unit, then get your money back, it deducts that unit from the limit so that I have actually made a unit unavailable just by having second thoughts. Also regarding combinations, what is the advantage? I initially assumed there was cost advantage, but this doesn't seem to be the case. I can only guess it is to help avoid limits with the number of groupings (forgive me, new to this and don't know terminology). I have also heard of some people removing parts of combinations to get money back. Is this from another version than 8.0? I can only seem to be able remove a whole section (everything that leader is in charge of). Thanks in advance.
