Well, this looks like a 20 mm sniping rifle. Some guys have constructed these, and one guy formed a small company and tried to sell this to the Army. However, on the way to demo it, they stopped for gas, and some yutz managed to leave the weapon loaded and another yutz fired it. It went through the pickup truck and into the gas pumps - exploding a pump, starting a large fire, and destroying the gas station (iirc, they had the gun loaded with an explosive round.)

They fled the scene of the crime, but were arrested shortly thereafter. For some reason, the Army declined to conclude a contract with them!

A sinister look though to be sure. Note the narrow eyes, the inhuman stare. This one is hiding something for sure. We should probably tap his phone lines.

Hmmm - maybe, but i thought he was a full-time police detective.

Possibly Mike Solli??

EDIT: Mike Solli's post showed up belatedly - and he is indeed the Spider Mite Man!!

Sadly, no. After being a Medical Service Corps officer for many years, I made a slip and went to a school to be a logistician. Now I do this for a living instead of making a pitance of an income working at a major univeristy spending the summers watching the sunbathers. Oh yeah, I did actually work during the school year.

I was thinking it was some kind of anti-tank rifle. I think the Finns used a 20mm rifle as an ATR.

Many European nations had a 20 mm ATR at the start of WWII.

I was thinking it was some kind of anti-tank rifle. I think the Finns used a 20mm rifle as an ATR.

Lahti Model 39 anti-tank rifle
20 mm ATR
Mag: 10 box
Length overall: 88.2 in (224 cm)
Sight radius: 30.3 in ( 77 cm)
Barrel length: 51.1 in (130 cm)
Weight: 109.1 lbs (49.5 kg) unloaded without magazine
Weight of empty magazine: 7.5 lbs (3.4 kg)
AP round weight: 0.7 lb (0.337 kg)
AP bullet weight: 0.3 lb (0.148 kg)
AP tracer bullet weight: 0.3 lb (0.152 kg)
Charge weight: 37 g

Muzzle velocity: 800 mps

Penetration mm Degrees Distance meters
--------------------------------
30 90 ?
20 60 300
16 60 500

One of the better ATR's, though obsolescent, like all ATR's, before the war even began.

A 20mm sniper rifle......yikes! That would not seem very useful for a mobile sniper. Can't see myself sneaking through the high weeds with a tank gun on my back.

Yeah - as i recall they used Lahti's and Boye's and a couple of other actions to try to develop a 20 mm sniping weapon. But as you pointed out, the weight and size of these monsters is prohibitive...

My parent's response would have been, "too bad you destroyed you're keyboard son. Guess you will just have to do without your computer until you earn the money to buy a new one. Oh, and since you have the extra time on your hands why don't you go clean out the garage."

Yeah, take a break today. I just had an inspirational thought. One of my spreadsheets shows the number of planes (by type) on the front line, the number in reserve (trained), those training and the reinforcements coming in the next 90 days. My opponent and I have been sending insults back and forth today (guess he's having a slow day too) and I realized that I should add a column that has my current pool and another with my monthly production. This could help me determine when to turn off or on my factories.

LOL, I don't have that talent. I also only list planes I currently have in the inventory and don't bother with float planes or transports.
