"Honey, forget that stupid game today and get that sod in before it gets ruined."

"It's Captain Mandrake, Mrs. Mandrake."

"Whatever!"

[:)] I had to take about 4 showers yesterday when I felt the heat exhaustion setting in..and was out there till 8:15 PM laying the stuff. I even had my 14 year old daughter help for a bit. [8D Sill have about a 1000 sq ft. to do. Uggh. looks fantatstic though.

Cap Mandrake -> Readiness (6/4/2006 6:44:03 PM)

Everything from Gili Gili to Townsville is on a tripwire...even Yossarian's group (armed with the new Mk82C)

Terminus -> RE: Readiness (6/4/2006 6:45:34 PM)

Wow, if they're down to relying on the 90th, things must be desperate...

Moondawggie -> RE: Yossarian at the front? (6/5/2006 6:48:33 AM)

I don't know, but I bet if Yossarian drops 50,000 cans of spam and pineapple onto the open deck of an IJN CV, the antiaircraft gunners and deck crew who aren't knocked senseless will quit doing their jobs and break for a snack...[:D]

And then, just maybe the SBDs will catch the IJN decks full with attack planes unable to take off...Mitsuo Fuchida would have nightmares again! [:)]

You go Yossarian! M&M, all the way... [&o]

rtrapasso -> RE: Yossarian at the front? (6/5/2006 4:46:36 PM)

Oh, man, still no update!! [:(]

Cap Mandrake -> RE: Yossarian at the front? (6/5/2006 4:51:48 PM)

Man..what a "weekend". Every muscle I have is torn to shreds (I think). Its not what you might think.

Reminds me of the quote "God created grass for man's use and enjoyment, but then the Devil created lawns..." (or something like that!) [8|] [:'(]

rtrapasso -> RE: Yossarian at the front? (6/5/2006 5:27:42 PM)

OK - to keep this straight: Halsey has Saratoga, Lexington, Indomitable, Illustrious, and Furious vs. Zuikaku, Shokaku, and Kaga (in Banda Sea)

and

Enterprise and Hornet vs. Akagi, Shoho, Ryujo in Coral Sea.

Well, without factoring land air, i'd give advantage to Halsey in Banda Sea, and maybe Enterprise and Hornet in Coral Sea. WITH land air, it's anyone's fight!

Cap Mandrake -> Scratch one flatop..at least. (6/5/2006 5:28:08 PM)

rtrapasso -> RE: Scratch one flatop..at least. (6/5/2006 5:31:07 PM)

So far, so good, but where is the IJN counterpunch? Probably en route...

USSAmerica -> RE: Scratch one flatop..at least. (6/5/2006 5:34:59 PM)

Wow! Massive damage in the first wave of Allied attacks! Now, will there be an effective counterstrike before the Allies can recover, rearm, refuel, and launch again? I'm betting that a large part of the Japanese strike potential is already out of the fight.

Yes, I'm still avidly following and enjoying this thread! [8D]

Almost right..its Formidable..not Furious

Bingo. Yorktown is late for the fight, just having refueled in Brisbane. Wasp is playing goose to some Goslings as is Hermes..and Long Island is steaming around aimlessly int he Indian Ocean trying to get the Japs to waste a torpedo on her.

Whoops - had it in my notes correctly, but mistyped it!! [8|]

Cap Mandrake -> Vegetable slave (6/5/2006 5:41:16 PM)

Ok..I need to go water the grass..now that I am slaved to it's needs. I will try to post more from work..if Matrix isn't blocked again by the filter (it was last week) [:)]

veji1 -> RE: Vegetable slave (6/5/2006 5:50:18 PM)

So did you actually finish the turf??? (Last we heard, everyone had run out of steam...)

Yes..I hosed everything down, went to bed..got up at dawn and went out to get another crew in the morning. The first lot were nowhere to be found, even though I bought lunch.[:)] Took us about 5 hrs the second day..and it had "cooled" down to 93. [:'(]

If I can get my daughter to show me how to upload a pic to the comp...I will post a pic.

Nemo121 -> RE: More carnage! When will it end? (6/6/2006 12:05:46 AM)

Major victory for the Allies then. This AAR is like a Japanese player's worst nightmare.

Moondawggie -> RE: More carnage! When will it end? (6/6/2006 2:27:26 AM)

Wow---the after action report for today should be a lulu! [X(]

Multicarrier coodinated strikes like that didn't become routine for the USN until 1944 in the real world. It take guts to launch SBDs 220 miles out from the target.

I wonder what the white stuff from the B-25 was? [;)]

BrucePowers -> RE: More carnage! When will it end? (6/6/2006 3:49:53 AM)

Can't wait to here what the final tally is on the IJN carriers.  Midway in the Coral Sea.  Are the RN carriers going to make it?

veji1 -> RE: More carnage! When will it end? (6/6/2006 10:57:20 AM)

Thing is in this game things go so fast that if you get a Midway like battle in 42 ( august here ), well then the war will go very fast.... With BB and CV losses like these that early I would have seppuku'd my self already...

Wellard -> RE: More carnage! When will it end? (6/6/2006 5:37:03 PM)

Just found this thread last night and want to say that it really grabbed me.The LYBs are certainly taking a pounding and must surely be near breaking point( and that's without any appearance from the much vaunted USMC)
