Sounds like you should play Rob ... between the two of you, you should cancel each other out when it comes to CV losses ... think he's still got you by a few though. [;)]

Rob suffers from Manual-Miss-Under-Standish ... once over that he's probably going to kick a lot of peoples butts! Watch yourself ... think he's lost a cv in every possible way there is so he knows better now! [:'(]

Well, my congratulations to everyone participating in this thread. First, for being honest, and second for playing each other. I am taking the coward's way out and playing the AI. Maybe one of these days . . .

In most of my UV games, I was better once I have lost my CVs. So I lost them quickly and then I started to think to anything else than raiding "undefended" parts of the enemy empire. Usually worked some times and then BOOM.

You know, thats probably a true statement for a lot of folks. CV's are held in such godlike reverence that people fixate on them too much to the neglect of everything else.

Unless you are my wife I'd say it's pretty difficult [:D]
Of course if you were my wife, I'd be nuts [sm=crazy.gif] and anything could be possible! [sm=dizzy.gif]

Tom Hunter -> RE: Worst player ever (2/10/2005 10:18:06 PM)

Blackwatch forgot that he sunk the Enterprise in January 42 he also sunk most of the escorts and it war the largest CV escort force I had. In exchange I caused him to lose large number of bombs, torpedeos and bullets that I took to the bottom with my ships.

After reading other AARs and Mogamis thread on scores I do think we are chewing eachother up faster than most people do. I see games with few losses on either side or with massive losses on one side but only a few where there is a lot of blood shed by both.

herbieh -> RE: Worst player ever (2/10/2005 10:19:33 PM)

You know, I feel a bit better now, losing 3BB and a cvl in Jan as japan doesnt feel so bad now.
OK then, best player you have encountered?

For sheer toughness I rate Wobbly pretty highly, Tabpub for tactical skills.

kaleun -> RE: Worst player ever (2/10/2005 10:31:08 PM)

I lost all my carriers (US, I still have the Brit ones) versus Warspite by Feb 42. Have played a little better since[8|] (See Shame and Execration AAR thread)

Oh I forgot, my attemted invasion of batavia against Freeboy must be close to a record in the: How not to do things thread![sm=Christo_pull_hair.gif] (See: Death of isolationism)

OK, Wobbly spread me all over the place and beat the crap out of me everywhere I invaded, and we go for a restart in Feb 42

Tabpub smashes half my fleet, lures me into a trap, and kills more APs and men than even he realises by Feb 42, and I have to ask for a restart....

This is developing into a very nasty pattern.

How many other guys out there so badly got it wrong so early

(my crime - trying to take it all at once, right now, and forgetting there is an opposition)[:D]

I've been getting my ass handed to me constantly as the Allies.
But the Allies are forgiving of error.

EUBanana -> RE: Worst player ever (2/10/2005 10:49:40 PM)

...mind you I've not lost any CVs.

Yet.

But then I've not used them yet, as soon as I do an op with them I'm sure they'll suffer. [;)]

Anyway the loss of the CVLs and CVEs was a very bad move.[:(]

Forgive me for asking a dumb question. How do you tell if there are CD units at an enemy base, short of actually attacking it with a land unit to see what pops up on the ground-combat screen? I mean, air recon will give you some info about ground units, but not that kind of detail. I guess "Ground Attack" can identify the ground units for you, but that mission doesn't always fly, and I'm always reluctant to commit Betties and Nells to that mission anyway.

Titanwarrior89 -> RE: Worst player ever (2/11/2005 12:55:38 AM)

And i thought i was the only one getting creamed![:D] It's june 42 in my pbem game against Akit (jap) and he is landing everywhere. I've lost two Cv's. PM, canton and other vacationing points.[:D]

mogami -> RE: Worst player ever (2/11/2005 1:00:56 AM)

Hi, Losing empty bases does not make you bad.
An Allied player who trades CV is good (The Jap is bad)
From Dec 41 to May 42 really only the Japanese player can be bad, unless the Allied player is moving his rear area troops to places they are lost. Losing the ones in the SRA and Burma to Akyab is normal there are few players good enough to prevent that against good Japanese players.

Current game vs Zeta 16, lst 1000 plus heavy bombers using them unescorted ...
oh well, lost five cv in 42 to his 2
lost five bb in one month in mid 43 and wanted to quit! relly upset by my mistake not setting to retire and having three old boats torpedoed...
everyone makes mistakes[:-]
Z did once I think???

I have made a few. I try to be careful in everything I do. If a fleet gets spotted I usually turn around. I escort every convoy like it is my last. I have a big lead at the moment but, it is slowly going away. it's 9/43 and the allies are starting to roll. The heavies destory any airfield in range. You can't stop you can only hope to take as many out as you can on the first try. 200 or more heavies does the trick, he may lose 60 or so. However, they damage about every plane on the field. This coupled with service damage dooms the Japanese planes.

Something that strikes me continually about players getting beaten on as the Allies is WHY?
Why were your CV's anywhere that they could be lost by January of 1942? If you have
paid any attention to this forum at all you would know that your chances of winning a
CV vs CV action before mid-1942 are almost nil..., so what they He11 are you doing
sending you CV's into harms way? If you do a cost benefits study just what goal is out
there that could possibly be worth the loss of your carriers? This feeling that you have to
"get out there and DO SOMETHING" plays right into your opponanants hands. Just because you have a lot of toys does not mean you have to play with all of them at once.

Exactly! I laugh reading lots of the AARs but then I'm a freak. Guess I think I'm going to be able to play through 45 without another patch restart or something.
