I am playing a new 1.4 AI game as allies (on hard). The Japanese AI made a brilliant move when the 18th division moved from Kuantan to Mersing in 3 days, forcing me to start pulling my forward brigades back to Singapore (in vain as you can see):

The only problem is it should not be able to do that. The LCU was not following any of my units, so 3 days to drive through two road hexes and one path hex is hmm a little suspicious.

Does the AI cheat here on hard setting and higher?

No, but if it was set to "pursue" units it defeats in ground combat, they will follow as fast as the retreating units go.

Also, some players have noted a "RR slingshot" bug, which I haven't seen myself.

It was not following any of my units, as they retreated towards Malacca. Anyway I did manage to pull my units back to Johore Bharu, even with the enemy in the same hex. Didn't know I could do that.
