Armored infantry (the funny translation to English being stormtrooper, hehe). Only a 1 year conscription though, we dont have a proffessional army [:)]

US Army Airborne Ranger Infantry 1974-1982 then as a AH1 Cobra pilot from 1982 -2000 then as an aviation consultant on the Comanche program from 2000 - 2004..now living on a mountain in Idaho with excellent fields of fire:)

I also have two kids in the army.
3/7-3rd Infantry Division and
Light Infantry unit-82nd Airborne
both serve in combat battalions, no women, I told them.

Naval Aviation Maintenance (AMDO), O-3, 1982-88, VP-6 & HSL-41.

My dad was Regular Army, last unit was HQ&HQ Co, 2/28 Infantry, !st Infantry Division, Lai Khe Vietnam 67-68. Agent Orange finally got the old Sarge ten years later. Rest At Ease, soldier.

Still in... 22 yrs and counting... Armor officer now working in my secondary area of Engineers with the US Army Corps of Engineers, in Wash DC, as the Chief of Plans, working on future military contingencies. My recent work in OIF, was as the G3 (OPS) officer for Task Force RIO (Restore Iraq Oil)... With less than 45 days to plan and deploy for the saving the Iraqi oil fields, fighting the well fires and getting oil production back up... to help rebuild Iraq [>:]

Worked with a great team of Brits and USMC guys/gals to make it all happen. [&o]

U.S. Coast Guard (72-83) - all sorts of new and different things - Operations Officer USCGC BIBB (WHEC31), Narcotics Interdiction Intelligence Officer for Atlantic Area, Pollution Incident Investigator, Marine Safety Inspector, Law Enforcement Boarding Officer (fisheries & narcotics emphasis)

US Navy, Chief Electronics Technician (retired), 1978-1998. Served in many commands in Norfolk, VA and San Diego CA, plus a year deployed out of Guam too. Saw lots of the Pacific region including OZ, my favorite port visits were Perth and Sydney in my 20 years.

Been a HQ weenie as an OR analyst since 1995.

USAF '78 - '95 retired at 17 years. Tactical Space Communications Supervisor. Kid mentioned it earlier, but it is weird watching shows on History channel, Discovery, etc. about systems I was debriefed on... Got a laugh teaching ASCII code when I mentioned to the younger generation in my class about something called a "teletype". Great times, great people, wouldn't trade it for the world. [:)]

Retired USMCR 1963-91. Air Support Radar Team. Ground-controlled night/cloud bombing. Pre-GPS, we were achieving similar accuracy from 15000 ft. 50m CEP for a 485m frag radius on a 500 lb MK-82 bomb.

US Navy Nuclear Electrician 1987-1993. After training served my entire stint on the USS Enterprise CVN-65. Kinda wish I could go back in, but my health won't allow it.

Went into the Navy BECAUSE of my love for the Pacific Theatre. Guess what my favorite carrier is? :)

LT USN 1997-present. Naval Aviator. Flew Hornets from JFK in Afghanistan and just got back early from the GW in the Persian Gulf(Iraq). My squadron is still out there. Moving on to operational test and a Super Hornet transition.

My military duty lasted exactly 30 seconds: the time to ask the clerk at the Dutch consulate in Paris if I would ever be called up and for her to reply that as long as I lived abroad it wouldn't happen.

Australian Regular Army 85-88. Spent my time in an ARW (Ammunition Repair Workshop).

(just picture the Bugs Bunny cartoon where Bugs is ever so gently tapping on artillery fuses checking for duds....)

Luftwaffe 1991-1992 FlaRakG 26, a Patriot Geschwader. Only 1 year becasue of the draft (?) here.
