Also, just to keep you guys up to date, we just got back from Ringo Starr and His Allstar Band. He had Shiela E, Edgar Winter, Richard Marx, Rod Argent and Billy Squier. It was very good. 2 1/2 hours of straight music with no intermission.

Remember "When I'm 64"? Paul McCartney turned 64 recently. Enjoy this list
(painfully).

HITS OF THE 60's REVISITED
It was fun being a baby boomer - until now. Some of the artists of the 60's
are revising their hits with new lyrics to accommodate baby boomers (again).

They include:
Herman's Hermits -- Mrs. Brown, You've Got a Lovely Walker.
The Bee Gees -- How Can You Mend a Broken Hip.
Bobby Darin -- Splish, Splash, I Was Havin' a Flash.
Ringo Starr -- I Get By With a Little Help From Depends.
Roberta Flack --The First Time Ever I Forgot Your Face.
Johnny Nash -- I Can't See Clearly Now.
Paul Simon -- Fifty Ways to Lose Your Liver
The Commodores -- Once, Twice, Three Times to the Bathroom.
Marvin Gaye -- Heard It Through the Grape Nuts.
Leo Sayer -- You Make Me Feel Like Napping..
The Temptations -- Papa's Got a Kidney Stone.
Abba -- Denture Queen.
Tony Orlando -- Knock 3 Times On The Ceiling If You Hear Me Fall.
Helen Reddy -- I Am Woman, Hear Me Snore.
Willie Nelson -- On the Commode Again

I just use one of the contracts with x number of minutes. Works fine for us. I do realize one size does not fit all.

Ah - mysteriously, when i arrived at work this a.m. - the phone now works (whew!)

i had found i used a grand total of about 20 minutes air time in the last year - at about $60+/month (by the time all the freakin' taxes were figured in). 12 x $60 = $720/20 = $340 per minute, plus the cost of the cell phone (amortized over 2 years) = about $520 per minute! Plus, it seems most times that i needed it, there was either no coverage, or the battery would go dead.

i would rather NOT HAVE a cell phone, but wife got annoyed, and pretty much insisted i get one for one she needed to contact me (the remote has a very limited range! )

By using a prepaid phone, total cost is about $100/year. i could have cut this to ZERO if my wife had remembered to send me an e-mail on a promo that would have gotten me enough minutes for a year - i didn't discover the promo until too late.

Did the booze help? I loved the book and hated the 1st movie (Nudity and explosions give it an automatic 2 stars but it was terrible)

I have ST2 on my list for Netflix. Is it worth the time to watch it?

Another bank, like Pink Floyd, that I just did not get. Must be the lack of drug use on my part. The Who was much better.

Sadly I recognize all the songs you have listed.

Not TOO terribly hard - right click on the flying penguin - download it - save with some nice file name.

Then you have to go into your profile and replace the current file you have as an avatar with the new flying penguin file... you will have to upload the new file - it is less than 23000 bytes, so it should be ok size-wise.

This is strange - it is only 23000-24000 bytes large (depending on which program is telling me) ... let me check on this.

Morning tithe!

I'm really not a rock-n-roller, but Led Zep, Floyd and The Who were 3 of the most talented bands to come from that era. They were all very good musicians. The Beatles would certainly have to be in a top 5 as well, rounded out with Queen (a little bit later than those, but still a 60's/70's era band).

Odd - it says the DIMENSION limits are too large, yet it is a small gif. Lots of other folks have animated gifs as avatars... hmmm... i'll have to try to figure out how to make it smaller and retain the animation...

Actually by Justin Hayward but it is on their Time Traveller compelation:

Forever Autumn
Justin Hayward

The summer sun is fading as the year grows old
And darker days are drawing near...
The winter winds will be much colder
Now you're not here.
I watch the birds fly south across the autumn sky
And one by one they disappear.
I wish that I was flying with them
Now you're not here

Like a song through the trees you came to love me
Like a leaf on a breeze you blew away...

Through autumn's golden gown we used to kick our way
You always loved this time of year.
Those fallen leaves lie undisturbed now
'Cause you're not here

Like a song throught the trees you came to love me
Like a leaf on a breeze you blew away...

A gentle rain falls softly on my weary eyes
As if to hide a lonely tear...
My life will be forever autumn
'Cause you're not here!

1st appeared on the sound track to War Of the Worlds audio albumin the 70s along with Thunderchild.

The War of the Worlds Soundtrack Lyrics

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Artist: Lyrics
Song: THUNDER CHILD Lyrics

PEOPLE: There were ships of shapes and sizes
Scattered out along the bay
And I thought I heard her calling
As the steamer pulled away
The Invaders must have seen them
As across the coast they filed
Standing firm between them
There lay Thunder Child

Moving swiftly through the waters
Cannons blazing as she came
Brought a mighty metal War-Lord
Crashing down in sheets of flame
Sensing victory was nearing
Thinking fortune must have smiled
People started cheering
'Come on Thunder Child'
'Come on Thunder Child'

JOURNALIST: The Martians released their Black Smoke, but the ship sped on, cutting
down one of the tripod figures. Instantly, the others raised their Heat Rays and melted
the Thunder Child's valiant heart.

PEOPLE: Lashing ropes and smashing timbers
Flashing Heat Rays pierced the deck
Dashing hopes for our deliverance
As we watched the sinking wreck
With the smoke of battle clearing
Over graves in waves defiled
Slowly disappearing
Farewell Thunder Child!
Slowly disappearing
Farewell Thunder Child!
Farewell Thunder Child!
Farewell Thunder Child!

JOURNALIST: When the smoke cleared, the little steamer had reached the
misty horizon, and Carrie was safe. But the Thunder Child had vanished forever,
taking with her man's last hope of victory. The leaden sky was lit by green flashes,
cylinder following cylinder, and no one and nothing was left now to fight them. The
Earth belonged to the Martians.

MARTIANS: Ulla!
