Grotius -> RE: More carnage! When will it end? (6/6/2006 6:03:53 PM)

Oh man. So what's the current tally? It sounds like you've sunk several IJN carriers, and you haven't lost any.

Cap Mandrake -> RE: More carnage! When will it end? (6/6/2006 6:17:45 PM)

Estimates.

******Home of Sec. Hull, Georgetown, Aug. 17, 07:45**********

<phone rings>

Sec Hull: Yes?

3rd Undersecretary for Latin America, E Jameson, Duty Officer: Sir, its Jameson at State. I am sorry to bother you on a Sunday morning, but I have a very odd situation here.

Sec Hull: Ah..perhaps the noises in my office? I shouldn't worry about that, its my parakeet, Noodles, she always does that if I am late coming in.

Jameson: No sir. Its not that. The Swiss Ambassador is here with two aides. He asks if he could please meet with you immediately on an urgent matter of historic import.

Sec Hull: .....I'll be right down.

Time will tell. Perhaps this is just high level negotiations through a 3rd party regarding sea urchin roe! [:'(]

Wellard -> RE: Don't worry, its the parrot (6/7/2006 6:15:14 PM)

Well it is very possible that Milo will negotiate something for himself out of this but the historical implications of a Pacific War ending this early are immense
Think about it the majority of the USN as well as many of the troops that would have been commited to the campaign would now be available for deployment to the ETO. D-Day could be brought forward to 1943(I can just see the USMC leading the charge at Omaha)and the whole thing could be over in the West by early '44.We grab Berlin long before the Russians and move East(because FDRs Yalta rollover for Uncle Joe doesn't happen).Cold War boundaries are drawn between East and West Poland and we have the bomb as well as all those Nazi Rocket scientists(Guess that means we win)
Britain/Australia and our gallant Dutch allies having borne the brunt of the fighting till now can claim to have won the war in the Pacific by sheer bloody mindedness so no giving up the Empire in '48

BrucePowers -> RE: Don't worry, its the parrot (6/8/2006 12:37:43 AM)

Accept only unconditional surrender![:D][:D]

rtrapasso -> RE: Don't worry, its the parrot (6/8/2006 4:11:00 AM)

Matrix is supposedly setting up a Methadone Maintenance Program for those suffering from (or about to suffer from) "Fear and Loathing" withdrawal...

BrucePowers -> RE: Don't worry, its the parrot (6/8/2006 4:44:43 AM)

This AAR is interesting. I hope it doesn't end yet. This has been fun to read.

Cap Mandrake -> Anime...what's anime? (6/8/2006 5:58:58 PM)

Mr. Secretary;

Please review this draft document. Per your request, we asked Mr. Ford, if he wanted any protections in the document. He laughed so hard he nearly wet himslef, declining our offer.

Cap Mandrake -> RE: Start times? (6/8/2006 6:11:54 PM)

By the way..its not to late to call off the annoying end to the war [;)]

All we need is some volunteers to stage a coup for the honor of the Emperor...of course you would have quite a bit of dented machinery [:)]

Fabulous!!![&o] [&o] [&o]

Loose ends, anyone?

What was the mysterious white powder dumped onto the IJN carrier that i'm guessing Yosarrian bombed?

EDIT: Was it one of those biodegradable warheads?[&:] [:'(]

Wellard -> RE: Start times? (6/8/2006 8:50:57 PM)

Hold on a minute! The surrender document specifically states that they are surrendering in accordance with the 1945 Potsdam Agreement but it's only 1942 so the surrender won't be effective for a further 3 years.

noticed that, eh?[;)]

Well, we've already had a teleporation device - what's a little time travel? [8D]

Wellard -> RE: Start times? (6/8/2006 9:23:32 PM)

I just think it's a pity that the most readable (and literate) AAR on this forum is coming to end

Mike Solli -> RE: Start times? (6/8/2006 9:26:56 PM)

Who says it's ending? The Japanese agreed to an unconditional surrender in 3 years.[:D]

Do you think someone will pick up the Japanese side - i think all their carriers are gone or "in the shop". Meanwhile, they still haven't gotten the DEI, and it is Mid August 1942.

i'd LOVE to see it continue, but is there someone crazy enough available?

Wait a sec, what's Nik doing? [:'(]

Mike Solli -> RE: Start times? (6/8/2006 9:51:46 PM)

[:D]

Yeah, Nik'll try it. He'll try anything.

BrucePowers -> RE: Start times? (6/9/2006 12:13:48 AM)

I won't try it. I can't even handle the allied side yet and I don't have that many units to move.[:D] Good luck to whoever does. Could we be underestimating the cuurent supreme Japanese commander? I certainly could not play Japan yet.

Mike Solli -> RE: Start times? (6/9/2006 12:25:44 AM)

You're just not crazy enough. Give it a bit more time.[:D]

Moondawggie -> The surrender document (6/9/2006 12:45:57 AM)

I'm just glad the document didn't ban opening sushi joints and Sapporo beer from US territory.

On the other hand, it should have definitely banned all advertising campaigns staring Joe Izusu, and it should have demanded that Nissan (Datsun) leave the original early-70s 240-Z platform untouched.

I'm going to miss this AAR...

Mike Solli -> RE: Start times? (6/9/2006 12:46:30 AM)

[:D]

So, is the AAR still on?

Here is an idea. Perhaps someone would want to "stage a coup" and take over Empire of Japan with the limited, stated goal of prevented Allied Auto victory by the end of 1942. The game would end New Years Eve 1942 or if autovictory were achieved. That, at least, would be challenging, perhaps even unachievable, for the Allies...plus it would be the mother of all disappointments for Yossarian [8D]

I am pretty sure the Shokaku is still afloat, although I cant remember what happened to her. Anything from the IJN in this battle is either sunk (Akagi confirmed) or a hulk (except one or 2 CVE's)
