Are there plans to fix the bugs with Kamikazes and Ohkas in version 1.5 or is this planned for later. I am approaching 1945 in one of my games and would really like to have those forces avaiable for proper use as my enemy is wiping the table with me. [:(] On a positive note I like the fact that we can now upgrade to what we have available. I have all these A6M2s laying around not being used while all my units w/ A6M5s are sporting 5-10 planes each. I am assuming you can downgrade as well?

I wish you could downgrade. The only way to do that is to disband letting them come back with no planes in the pool. They will fillout with a plane that upgrades to the one that it is supposed to have.

Will it be possible to choose your upgrades infinately or will there be a max number of sqds per plane type. If not, Japs would be able to eliminate Oscars from war completely, and Allies would at least triple the number of Corsair sqds. Neither is very historical.

quote: im assuming this is something made especially for us and the AI will not use this??? Yep, ai will follow hardcoded paths so if you want to go overboard against the AI, you'll be rather brutal. This is a feature add aimed really at PBEM games.

If I want history, I will read a book. I do not want to be forced to make the same mistakes the real people made. Not sure how the Allies will be able to triple the number of Corsair units though. It was primarily a Marine fighter for much of the war. Every Marine sqdrn upgrades to the Corsair sooner or later. This is called having the ability to truely streamline your production as the Japanese.

I have been thru so many re-starts, that a couple more will not kill me. And for this little gem, I will gladly re-start the game. Then I can really begin to streamline my production from day 1. I would hate to have this option and try to use it in any of my current games. It would really FUBAR my production schedule.

Because of the large number of near show-stopper bugs that still plague the game, I find myself surprisingly indifferent to your latest customer service proposal. For the record, I am not questioning the dedication or the work ethic of the beta testing and support team. But I AM question the judgement of their leaders. And my primary evidence is the horrific patch record of both UV and WITP, with essentially the same guys running the show.

Due to the scope and nature of the GAME, I'm not restarting anything! Now will the Okhas work or not, that is the question. (I'd like to know since Japanese strategy will be totally different if Kamikazes will not work)[8\|]

The games will be restarted due to an improvement, not due to a bug. I would rather restart my games and see better things on every release rather than just fixing the bugs and see everything else frozen in time. I always respect the opinion of people I disagree with, but in this case I not only disagree but also respectfully hope that nobody will pay attention to you, as the only way of eliminating your troubles is by eliminating improvements. The idea is to present you with the historical situation and capabilities so that you can measure your performance against what the historical commanders accomplished. I suggest you read a few of them books - see why them real people made them mistakes. If you doesn't want to be a real people, go be starship troopers. History forced a lot of mistakes on people. It was tough. Try it.

I have read most of the books on the subject. We are already hearing people scream because the Japanese player uses 5-6 divisions to conquer the PI instead of the 2 1/2 they really used. And the same for Malaya. That is one of the reasons the Allied players can not match the Historical time line. I will throw the kitchen sink at whatever target I decide to take and steamroller you. I can not help if the real Japanese commanders were dumba**es and barely used their available forces. I make it known up front to anybody I play that they should not expect me to show up at Midway in June 42 or that I will even attack PH on 7 Dec. The object of this game to me is to see if I can do better than the real guys. The changes I make in force levels, aircraft production are all to see if those changes would have effected the outcome of the war or will I still get crushed in the end.

This point of view has merit. I nevertheless think that many games allow the gamers to match the historical decisions too easily. I think that a game should be so hard as that only good gamers could follow the historical timelines, and only a prodigious player could achieve better than historical results. After all, the real folks were not stupid. F.

I believe that players should be given the same tools their historic counterparts had and the goal should be to improve upon the historic result.
