nukkxx5058 -> Fast PBEM - 4 Nations (7/18/2005 9:57:31 PM)

Hi, I'd like to start a "fast PBEM" with highly motivated gamers.

---->>> 1792 sceario <<<-----
Diplomacy conducated by email.

In order to speed-up the process I propose to apply the following rules:

- every player commit himself to react promptly and send his turn as fast as possible.
- maximum 4 players, other nations are AI
- in order to optimize the process, nations are determined by time-zone order. First player to play is from US west-coast, then east-coast, then GMT guys and so on. The first west-coast guy to register for the game choose his country. Player chose their country according to the following list.

Possible choices for 1st player
France
Britain

Possible choices for 2nd player
Sweden
Prussia

Possible choices for 3rd player
Austria
Russia

Possible choices for 4th player
Turkey
Spain

Who's interested ? please indicate your time zone to determinate the nation's choice.

I am GMT+2

What does "highly motivated" mean? Unemployed? [;)]

I'd like to play in such a game but if the requirement is that turns be sent out within an hour of receipt, then I cannot play.

I think (hope) he wants players who will always try to send their turn on to the next player as quickly as they can, because all four of us want to actually play the game, rather than just sitting waiting for days on end for the next person in the chain of eight to take their move, delays which are made worse by turns constantly switching timezones back and forth, always seeming to move in the most inconvienent pattern!

TheRockSal -> RE: Fast PBEM - 4 Nations (7/18/2005 11:16:25 PM)

Hi,

You guys should probably get all English players to make that easier..

But, I have the game here at work and at home and can post a turn pretty quickly when I get it if you can deal with a West Coast USA player.

I have two other PBEM's and still haven't played one turn so I'd be up for a quickie PBEM game.

James.

bluemonday -> RE: Fast PBEM - 4 Nations (7/18/2005 11:37:38 PM)

Ok, I don't think I'm going to be able to do this (playing from work!) so I'll pass. Good luck to you all.

nukkxx5058 -> RE: Fast PBEM - 4 Nations (7/18/2005 11:44:24 PM)

so far:

nukkxx
ian77
TheRockSal

One more player :-)

Same here, 3 games and still not got to go yet.... maybe we should pick France then James just to ensure we get a turn!!!

Ian

TheRockSal -> RE: Fast PBEM - 4 Nations (7/19/2005 12:05:10 AM)

Roger that Ian!

You can pick France, I'll take England, or vice versa and we'll definitely get a turn in...[:D]

Belphegor -> RE: Fast PBEM - 4 Nations (7/19/2005 12:06:37 AM)

I'm in Central Standard Time... if that counts. Can guarantee a turn a day at worst.
GMT -6 (middle of north am)
sean

ian77 -> RE: Fast PBEM - 4 Nations (7/19/2005 12:07:21 AM)

I'll be nice and let you have France[:D]...... I shall hide behind my wooden walls.

Belphegor -> RE: Fast PBEM - 4 Nations (7/19/2005 12:17:21 AM)

So do I get the 4th slot? or was I beaten to the fast pbem punch

ian77 -> RE: Fast PBEM - 4 Nations (7/19/2005 12:23:52 AM)

I was kidding... I am GMT+1... so according to top post I will be getting third choice I think, James is west coast and will have to play first (though I would have thought that his day finished after everybody elses....)

Belphegor -> RE: Fast PBEM - 4 Nations (7/19/2005 12:26:20 AM)

I thought you were offereing TheRockSal France...

I just want to know if I have another game pending. [:'(]

Just a thought but isnt this the wrong way round? Would it not be better to pass the turn on in the direction the sun travels?

Central Europe, UK, East Coast, then West (or start at west and post to Europe)

Otherwise we may have a full day plus waiting for each player to recieve and pass on...

Just a thought.

Ian

nukkxx5058 -> RE: Fast PBEM - 4 Nations (7/19/2005 12:42:06 AM)

Thanks for the correction ;-)

nukkxx5058 -> RE: Fast PBEM - 4 Nations (7/19/2005 12:47:52 AM)

nukkxx5058 -> RE: Fast PBEM - 4 Nations (7/19/2005 1:19:41 AM)

Let's wait for ian to decide his country and we can start.

Any preference for the options ?

Belphegor -> RE: Fast PBEM - 4 Nations (7/19/2005 1:21:07 AM)

no preference on options....

nukkxx5058 -> RE: Fast PBEM - 4 Nations (7/19/2005 1:33:59 AM)

ok, so if you agree, I suggest to change victory conditions from "scenario default" to "highest glory".

Belphegor -> RE: Fast PBEM - 4 Nations (7/19/2005 1:36:19 AM)

ok by me

TheRockSal -> RE: Fast PBEM - 4 Nations (7/19/2005 1:47:54 AM)
