52nd Lowland -> Gamey....? (8/13/2004 6:45:58 PM)

Taking the replacement aircraft from the escort carriers in June '43 campaign,throwing them into the Solomons and putting all those F4U and Hellcat Marine units on the now empty escort carriers.
Means that i have now several wings of Hellcats and Helldivers (albeit with v low experience) and using them on the march up the islands.
They jump from 28 to 50 experience when first used and rise rapidly when in combat.[:D]

I don't think it is Gamey. You are using the assets you have available. The small number of Fighetrs you could put on the CVE's is pretty in-effective. I think they have a max of 27. Many of the USMC and USN squadrons are bigger than this. I say Go for it. My question is why not leave teh Fighters on land, sicne they ar enot Carrier based, but Carrier capable, and cover teh strike planes. Or are you using those poor FM-2's to do that?

I believe basing non-organic squadrons on carriers will result in increased operational losses. The designation "carrier-capable" is in this case somewhat misleading. There will be a price to pay.

It's perfectly legitimate to do so. That is why there is a rule built into the game to offer up the punishment of higher operational losses. [;)]

Only thing you need to keep in mind is while you are training your F4U's, you are also killing them from operational losses. The choice is yours.
