Hanal -> December Update? (12/6/2004 2:50:49 PM)

Frank, can you provide us with an update on where the game stands?....All this talk about old WWI board games has me patiently anticipating this release even more....[:)]

FrankHunter -> RE: December Update? (12/7/2004 12:20:41 AM)

Ok, its still done, just requires rest of artwork and then testing.

Here are some screenshots from a recent game. I've removed the panels around the map display because that artwork is not done and the word "temporary" is stamped on them.

FrankHunter -> RE: December Update? (12/7/2004 12:21:55 AM)

West front, exhausted German army has reached Paris

Eastern front (or at least what I can fit in the pic)

FrankHunter -> RE: December Update? (12/7/2004 12:24:50 AM)

Italian front, this just got underway

FrankHunter -> RE: December Update? (12/7/2004 12:26:33 AM)

Serbian front, just about over, Bulgaria has invaded the south and taken Skopje. The Austrians took Belgrade and Montenegro before having to divert its troops to the Italian and Galician fronts.

FrankHunter -> RE: December Update? (12/7/2004 12:45:46 AM)

Try that again, Serbian front...

Looking good Frank...thanks

Dirtdog20 -> RE: December Update? (12/7/2004 1:53:54 AM)

May we ask for an explination of the nubers and symbols around them? If I am stepping out of line please feel free to send me to the Principals office.

FrankHunter -> RE: December Update? (12/7/2004 2:13:59 AM)

Flag denotes nationality, symbol is type, bottom left corner is designation (no effect on play), the number that sometimes appears above the designation is entrenchment level, number in top right circle is strength, below that, in the box is readiness, bottom right-corner is quality (doesn't change).

Dirtdog20 -> RE: December Update? (12/7/2004 2:19:32 AM)

Not meaning to nitpick already, but shouldnt quality change as units are burned out and new replacements are filtered in? I know on a scale that this game takes place you could make an argument both ways, just wondering yours.

PS looks great and cant wait. A very absolute day of release buy, and I dont do that at all.

billpete -> RE: December Update? (12/7/2004 2:33:29 AM)

Frank - looks good! Hope to get this game as soon as it comes out.

FrankHunter -> RE: December Update? (12/7/2004 4:19:55 AM)

Right, quality does change as replacements are added, I just meant it doesn't change as the unit goes about its day to day

Very Cool!!! Thank you very much. I take it that planning/preperation points are used to feed the replacents into units; or is it a pool that every unit draws from?

I also take it that the HQ # represent planning/preperation points left also?

elmo3 -> RE: December Update? (12/7/2004 4:51:41 PM)

Great eye candy! Can you zoom in and out and are those pics zoomed all the way in? Thanks.

Lannes -> RE: December Update? (12/7/2004 10:16:11 PM)

Very nice, I wait this game with impatience. Thanks Frank for to have make a game on WW1.

Clipper1968 -> RE: December Update? (12/7/2004 10:34:49 PM)

Great screenshots!!![8D]but it really looks like CotD...[&:]
Will the AI been improved as in CotD it was completely unconsistent???[&:]
Nevertheless it is with a great pleasure that I will discover this game about the WWI[:)];they are not so many...

FrankHunter -> RE: December Update? (12/8/2004 12:19:55 AM)

Dirtdog : Theres a pool of manpower and arms that every unit replacement comes from.
And yes, the HQ number in the circle is the number of "Offensive" or "Planning/Prep" points it has.

Elmo : There's no zoom, the map is a single hand-drawn bmp.

Pumba : Hey I liked CotD :) Anyway, the two games have absolutely nothing in common and that means the AI too.

CSSS -> RE: December Update? (12/8/2004 2:11:54 AM)

CotD?

CotD?

Campaign on the Danube...another Frank Hunter game based on Naploeonic War....a good game at a very reasonable price available here at Matrix....

Hanal -> RE: December Update? (12/8/2004 6:04:34 AM)

Frank, will there be a strategic map that we could toggle on to view the entire map and spotted unit positions?

Glad to hear that!!![:)]
I am really looking forward to play this game...any release date expected???[&:]

sol_invictus -> RE: December Update? (12/8/2004 5:52:25 PM)

Looks beautiful Frank. I have anxiously waited for this game for so long.

benpark -> RE: December Update? (12/8/2004 10:46:23 PM)

Looks great so far. I'm really happy we will have a WW1 game of any scale in the future.

Two suggestions from my humble perspective-the city graphic is a bit too anthill like for me. Also-the counters seem just a hair large. Of course, if the jpegs are moddable, forget both suggestions and plug away.

Lannes -> RE: December Update? (12/8/2004 10:56:21 PM)

Hello,

Frank, the artillery help for attack and defense or attack only ?

Lannes

wodin -> RE: December Update? (12/9/2004 3:08:25 AM)

The counters do look very large. Aslo the hexes are hard to make out in some areas.

FrankHunter -> RE: December Update? (12/9/2004 6:44:27 AM)

wodin : Yep, the counters fill the hexes pretty much. Their display is a toggle.

Lannes : Artillery are used for neither attack nor defence, they're for barrages only. I figured there was artillery everywhere and its part of the existing units firepower. So its only mass artillery concentrations I'm trying to represent with the counters.

benpark : the map and counters are mod-able

JP : There is no one-screen overall map

*Lava* -> RE: December Update? (12/9/2004 4:15:24 PM)

Hi!

The Matrix artists once again do a super duper job.

Hope testing of the beta will begin soon...
