"5. Kazakhstan
Throw the cash down the well...
Amid efforts by Kazakhstan to prove it's not the backward land portrayed in the movie Borat, the nation's central bank misspells the Kazakh word for "bank" on its 2,000- and 5,000-tenge notes."

I got a laugh out of this one:

quote:

"64. The name was not sufficiently precise to inform a purchaser of the true nature of the food."

-- From a letter sent by the Powys County Council in Wales, threatening legal action against Black Mountains Smokery, maker of Welsh Dragon Sausages.

The manufacturer is ordered to change the name of its product, since it does not, in fact, contain dragon meat.

Ah, a Douglas Adams fan....excellent.

I thought it was "The Vogon ships hung in the air exeactly the way bricks don't"

Why were we forced to read crappy Shakepear as English Lit when we had Adams to read? Much better if you ask me.

Was watching the news tonight. We have had 58 inches of snow so far this season.  The average is 61 inches for the whole season.  We still have March and April to get through, they are #1 and #3 for snow.

Thats nature's way of telling you that living in the mountains a mile above sea level is not a good idea.

Agreed. I can enjoy both Adams and Uncle Willie, but Adams is just infinitely more accessible.

Terry Pratchett is another. At least his early to middle series books. The later Discworld stories have been disappointing.

Ook!

Yet another reason not to leave your car running while you run in for a pack of cigarettes...

http://www.funpic.hu/en.picview.php?id=31517&c=-2&s=dd&p=1

This one reminds me of what happened to my oldest friend: the day before he was supposed to leave on a 2 week planned for since age 12 vacation (to New Zealand to see Halley's Comet), some woman in his condo stopped to pay her monthly maintainence fee, leaving her car running at the top of a hill with her TWO YEAR OLD BOY in the front seat... who (soon after Mama was out of sight) put the car in gear, which accelerated down the hill into the side of my friend's car... the kid was fine... his car was not...

well, there was the recent Steakhouse hijack attempt.....and this morning we had yet another "GG is an Axis Fanboy" thread due to an alleged bias built into Zero vs Wildcat fights.

Then again, maybe he's just annoyed at his internship.
