We need a switch all aricraft/same type to night/day operations.

At present we have to change from day to night and reverse for each squadron...a lot of work for 20 squadrons!![:(]

I think they did that so there would not be as much ahistorical night bombing. Folks would get tired of doing it an just play daylight raids.[:D]

freeboy -> RE: WitP Wish List (3/23/2005 6:39:41 AM)

how about using fleats to block straights

Tomo -> RE: WitP Wish List (3/23/2005 11:02:24 PM)

Scenario 15. Leader names

IJA division leader, 61st & 63rd are same person.
Correct leader of 61st division is Tanaka T.(Tsutomu Tanaka) and 63rd division is Nozoe M.(Masanori Nozoe).

Leader of 119th division is Shiozawa K.--Kiyonobu Shiozawa

Leader of 125th division is Imari T.--Tatsuo Imari(or Imatoshi sorry I cannot read his correct family name. Kanji letter is always big problem to read person's name).

Leader of 123rd division is Kitazawa, S.--Sadajirou(or Teijirou) Kitazawa.

Leader of 128th division is Mizuhara Y.--Yoshishige Mizuhara.

...and more.
My source is Japanese book, of course written in Japanese.

This book is awesome. Excellent description of ALL IJA divisions.

sabreman1966mcs -> RE: WitP Wish List (3/26/2005 12:02:06 PM)

I know it is late in the day to consider this one. But, with all the different graphic,art, map and OOB mods out there, or in development it would be good to have something like Modswapper present to keep track of what mods are loaded or not. That way in PBEMs both players will know they are both running the same set up's.

That's my thought for the day, back to lurking [;)]

Knavey -> RE: WitP Wish List (4/7/2005 10:40:06 PM)

Tomo,

How many books are written in Japan about the war? I know we have access to a large amount for research over here. I am just curious if the Japanese authors have released huge numbers of books from the Japanese perspective on the war and if there is a large amount, just imagine the resources that we are not able to access for the creation and verification of OOBs and such due to a language barrier.

Perhaps someone one day will make a Pacific War game and have a Japanese speaking person on their staff who could access the Japanese literature on the subject.

scout1 -> RE: WitP Wish List (4/11/2005 8:17:34 PM)

v1.6, but .......

How about a summary of the available HI, vs the adequately supplied HI. This would at least provide a primer that something, somewhere is amiss. Even better, if the listing is a pulldown which lists all the sites with resource status relative to demand.

The next one would be that it would be really, really nice to be able to cut-n-paste out of several of these data windows so we can transfer the info to Excel.

guderian39 -> RE: WitP Wish List (4/12/2005 9:13:34 AM)

I'd like to have the tonnage (for warships) or BRT for merchant ships included in ship data.
1. suggestion
Similar to the kill statistics for fighter pilots, I'd then like the tonnage sinkings or ship sinkings recorded in the individual ships or commanders.
Maybe even for the bomber pilots.
2. suggestion
Furthermore, adding the date of sinking to the sunk ship report as additional cullumn would give the game more fun.
(Like in other games, I tend to keep a close watch on my fighter pilots, but tend to undervalue the bomber pilots and sub crews).

These small changes add a lot to longterm play fun. A couple of my friends agree to this.

2Stepper -> RE: WitP Wish List (5/1/2005 4:02:16 PM)

This is probably buried in these 12 pages of posts somewhere, so if it is, I appologize... Just trying to search for "ALT-TAB" as part of your key words makes it tough to find... at any rate...

My question/suggestion is this...

Is ALT/TAB fixable? Where we can minimize the game and bring it back without it exploding? Reason I ask this, is its a pain in the neck to have to exit WiTP totally to load up email and send... Why not have them both going at the same time and alt-tab and send the turn and go back to the game. I know its a little thing, but its an asthetic that would be nice to have as its too late to "build in" Outlook/outlook express interfaces into the game where you'd launch the email proggie you have from within WiTP.

Sometimes even the little things matter. [8D]

If anyone is still checking ideas for future patches and has a question about what I'm posting here, just PM me and I'll ellaborate.

Thanks

rogueusmc -> RE: WitP Wish List (5/1/2005 4:06:07 PM)

I'm not having a problem with the Alt/Tab.

fokkov -> RE: Database screens (5/2/2005 12:21:05 AM)

Way points for TF , now the wander off trough enemy controlled zones taking a shortcut and
getting decimated.

Targetting enemy taskforces with airgroups so you can concentrate on attacking the TF you think is the biggest threat prefenting that a small airgroup attacks a CV TF with no escorts and a big airgroup
with escorts attacks a small TF of DD and MSW .

Williamb -> RE: Database screens (5/2/2005 5:08:54 AM)

probably not a workable idea but thought Id shoot it out (IF there still is any kind of upgrade for another patch)

a report on naval battles blow by blow. I know watching the replay of them we see like

CA FURUTAKA fires 8 inch guns at PT 75..

then the result.

Would be nice to see a report of each shot and each hit. Sort of a running tally of the battle blow by blow.

is it possible to print to the combat report such a battle recap ?

Banquet -> RE: Database screens (5/5/2005 1:06:21 AM)

This has been mentioned before, but not patched as yet..

Can we get the combat summary moved away from the centre of the screen (on the right maybe, like the combat animations) I'm not a geography expert on PTO and I'd like to be able to see the spot on the map that the summary refers to [:)]

Arkady -> RE: Database screens (5/5/2005 11:11:55 AM)

Possibility to export data from overview screens to text file (eg. CSV format)

something like this - http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=792726

Admiral DadMan -> Leader Filter (5/11/2005 12:02:47 AM)

Any chance a "Leader Filter" being implemented? It still takes far too long to "click click click click click click" my way through to sort out the Carrier Commanders from the Gun Clubbers.

Not in-game, but you might want to look at my utility.

  • Option for automatic saving and compilation of sig intel, operations and combat reports for game turns (Win2000/XP only)
  • Option for automatic archiving of game saves (Win2000/XP only)
  • Display of the sig intel data on a game map
  • Display of operations report data on a game map
  • Display of combat report data on a game map
  • Display of all acccumulated information on opponents major naval vessels (CV, CVL, CVE, BB, BC, CA)
  • Filtering of intel by age of intel and intel type
  • Filtering of combat reports by age of report and combat type
  • Basic information for all bases in the selected scenario
  • Display of aircraft range radii for any aircraft at any base
  • Calculation of inter-port distances (both direct and minimum distance by sea)
  • Estimated time required for task forces to travel between two ports, and ETA for a user-defined departure date
  • Output of basic base, ship unit, land unit, and aircraft unit data contained in the scenario database files
  • Option to save data for multiple games in progress as the data for each game in the user save slots (3 to 200) is handled separately

More details in this thread.

jimh009 -> RE: WitP Wish List (5/15/2005 2:02:46 PM)

First, just let me say WITP is an awesome game.

That said, here's a few wishes I have for future updates.

More "small scenarios"

I realize WITP main purpose is to be a "big game". However, at times it is just nice to focus on a small part of the war or world or a particular time of the war. It would be nice if more smaller, limited map scenarios were available (perhaps some more in the south pacific and central pacific). These scenarios could be both hypothetical and historical.

Option to turn off Recon flight messages.
All those recon flight messages get annoying and irritating after a while. They also slow the speed of the game down, too. Allow players to toggle it off.

And lastly, how about getting rid of "carrier regeneration" for the Allies. Instead, just introduce the "replacement" carriers as they came in during the war, labeling them Yorktown2, Lexington2, Wasp2, Hornet2 - much as the ancient Pacific War board game did. Doing so keeps the realism of the game by introducing the carriers at their alloted time during the war. It also prevents the allies from being "gipped" out of 4 carriers they may otherwise have.

Belphegor -> RE: WitP Wish List (6/19/2005 8:48:31 AM)

I know it's probably too late...

Please restore rule 5.1.3.1 to its proper functioning

LargeSlowTarget -> RE: WitP Wish List (6/19/2005 12:10:38 PM)

We already have a 'Do not upgrade' and 'Do not expand' toggle in the preferences - how about a 'Do not refuel' toggle as well? I tend to forget to toggle off the odd TF now and then and then scream murder when the precious fuel supplies at front bases are sucked dry needlessly, leaving my PTs without juice.

I have only one wish at this time. Please fix the bugs. the game is the game and this how it will be. I
just want things to work like the manual says they do. Thank you all. [:D]

bstarr -> RE: WitP Wish List (7/10/2005 6:16:32 PM)

Make LCUs under restricted commands have to set bases under the same command as their destination when moving. With a little tweaking this would solve the overactive china problem. Units would have to be purchased using political points in order to activate them for offensive operations in China. This would probably require all scenarios to have “active and inactive” China commands (for both sides), but the end result would be worth it.

ps. It would also prevent using Manchu LCUs without paying a price.

shawn118aw -> RE: WitP Wish List (7/13/2005 5:56:33 AM)

Feinder -> RE: WitP Wish List (7/13/2005 7:52:25 AM)

Ability to turn OFF production of Oil and Resources (like the repair toggles).

This would compel Japan to actually capture the SRA as historically necessary, since the Dutch won't be neatly stacking the oil for them.

-F-

Sharkosaurus rex -> RE: WitP Wish List (7/13/2005 4:54:08 PM)

Shouldn't static units have some sort of immunity from malaria if they have adequate support and supplies? All the static units will just wither unless you keep the replacements rolling but it will be a waste.
