The Thai destroyer Sua-Khamrons Indhu today succumbed to the pasting she took during the battle of Singapore a couple of days ago, and sank at her moorings.

Elsewhere, nothing much to report. A British submarine unsuccessfully attempted to attack our ships retiring from that battle through the South China Sea.

As October begins, here's the latest score screen. The disparity in value concerning sunk ships is quite clear.

Last night, a small group of Imperial ships returning from the Battle of Singapore was intercepted in the middle of the South China Sea by a multinational force of enemy destroyers.

Unfortunately for them, His Imperial Majesty's battleship Iwami was still more than capable of defending herself, and while our destroyer Nokaze was unfortunately lost, this was more due to damage sustained at Singapore than to any action taken by enemy ships this night. Hits were observed on at least 4 enemy vessels before they realised their folly and slipped away into the darkness.

And people say mid-ocean intercepts aren't feasible...

This night, it turned out that the Allied battle force which gave our ships such a wallopping at Singapore a few nights ago had chosen to follow our retiring ships home. Once again led by the predreadnought Agamemnon, the group overtook and engaged a small number of our ships, led by the battleship Iwami. This time, it was our turn to be outgunned, and once again, Agamemnon's fire proved distressingly accurate.

The skirmish cost me two destroyers outright, and placed the Iwami in a similar situation to the Ikoma a couple of days ago:

[image]local://upfiles/16369/2F5E8B1DA76F4A8BA5FB94B7D94AD4A5.jpg[/image]

Nice aggressive move by Bill.

Elsewhere, another Japanese destroyer was torpedoed by RN submarine K-16 at Port Arthur of all places. The submarine had been detected a couple of turns ago, and an ASW group sent to chase it away. That process didn't start out too well...

In their quest to wreak vengeance on the Allied enemy for the last few days of mayhem in the South China Sea, the Imperial Navy's battlecruiser squadron found a small force of enemy destroyers last night. For once, the luck was not with the other side, and although the only immediate victim was the destroyer HMS Raider, we are confident that more enemies will fall by the wayside over the coming days.

Elsewhere, the last unliberated part of the Phillipines, Tacloban, saw the landing of Imperial ground forces today.

Terminus -> RE: War Report - 5th of October, 1922 (1/9/2006 3:48:22 PM)

A busy night in the South China Sea. As expected, the battleship Iwami succumbed to her damage, sinking about 150 miles from Manilla. Additionally, submarine No. 39 was sunk as a result of several days of depth charging by the enemy.

On the opposite side, British destroyers HMS Tarpon and HMS Trojan, as well as the American USS Rathburne were all put under. Apparently, I can only sink destroyers![:@]

A special bounty has been put on the head of the crack Allied naval strategist Durrant, whom Imperial Intelligence understands has been given command of the British destroyer Vendetta. The fiend will soon be found and sent to meet his ancestors.

(Can't wait for him to receive the British monitor HMS Terror. Then I'll have a jolly time finding, and sinking, my own ship![:D])

On land, Tacloban fell. This does not constitute the final liberation of the Phillipines, as erroneously stated earlier. Some junior ensign in the Department of Charts and Maps forgot Tawi Tawi.

More ships going KA-BOOM this turn. Unfortunately no big ones, but a few bright spots. An unescorted group of Allied AK's was found near Hong Kong, and a couple were sunk. At Shanghai, the British cargo vessel Empire Raleigh was attacked, on the surface, by submarine No.15, and speared on two of the dinky little 45cm torpedoes. Still, she was burning pretty badly. A good night for our side!

Where are the heavies, Durrant? They certainly weren't at Singapore last night.

Instead, we found a large force of US, Phillipino and Thai gun- and torpedo boats. A few rounds later, five of them were on the bottom of the sea.

USS Barker, and HMS's Tintagel, Tribune, Trinidad, Tintagel, Vendetta and Vivacious were the victims of the overwhelming firepower of our battleline.

Elsewhere, Imperial troops landed on Tawi Tawi.
