Robert,

Did this happen as a sound was being played? Please try to see if it happens again - based on your specs, I gather sound drivers are updated?

Regards,

- Erik

rawink -> RE: Crash to Desktop During Combat (7/2/2004 12:10:32 AM)

but it's from 2003!!!

let me check this out and update if need be .. then get back to you

rawink -> RE: Crash to Desktop During Combat (7/2/2004 12:12:11 AM)

a new one was release march 04.. am DL now.. will report back

rawink -> RE: Crash to Desktop During Combat (7/2/2004 12:21:26 AM)

updated driver to newest..

Crash

set DX setting to basic accelration for sound..

Crash

for what it's worth I can hear the aircraft diving sound effect fine. It plays for the recon flights without issue.. it's only when an opposing aircraft comes up that it crashes.

Mr.Frag -> RE: Crash to Desktop During Combat (7/2/2004 12:26:27 AM)

That sucks ... something to be said for building your own machine ...

Rename your sound directory until the 2by3 guys figure it out. Should get you running.

rawink -> RE: Crash to Desktop During Combat (7/2/2004 12:35:49 AM)

renamed directory , it worked.

this machine was free from work. I upgraded the video and sound of course..

:) Will install on my notebook later, it doesnt have SD sound.

Erik Rutins -> RE: Crash to Desktop During Combat (7/2/2004 12:49:14 AM)

Robert,

Good to hear, we'll get this worked out so you can hear sound again. When you have some free time (if ever again ;-), could you post a DXDiag file from your machine here for us? Thanks.

Regards,

- Erik

Dabo -> RE: Crash to Desktop During Combat (7/2/2004 1:39:28 AM)

I've got the same problem,
Renaming the Sound folder fixes the problem

Win 2k SP4 DirectX 9.b
Athlon XP 2100+
512 MB RAM
Nvidia Geforce4 MX 440
C-Media CMI8738/C3DX (integrated on the MB)

See instructions pinned at the top for producing DXDIAG dump for the developers.

Dabo -> RE: Crash to Desktop During Combat (7/2/2004 1:45:25 AM)

can I attach the file or should I cut&paste it?

Email the file to support@matrixgames.com with a note that it is for the WitP sound crash. I'm sure they'll get it into 2by3's hands.

Dabo -> RE: Crash to Desktop During Combat (7/2/2004 1:52:03 AM)

thanks

Grotius -> RE: Crash to Desktop During Combat (7/2/2004 3:58:51 AM)

I'm also having the sound trouble. I'll try updating drivers and if that doesn't work, I'll rename the sound file and e-mail dxdiag to the support address Mr. Frag mentioned.

Germ29 -> RE: Crash to Desktop During Combat (7/2/2004 4:33:26 AM)

Hello, having the same problem. Tried all scenarios, and game crashes rifgt at AAA fire. Air recon ok. Saw a torpedo attack, it ran ok. Dog fights ran all the way through but when it ends as soon as aaa fire comes it crashes.
I checked my drivers all were up to date except sound it now is and still crashes.
My system:
HP pent4 2.53ghz, 512ram,DX9.0b, realtek audio drv 5.10.0.5620

Going to try nosound name change.
I did rundxdiag and checked sound, it all passed. I need to redoit to send in.
hope this helps[:)]

Germ29 -> RE: Crash to Desktop During Combat (7/2/2004 4:51:19 AM)

renaming sound to nosound worked. I will make DX report soon. The game looks awesome. Thanks guys.

mjk428 -> RE: Crash to Desktop During Combat (7/2/2004 7:03:30 AM)

Same as the above.

Workaround seems to work OK.

Sent my DxDiag.txt to support@matrixgames.com.

Arnir -> RE: Crash to Desktop During Combat (7/2/2004 8:09:14 AM)

I'm in the same boat as above. (Posted in a different thread).

Workaround works. Sent my dxdiag info in.

To make it more amusing, my good desktop CTDs and my old laptop works fine. [&:][:D]

Viking67 -> RE: Crash to Desktop During Combat (7/2/2004 8:20:50 AM)

Same - almost identical Dell machine as rawink

Grotius -> RE: Crash to Desktop During Combat (7/2/2004 7:21:36 PM)

I renamed the sound directory and the game now runs fine, albeit without sound. I've e-mailed in my dxdiag, but I'm happy to post it here too if Matrix wishes.

My system: P4/3G, Intel D865PERL mobo, Soundmax (latest drivers), ATI 9800 Pro 128, 2G RAM.
