Kevin E. Duguay -> Russian OOB Trying to fix? (6/29/2004 10:03:03 AM)

Working on a Fix for the Russian oob but I need about two free UNITS slots. The question is what fortification units are not used in senerios that are in the game now? I could also make better fortifications out of the ones not used. I want to leave as much alone as I can this is why I'm asking. Any help will be, well, Helpfull[:)]

Some formation inclusions, include motorized 82mm mortar units, Heavy mortar units with transport, (Mororized heavy mortar units? Division asset 107-120mm mtr) And re makes of some weapons, squads and formations. Three weapons that I created or changed were 086 RPG 43. I added a HE capability equil to a hand grenade so that unit with the weapon would not need hand grenades. This frees up a weapons slot. I also added a new weapon the RPG 40, this was basicly an enlarged stick grenade. No heat charge just a bigger bomb. I gave it HEAT so that again I could use it as a dule weapon, both AT and HE, although much less than the RPG 43. After all it was only a larger form of the existing Soviet stick grenade anyhow. I left most of the infantry unit that had molitovs as AT weapons alone.

I need testers, any volenteers are welcome.

I do this for love of the game and MATRIX.

PS, There may be some dispute over using a weapons slot to reproduce two different weapons so to speak. But I do not see this as a problem. Don't tank guns fire AP and HE? Why can't certain grenades have the same atributes? If I would have thought of this earlier I would have submitted it.

PSS, I wrote down all units and formations New and CHANGED effected FYI.[;)]

For my money, you could get rid of some of the aircraft units, since this IS a "land warfare game"..Really,how many kinds of planes do you need to strafe and make a one-time appearance?[;)]
Historical note..My dad was strafed by American P-47's more often than by German planes, lending further credence to my belief that the difference between an Me 109G6 and an FW 190 A6 might have been lost on his unit..(A plane is a plane, and only the size or nationality was of any real concern)..??
Don't stress Kevin..
Just wanted you to know we do read and appreciate your contributions.

I'll look in to this plane idea. Maybe loose a bomber formation or two. Hmmmmmmm......

Good point. I think I will take that into consideration the next time I am fiddling around with the OOB's.

I did not forget about this! Still working on it, Im trying not to mess up any of the published scenarios. Tough job. I should have results soon.

Kevin, you should consider MegaCam LV as well, when fiddling with the russian OOB![X(] AFAIK many of the forts are used for various LV scenarios!

Could be that removing some lend lease aircraft would be the only option to avoid "damage", but I canīt tell for sure off course.[&:]

Im staying away from the forts but an seriously considering changing sone of the naval gun units(only the large one) and the multiple level bomber units except the two level bomber unit. But if things work out I may not even have to mess with these. So far I have been able to create the formations I need with only mino changes to existing formations or useing existing units to make new formations. Will be pounding away at it tonight again!

Thanks for the input, it is always welcome!
