Raverdave -> A quick raid. (7/24/2005 10:46:57 AM)

A quick night raid on Rangoon delivers up ten or so destroyed jap a/c on the ground, not really worth the effort, but it is more of a nusance raid than anything else. But the raid did show that Luskan has a lot of bloody units parked there.....31 in all.....and that begs the question, does he still have designs on India? Or is he simply looking to hit Akyab?????
Either way I am now continuing with my plans to reinforce southern India and also Akyab. I now have all of my Hurricane Sqaudrons upgraded to Spitfires so one would think that Luskan would be mad to try it. But then again who really knows what lurks in the mind of a banana? I also lost USS Amberjack today. Her crew will be missed.

Luskan -> RE: A quick raid. (7/24/2005 12:13:29 PM)

Raver just got smacked 600 points for not withdrawing British stuff. is that 600 political points (no meaning any more) or 600 game points, which is the equivalent of loosing 2 CVs . . .

I hate it when night bombings provide recon intelligence. He shouldn't have seen those units . . .

Raverdave -> RE: A quick raid. (7/24/2005 12:16:00 PM)

600 points for NOT sending back two RN DDs..............................DDs which I might point out I don't have ! Luskan....it is Political Points you greedy bugger. But the point is how can I withdraw ships that I don't got?[:(]

WhoCares -> RE: A quick raid. (7/24/2005 7:43:33 PM)

I don't expect you to seriously bother about the loss of PPs by now. The game is almost 14 month old which makes 50x400 = 20k PP you got by now. PPs are only a problem early in game, except if you keep switching divisions from HQ to HQ...

If you see it different or have additional comments add your insights to Wiki: Political Points and Wiki: Spending Political Points [:D]

Raverdave -> RE: A quick raid. (7/25/2005 10:48:09 AM)

Yeah but I've been using my PP each month on this and that.....so much so that I have stuff all in the bank...infact I am in debit to the tune of 287 PPs. I just hope to hell that they don't charge interest[;)]

A quite turn with not one shot fired in the entire Pacfic.

51st Highland Div -> RE: Aussie Affair, Beta's Twilight (7/25/2005 3:57:21 PM)

Must admit this is my favourite of all the AAR's..probably due to the level of sarcasm[:)]

I'm in debt to the tune of thousands of PPs in my game, and its only September 42. I've not spent one for months.

It's that miser, Winston, to blame, hoarding his toy ships.

WhoCares -> RE: A quick raid. (7/25/2005 5:28:57 PM)

Did you send the british fleet to bombard Tokyo or do you just not return ships when requested???

Anyway, just add your experiences to the Wiki so we can document all the facettes of this part of the game [8D]

Luskan -> RE: A quick raid. (7/27/2005 12:22:56 PM)

Another very quiet turn. I just found 50+base forces sitting on their asses doing nothing (they accrue at Tokyo - earlier int he game I moved 50 of them to osaka, planning to send them all over the joint, got distracted, forgot about them.

Right now 50 small transport tfs are going to about 50 different airfields throughout the pacific.

1275psi -> RE: A quick raid. (7/28/2005 12:57:44 AM)

These 50 base forces - were they at full TOE?

Are they going all over, or do you group some together making bigger bases.
Im still trying to work out what is best, a handful of 200 plus capacity bases, or lots and lots of 30 a/c ones

Im so desperate for troops i watch each one grow slowly in japan like a mother hen over her chicks[:'(]

Luskan -> RE: A quick raid. (7/28/2005 3:49:55 PM)

A handful of big bases is easy prey for allied uber bombers.
Easier to do 20 medium bases.

They were all at full TOE.

Nah, I followed orders and sent them back. I'd rather loose PPs than give Luskan some extra "free" game points.

So we have a few quiet turns and he ends up "Finding" 50 base units just sitting on their collective arses'?
[8|] Brillant.

Raverdave -> RE: A quick raid. (7/31/2005 1:41:34 PM)

Still not much happening. We are both busy just sorting out supply issues. Combat is limited to yet another raid on Rabal just to keep their heads down, but there is little left there to bomb.

Luskan -> RE: A quick raid. (8/2/2005 12:33:35 PM)

And play is slowed now that I have a bit of an IT issue. Getting there though.

Raverdave -> RE: A quick raid. (8/3/2005 3:25:07 PM)

His IT issue is that he can't find the "Any" key.[:D]

Yeah i have a problem finding that as well...must be the European keyboard [:'(]

Raverdave -> RE: A quick raid. (8/5/2005 3:04:02 PM)

Quick update........ Luskan is still MIA with 'puter problems so everything is in a holding patten. We will get back to the war as soon as banananananananana boy has got it fixed.

Luskan -> RE: A quick raid. (8/5/2005 4:21:47 PM)

puter fixed but now away with work. 24 hours and play will resume.

Didn't return any ships. They were mostly in the Pacific so I couldnt even if I wanted to. [;)]

Winston wanted a CV and two BBs back in 1942, that cleaned out my PPs in good order.

Raverdave -> Shock at Tarawa (8/7/2005 1:23:53 PM)

Well I got a move from the banana boy and it was not a turn that I enjoyed watching. I have been trying to sus out what was on the Tarawa group of Islands without alerting ratbrain what I was upto, not easy to do, because I didn't want to make a move and find the jap CV force sitting waiting for me. So instead having not seen or heard anything on the intel screen, and having had a couple of subs sitting one hex away and not seeing any ships move in or out, I decide to do some recon by fire and sent in the USMC Recon Battalion who promptly shock attacked some 700+ jap troops dug in. The losses where so heavy that I fear that the entire unit will be lost next turn. Well at least I now know what he has there.[8|]

Oliver Heindorf -> RE: Shock at Tarawa (8/7/2005 11:57:01 PM)

recon by force, nothing unusual but I think there is no way out...

Raverdave -> RE: Shock at Tarawa (8/9/2005 3:51:19 PM)

Another turn paaes with little or no action. My force on Tarawa is destroyed as I had thought. Not much else to report except to say that the logistical arm is flat out and will be for the next few months.

Luskan -> RE: Shock at Tarawa (8/10/2005 1:58:17 PM)

Pretty quiet.

Raverdave -> RE: Shock at Tarawa (8/10/2005 4:24:33 PM)

......................almost too quiet.

51st Highland Div -> RE: Shock at Tarawa (8/10/2005 4:36:21 PM)

Yes he must be up to something...[:D]

Luskan -> RE: Shock at Tarawa (8/13/2005 4:33:24 AM)

Air battles appeared this turn to spice things up.

Raver has put hundreds of aircraft in his last base in northern china (completely cut off from supply) not sure how this is possible to maintain, but it was a big airstrike. Seems China is no longer one big happy training ground for my pilots.

At Kendai Raver launched 130 P-38s with a few bombers in tow. My 20 odd fighters met them and I lost 22, Raver lost 10 in the air to air combat and another 6 on the way home, so 22 to 16. Kendari is harder to defend than all the other bases because there are no other great airfields in close proximity.

I sank a couple of allied subs. nothing too exciting. And murdered those yanks on Tarawa.

Raverdave -> RE: Shock at Tarawa (8/13/2005 10:42:15 AM)

22 Jap planes for 16 of my P-38s and I will point out that these guys were greenhorns. It is a good ratio that i can sustain but Luskan can't, and the ratio will only get better in my favour as time goes on. As I said, these guys were very green with exp of an average of 58 !

Capt. Harlock -> RE: Shock at Tarawa (8/13/2005 10:29:08 PM)

I realize that this is getting into the microsoopic details of the game, but does losing planes on the way home give Raver a better chance to rescue the pilots?

Luskan -> RE: Shock at Tarawa (8/14/2005 12:24:40 PM)

Nope - the sharks eat them.
