If you want to discuss game development then you´re better of at the various community boards and game developer websites such as the GAMA developer site called Gamasutra, a game support / community forum is a bad place for it.

I'm specifically interested in Matrix's flavor, not the general gaming developer communities. They are all focused on the big ticket stuff, RTS, Sports, FPS, which I could care less about. I have all sorts of books, white papers, and such on modern 3D game development from DirectX, OpenGl, Level designers, game engines like Unreal and so on, but I could care less about that. I'm interested in the turn based wargame genre only, and this one of the few places in that genre where the company staff actually communicates with people. Do your 8 or so programmers use those sites? If so, which ones, specifically?

I have the same issue with US carriers only. I can review IJN carriers without a problem, but if I select a US carrier the game crashes to desktop. I have the latest drivers and the lastest DX. I will rename the sound files and see what happens.

Go into your scen directory, make a backup copy of wpc001.dat and replace it with a copy of wpc006.dat

It will resolve that crash.

Thanks, Mr. Frag. I did the renaming of the sound file; it did not work. I will try your suggestion next.

Put your sound back ... the tutorial crash looking at ships is completely unrelated to the sound issue. You might be perfectly fine with your sound [;)]

I put the sound back and made the modifications you suggested. It worked. Turn one inputs complete. I am in your debt.

Naw, just have fun and hook your friends on it too [;)]

After changing wpc001.dat to wpc006.dat, Im having no problems with accessing allied CV's during the tutorial. Additionally, Im having no sound problems during combat. I was nearly thru the tutorial when it CTD, so I think Ill start one of the other scenarios....

BTB, Im having a great time :-)

Did as you said Mr Frag but the game still crashes whenever the AA-sound is about to be played. [&:]

Do you make a copy of 6 and rename it to 1, overwriting 1 with 6

I overwrote 1 with 6 and I get the same CTD.

Zorfwaddle -> RE: Game crash (7/2/2004 5:17:47 PM)

Here is what I did:

rename wpc001.dat to wpc001bak.dat

Copy wpc006.dat; pasted it to same directory; should read "Copy of wpc006.dat" (w/o quotes)

rename Copy of wpc006.dat to wpc001.dat

Went back into Tutorial, gave the IJN side their move (w/o any planning) and then for the allied side, formed a CV TF and gave them orders; clicked on the Lady Lex and no problems.

Please look at the anchored FAQ ... follow sound problem instructions.
