Hi all,

Points:

Japanese: +767
Allied: +2084

Bases:

Japanese: - 6 bases (+19 points)
Allied: + 6 bases (+357 points)

Planes:

Allies lost: 488
Japanese lost: 1056

Troops:

Allies lost: 140 points
Japanese lost: 437 points

Ships:

Allies lost: 17 ships - 120 points. All AK, MSW, LST from Wake/Timor.
Japanese lost: 28 ships - 223 points. IIRC only one of these was lost to naval gunfire at Rangoon + 1-2 IJN SS = 24-25 ships sunk by submarines this month. N.B. CVL Chiyoda is still NOT appearing in sunk ships list.

---------------------

Thoughts = a pretty decent month points wise overall. Happy enough with my subs. A few more are getting damaged by ASW but I have enough coming on board to gradually increase numbers on deployment.

About 1/2 of my points increase was due to Japanese plane loss. A large chuink of them over Moulmein.

Next month will see the main focus on SRA and Burma.

How can you have negative political points??? -1535????

You can have negative political points by failing to withdraw British ships (as stated in rule book, even! )

Hi all,

Bruce - Many thanks. I will look and post back.

Castor - As Trap says this is due to not withdrawing RN ships when ordered to.

-----------------------

The first day of February passes uneventfully............

SS Triton missed TK Isshin Maru with 4 torpedoes 60 miles MW of Brunei. 2 x DC near miss - 14/0/0

SS Tang was hunted by but avoided 5 x DD 300 miles WNW of San Marcelino.

SS Raton was attacked by 3 x convoy escort 480 miles WNW of Saipan. 3 x near miss DC - 29/3/0

SS Bluegill scored her first kill of the war. 3 torpeodes hit home on TK Tonan Maru #2 breaking the ship up 120 miles WNW of Aparri. The escorts failed to locate her.

SS Spearfish was hunted by 5 x MSW 60 miles east of Batavia. 1 x DC hit - 22/23/0. Returning to Darwin for R & R. SS Tuna en route to replace her.

Air sightings = 12
Air attacks = 0

------------------------

Rangoon was hit again by BB's causing 400+ casualties, 6 guns and damage to 4 x AK.

------------------------

The reduction of Eniwetok has been ordered for tomorrow. All B24 at Majuro are tasked with bombing the airfields.

------------------------

Hiei and Kirishima were spotted 300 miles north of Koepang today. 10 x B25J located them from Lautem. No hits were achieved.

With supplies virtually all unloaded my freighters at Koepang have been ordered to return to Darwin.

-------------------------

BB Queen Elizabeth, 3 x AK and a DD arrive in theatre tomorrow.

Hi all,

Bad weather prevented any B24's launching from Majuro. If the weather is ok we fly tomorrow against Eniwetok.

Infact weather has been bad over the Marshalls and Ledo (Burma) for the past 3-4 days non-stop.

-----------------

Rangoon was bombarded again by both SC TF's.

This time AK Yamabato Maru succumbed to her wounds throughout the day.

Hopefully troops will advance across the Irrawady to Pagan over the next 2 days. My strength continues to regain at Mandalay while his remains about 3250AV. We try again when at maximum strength - 3950AV.

-----------------

SS Tally Ho was hunted by convoy escorts 180 miles ENE of Palembang. PC CH5 dropped 2 x DC nearby - 11/0/0

SS Sailfish avoided 4 x DD 360 miles WNW of Tori Shima.

SS Angler hit the troop laden AP Huso Maru with a torpedo 120 miles WNW of Tori Shima. DD Fujinami put 2 x DC nearby - 7/0/0.

Good news. AP Terukuni Maru hit near Balikpapan sank with the loss of some 5th Division material.

Also CVL Chiyoda appears on the sunk list - 117 VP's.

SS Thresher unfortunately sank due to her wounds suffered near Hiyo.

Air sightings = 12
Air attacks = 0

----------------------

ML Terror and an MLE are leaving the Wake area for Darwin. Time to lay mines in captured SRA bases and make IJN bombardment runs harder.

An Aviation Rgt is leaving Darwin today for Koepang.

----------------------

An AK, LST, LSV, AO and a DD arrive in theatre tomorrow as does 93rd USA Division.

Hi all,

Ahhhh my first turn from my laptop at work

-----------------

A mixed day of fortunes for my submariners today............

SS Whale missed AK Hohuku Maru with 4 torpedoes 60 miles NW of Tori Shima.

SS Seal was detected and attacked by several convoy escorts NE of taytay. 2 x near miss DC, 1 x hit DC - 40/46/0. Returning to Darwin.

SS Flier performed well today and went down fighting.......she hit 2 x AK (Sanju Maru and Brisbane Maru) with 2 torpeodes each leaving both probably sinking. Unfortunately after the second attack DD Hatsuyuki located Flier and landed 3 x DC nearby and 1 x DC hit. This hit caused massive flooding and the brave men perished 120 miles ESE of Saigon.

SS Guavina probably sank the oil laden TK Isshin Maru with 2 torpedo hits 60 miles NW of San Marcelino.

Air sightings = 16
Air attacks = 0

--------------------------

Bad weather again throughout most of Burma and the Marshalls = few air raids. It's been days of constant bad weather........

--------------------------

Hopefully my forces will move across the river towards Pagan tomorrow.

--------------------------

1st USMC Para Bn, 2 x BF are embarking at Darwin today bound for Maumere. they will dock at Koepang where air power will fly what they can to Maumere and the rest will follow by ships when secured.

To facilitate further operations on Java an Aviation Rgt, 3 x BF and 2 x CD units are moving throughout Australia to Darwin.

Hi all,

LOL Robert......Char (bis) as Nik says

------------------

SS Scorpion damaged AK Kinai Maru east of Balikpapan with a torpedo in the early hours of the morning.

SS Tactician got in some licks on AK Goyo Maru in the Malacca Strait. She surfaced and put a fish along with 11 shells into the ships leaving it heavily damaged.

Air sightings = 12
Air attacks = 0

------------------

SEAC troops should move on Pagan tomorrow. 3 enemy units are reported present now. I doubt success but it will occupy some enemy troops.

AK's are embarking 7th Indian Division and another Av. Rgt at Karachi. They will move to Chandpur and the next invasion.............

My Brit CV's are leaving Moulmein to try and intercept the enemy convoy attacked by SS Tactician in the Malacca Strait.

Faber launched a surprise sweep of Zeke and Tony's from Hanoi over Yunan. 80 x Zeke and 36 x Tony found 16 x P38G on CAP. My veterans performed well though shooting down 12 x Zeke and 5 x Tony for the loss of 5 x friendly before the Japanese withdrew.

------------------

A PT boat squadron has been assembled at Lautem and at Koepang.

Koepang's Aviation Support should arrive in 2 days.

The initial Maumere forces will leave Darwin for Koepang today.

Recon of Bali indicates only 1 enemy unit present. Nice.

------------------

Bad weather again prevents planes taking off from Majuro. Hmmmmpf.

------------------

An AK, LCI, DE and DD arrive in theatre tomorrow.

Hi all,

Well at last the weather cleared over Majuro allowing 191 B24's to fly towards Eniwetok. 63 enemy fighters were on CAP (Zeke, Tony, George, Jack) and they performed very well in shooting down 55 x B24. Over 100 bombers hit the airfields though destroying 48 enemy planes on the ground.

I lost 60ish to 50ish Japanese planes for the day. Not great but if I can bomb again tomorrow I can keep Eniwetok closed for good.

-----------------------

SS Porpoise heavily damaged the small transport Kashu Maru with a torpedo 240 miles SE of Iwo Jima. PC Etoforu landed 2 x DC nearby - 6/0/0.

TK Isshin Maru was confirmed sunk today in Manila port.

Air sightings = 15
Air attacks = 0

-----------------------

Rangoon was shelled throughout the night.

Brit CV's move towards Georgetown tomorrow to attack any enemy shipping.

SEAC forces stormed towards Pagan and i'm actually quite happy wirth my men:

Ground combat at Pagan

Allied Shock attack

Attacking force 33792 troops, 317 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 845

Defending force 20022 troops, 88 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 428

Allied max assault: 680 - adjusted assault: 307

Japanese max defense: 284 - adjusted defense: 384

Allied assault odds: 0 to 1 (fort level 9)

Japanese ground losses:
840 casualties reported
Guns lost 11

Allied ground losses:
710 casualties reported
Guns lost 19

3 enemy units are present - 55th Division, 1st Para Rgt, BF. 2 more units are east of Pagan. We bombard tomorrow and then try again.

---------------------

A DD arrives in theatre tomorrow as does a Beaufort squadron (Sydney. Very useful), Havoc BG and PB4Y Squadron.

Hi all,

The weather was good over Majuro and Eniwetok again. This time PB4Y's from Wake also joined in the attack. Enemy CAP was much lower today and only 5 x B24 were shot down. 85 x enemy fighters were blown up on the ground. We keep going day after day with as much flying as possible. I need to keep Eniwetok closed and then I can move towards the Marianas with a safe southern flank.

-------------------

SS Muskallunge is back in action today attacking the convoy that SS Porpoise did yesterday. The empty transport Josho Maru was hit with a torpedo 300 miles NE of Pagan. PC Oki dropped DC's 4 of which were near misses - 16/0/0.

SS Tang missed AK Yamagiku Maru 300 miles WNW of San Marcelino.

SS Pollack heavily damaged AP Tatumiya Maru with 2 torpeodes 300 miles east of Truk.

Air sightings = 10
Air attacks = 0

--------------------

My British CV's found what is probably the freighter convoy that SS Tactician attacked the other day. 3 x AK were hit with Avenger torpeodes. 2 of which sank. My CV's will continue further south past Georgetown towards Singapore.

I'm going to attack at Pagan again tomororw. I'm not hopeful of success but we try.

2 x AK sank at their moorings in Rangoon harbour after days of batterng by my BB's.

--------------------

Timor - Aviation Support is ashore at Koepang and today a Sunderland squadron, Beaufort squadron, P38J FG and a Spitfire squadron flew in.

Maumere's initial forces should be at Koepang within 2 days. Transports will land at Koepang tomorrow ready to ferry para's to Maumere.

---------------------

The forces allocated for the Marianas are HUGE. I will detail them in due course but they are huge. Today further forces were embarked at San Francisco in preparation: 4th USMC Division, 2 x ARM Amphib Bn's, 2 x ART Group, 4 x SeeBee, 1 x Av. Rgt, 2 x BF, 1 x CD Rgt, 2 x HQ.

Oh look what I see on the bottom of the plane reinforcement lists...........

Hi all,

This day was attributed to Nik who has unfortunately left our community. A true gent who helped many a person, provided stability/balance against the dark side and was damn humourous too

-------------------

The 7th February saw attacks at Pagan and Mandalay by Allied forces. I forgot to mention I thought I would experiment with ARM forces at Mandalay since the Japanese have pretty weak anti-tank weaponary. It didn't work. I lost 2000 men to his 200. Little in the way of armour was destroyed though. I will rest and recover and then attack again with all units in time.

Pagan was a slightly different matter:

Ground combat at Pagan

Allied Deliberate attack

Attacking force 32591 troops, 288 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 754

Defending force 18248 troops, 49 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 364

Allied engineers reduce fortifications to 8

Allied max assault: 359 - adjusted assault: 54

Japanese max defense: 223 - adjusted defense: 357

Allied assault odds: 0 to 1 (fort level 8)

Japanese ground losses:
221 casualties reported
Guns lost 3

Allied ground losses:
367 casualties reported
Guns lost 13

I won't take the place since i'm low on supply through the jungle trails but it will occupy more of Faber's forces which is good.

My Brit CV's moved nearer to Singapore without finding any booty.

Rangoon bombarded again. An AK sank at it's moorings.

--------------------------

Marine Para's will disembark at Koepang tomorrow. As such 127 x Commando transport planes (1 crashed on take-off) will land at Koepang throughout the day in preparation for airlifting the Marine's to Maumere.

--------------------------

A further 75 enemy fighters were torched at Eniwetok. Good boys. Keep the place closed.

LBA attacks on airbases and troops throughout the Marshalls.

Ships getting in some good R & R and upgrades at PH.

--------------------------

SS Mingo evaded 5 x MSW east of Tarakan.

SS Devilfish misses AK Chosen Maru with 6 torpedoes off the NW tip of Borneo

SS S-35 was attacked by convoy escorts near the southern Kuriles. 3 x near miss, 1 x hit - 35/36/0. Returning to Attu Island for repair.

Air sightings = 13
Air attacks = 2

AP Tatumiya Maru was confirmed sunk today.

--------------------------

SS Tantalus, an AK and an AP arrive in theatre tomorrow.

Hi all,

Yes i'm afraid Nik has left our community, at least for now.

-------------------

Today was a VERY interesting day for sure.

Let's focus on the main event....my Brit CV's SW of Singapore............

Scouting Avenger's located an enemy TF 180 miles SE and in the afternoon several TF's at Palembang. Also known were 2 x convoy's attacked and located by British SS's nearing Palembang (screenshot below shows the situation)

In the morning a full strike of 38 x Avenger II was launched against the TF 180 miles SE. I believe this TF to be auxilliary ships fleeing Singapore. The following were hit:

Day Air attack on TF at 25,52

Allied aircraft
Corsair IV x 34
Avenger II x 38

Allied aircraft losses
Avenger II: 1 destroyed, 2 damaged

Japanese Ships
AS Taigei, Torpedo hits 1, on fire, heavy damage
AK Zuiko Maru, Torpedo hits 1, on fire
AD AD-3162, Torpedo hits 1, on fire, heavy damage
AK Tokihime Maru, Torpedo hits 2, on fire, heavy damage
AK Kosin Maru, Torpedo hits 4, on fire, heavy damage
TK Ceram Maru, Torpedo hits 3, on fire, heavy damage
AK Kasyu Maru, Torpedo hits 1, on fire
AK Yamaoka Maru, Torpedo hits 2, on fire, heavy damage

Nice to tag an AS and AD. 3 x AK and the AD were confirmed sunk by the end of the day. Good to get the large TK Ceram Maru aswell. I doubt she'll survive either.

In the PM phase CVE Unyo was spotted at Palembang! A rush strike was assembled and 11 x Avenger took off escorted by 29 x Corsair to attack the convoy. 80 x enemy fighters were on CAP but my av. exp. 80 Corsair pilots performed very well and destroyed 49 of them for the loss of 6 x Corsair and 1 x Avenger. Torpeodes streaked towards Unyo......all of which missed:

Day Air attack on TF, near Palembang at 20,55

Japanese aircraft
A6M5 Zeke x 9
Ki-44-IIb Tojo x 22
Ki-45 KAIa Nick x 18
Ki-61 KAIc Tony x 33

Allied aircraft
Corsair IV x 29
Avenger II x 11

Japanese aircraft losses
A6M5 Zeke: 5 destroyed
Ki-44-IIb Tojo: 10 destroyed
Ki-45 KAIa Nick: 10 destroyed
Ki-61 KAIc Tony: 22 destroyed

Allied aircraft losses
Corsair IV: 6 destroyed, 4 damaged
Avenger II: 1 destroyed, 6 damaged

Japanese Ships
CVE Unyo

Now some tough decisions had to be made today. Do we retire knowing I have enough munitions left for 1-2 strikes and also judging by intel and code-breakers that large numbers of enemy aircraft have been flown into Singapore and Palembang? Or do we progress further south and catch some real nice booty?

I decided to gamble and move further south tomorrow.............we wait and see and hope.

--------------------

At the same time at Koepang USMC Para's were being handed out orders to airdrop onto Maumere tomorrow. The place is apparently empty. At the same time a convoy carrying 2 x BF is leaving Koepang to land at Maumere within 2-3 days. She will be covered by P38J's from Koepang.

--------------------

SS Truculent hit 2 x AK in 2 separate convoys today 180 miles ENE of Palembang. Firstly AK Juyo Maru was left damaged after a torpedo hit. 2 hours later a further convoy appeared and AK Chosen Maru (missed by Devilfish yesterday) took a torpedo in the stern.

SS Seawolf sank AK Toa Maru with 2 torpeodes in the middle of the Sulu Sea. The ship hit in the bow and amidships quickly slipped beneath the waves.

Air sightings = 8
Air attacks = 0

--------------------

2 x SS, 2 x LST, a DD and an AK arrive in thetare tomorrow.

Tomorrow could be a fun day over Maumere and with the British CV's near Palembang.

Hi all,

Well the main area of action today, as expected, was with the British CV's in the SRA.

Faber, rightly so, moved most of the convoys and the CVE Unyo group out of range and all my CV's found was a probable ASW TF which was stumbled upon! The CLAA's proved aggressive though and DD Sanae and DD Asagao were pummeled into burning wrecks and sank.

When daylight broke the British CV Commander Ll Biset (located 120 miles east of Muntok Island) seemed bent on retribution and dispatched the main strike on the ASW TF. DD Wakatake, MSW Ataka Maru and MSW Sonobe Maru all took torpedo hits with both the MSW's sinking.

A smaller strike desposed of the damaged AK Chosen Maru to the west of the CV's.

Then a mass of enemy airstrikes came in from Palembang and Singapore. The amount of enemy planes was staggering.

My elite Corsairs kicked arse though and by the end of the day 188 enemy planes had been lost! My Corsairs lost over 1/2 their number though and many aces have fallen (I had visions here of Arthur's Knights fighting against Mordred's masses in 'Excalibur'). An example:

Day Air attack on TF at 23,55

Japanese aircraft
A6M5 Zeke x 9
J2M Jack x 11
Ki-44-IIb Tojo x 22
Ki-45 KAIa Nick x 13
Ki-61 KAIc Tony x 40
Ki-21 Sally x 3
Ki-48 Lily x 3

Allied aircraft
Corsair IV x 12

Japanese aircraft losses
A6M5 Zeke: 3 destroyed
J2M Jack: 5 destroyed
Ki-44-IIb Tojo: 9 destroyed
Ki-45 KAIa Nick: 6 destroyed, 1 damaged
Ki-61 KAIc Tony: 19 destroyed, 1 damaged
Ki-21 Sally: 1 destroyed, 1 damaged
Ki-48 Lily: 2 destroyed

Allied aircraft losses
Corsair IV: 5 destroyed, 2 damaged

Allied Ships
CV Illustrious
CV Formidable

Aircraft Attacking:
1 x Ki-48 Lily bombing at 7000 feet
2 x Ki-21 Sally bombing at 7000 feet

The only damage my force sustained was 1 x 100KG bomb hit on CV Victorious which didn't penetrate the flight deck.

In many ways I was lucky that worse damage was not sustained. My Corsairs performed magnificently but all the enemy bombers got through to attack and only AA kept them at bay.

I attribute the huge air losses to the fact that I have the best fighter in the game piloted by av. exp. 80 pilots against planes that are inferior and I guess with less skilled pilots (since Faber has no place to do on map training). Even so the losses are too much and it proves once more IMO the model should be different.

The point has been made though with no real targets to attack and with my CV's down to 20+ Corsairs, low on ordanance, fuel it is time to leave the scene. It's achieved it's goal though - sinking some enemy ships, disrupting the area and even more so draining further enemy planes and pilots whilst Maumere was invaded and my forces in CentPac rest. We move back past Singapore to Moulmein. Fingers crossed the remaining Corsairs can fend off the hordes.

-----------------------

As mentioned Maumere was captured by USMC Para's and the BF's should land tomorrow. Air support will then be in place.

Hi all,

The slaughter of Japanese airmen continued over my British CV's with 23 x Corsair holding off 150+ aircraft. In total 122 enemy planes were lost today to my 10. Of these probably 90 were shot down by Corsairs or AA. I lost 5 x Corsair in return. Uber indeed..........!

The only damage sustained was 2 x 250KG and 1 x 100KG bomb hit that started a couple of fires and knocked out a 40mm AA mount on CV Victorious.

My CV's are passing Singapore and I don't expect a lot of further trouble from Japanese airpower on my way back to Moulmein. Have to be wary of mines that ML Ma 3 and ML Ma 4 probably laid.

Ridiculous results really even with low % of CAP.

AS Taigei and TK Ceram Maru were reported sunk. Excellent.

---------------------

Massive air raids across Burma against IJA troops and bases at Pagan and Mandalay.

Chinese units are approx. 90 miles east of Lashio. When they get there they will move towards Mandalay to help the Commonwealth troops.

2 x AK sank at Rangoon today following further naval shelling. 2000 enemy casualites were reported.

---------------------

BF elements are ashore at Maumere. The final lots should be ashore tomorrow.

A Fleet Submarine potentially spotted an enemy SC TF leaving Balikpapan. I'll be leaving after tomorrow anyway.

TBM's will be deployed in the region within a weeks time.

Screenshot of the region below.

---------------------

SS Swordfish was attacked by DD Amatsukaze SE of Balikpapan. 2 x DC near miss - 6/1/0

SS Corvina evaded 3 x MSW 120 miles east of Tarakan.

SS Triton sank the small AO Takasaki with a torpedo 60 miles NW of Brunei.

SS Scamp sank the previously damaged AK Tokusima Maru with 2 torpeodes 60 miles SE of Soerabaja.

Over the course of the next week 9 more fleet submarines will leave San Francisco for Darwin to bolster operations down there.

Air sightings = 14
Air attacks = 0

-----------------------

SS Bream and an AK arrive in theatre tomorrow.

Hi all,

Hi Castor - not sure in all honesty.

-----------------

Well today was a bad day for the Royal Navy. At long last my luck failed with the attacks against my retreating CV's. They have just reached Kuala Lumpur when wave after wave of attacks came in from Singapore, Georgetown and Sabang.

My 20 x Corsair once more performed magnificently in shooting down 67 enemy planes for 5 losses but most of the bombers got through. Despite 15 of them being shot down by AA 2 torpeodes slammed home into CV Illustrious and 3 in to CV Victorious

Both are heavily damaged (screenshot below) and I doubt without 100% luck will reach home waters. I have decided to risk leaving CV Formidable with them to try and protect them for another day to see how the damage goes. I will probably end up losing Formidable aswell now but cest la vie.

The price of over-confidence!

As such it will probably bring all sea-borne offensives for SEAC to an end for the forseeable future. Depending on how tomorrow goes I may disclose where I was going to invade next. I will then have to decide whether to put those additional troops into Moulmein, Rangoon or into Mandalay/Pagan.

All in all i'm pissed off but I shouldn't be since I was running a risk and I paid for overconfidence...............at least they have taken 400+ enemy planes down with them and 8-10 enemy ships.

The last AK at Rangoon sunk at it's moorings today.

-----------------------

With Maumere operational a Spitfire and Sunderland squadron are now operating from there.

I was thinking of going straight for Bali but the massed attacks on my British CV's have made me think on this........... I may go for a base inbetween and max it with SeeBee's to support more fighters before going for Bali.

-----------------------

SS Harder hit AP Josho Maru with dud torpeodes 120 miles ENE opf Tori Shima

Air sightings = 14
Air attacks = 1

-----------------------

An AGP, AS, 2 x DE and a DD arrive in theatre tomorrow.

Hi Andy,

Yes. I have looked at this,. I will need to make it near to Victoria Point.

Personally I think a mass of planes will hit me tomorrow and i'll be toast. If the weather blanks him out for 2-3 days and I bring the fire/flooding under control then i'll have 210 P38J's to play with...........I doubt it personally

Hi all,

Too p*ssed off to post much. The CR will have to suffice. Victorious sank, Illusrtrious will follow and Formidable took 2 fish and has to move by a miracle 300 miles to reach P38J CAP range.

As retribution I have decided to move Liberators to Moulmein to smash everything upto northern Malaya. Tomorrow's DS target will be Victoria Point.

Take heart, Speedy. Make it a hollow victory - squash him like a bug!

Hi all,

Hi witpqs - thanks. I will! I am more determined than ever to apply pressure on every front and espeically with massed airpower. He will pay for this. It's never nice losing CV's especially one's that mean more to me - British CV's.....

Having said that I have to give Faber credit for playing how he did and bringing in massed airpower. It eventually paid off for him. Well done Faber.

-------------------

Back to the war..............

Enemy airstrikes came in from Sabang, Georgetown and Victoria Point. CV Illustrious finally succumbed and sank after another 4 bomb hits and 2 torpedoes into the port.

My retreating CLAA's were also attacked and CLAA Capetown took a torpedo causing moderate damage.

Luckily the enemy failed to locate CV Formidable allowing the damage repair teams to extinguish most of the fires. She's now at 55/32/8. The good news is that by daytime tomorrow she will be in P38J range from Moulmein - 210's planes have been massed (the Thunderbolt II's have been withdrawn to Akyab) to provide CAP for the vital ship. Go on boys! 540 miles to go to reach Moulmein.

The attack on Victoria Point, from Moulmein, was a huge success. 27 x Zeke and George were on CAP but my veteran Thunderbolt escort (100 strong) tore them to pieces. Almost 150 x Liberator dropped their load on the airfield destroying 9 x LBA and heavily damaging the runways and support facilities.

We go again tomorrow but only with 1/2 the escort (as Thunderbolt II's have moved to Akyab to provide room for P38J's).

I am still considering what to do with the troops I have at Chandpur. It's ironic and frustrating to think my planned op can't take place due to lack of aircover. As such the only available locations are already defended or can't really offer any flanking advantage. I have thought of one idea though and I will recon around to see if it's feasible..........

-----------------------

Maumere has started to receive 10's of thousands of supplies as 6 x AK unload their cargo.

The first air raid was launched from their today aswell. A Sunderland reported a freighter in Macassar harbour. As such 13 x Vengeance took off escorted by 5 x Spitfire VIII and 25 x P38J. 18 x Tojo were on CAP. 8 of them were shot down (7 by P38J) for the loss of 1 Sptifire VIII. The Vengeance's screamed towards AK Kinai Maru and planted 2 x 500lb bombs through her deck leaving her heavily damaged.

2 x TBM and 1 x SB2C Squadron have arrived at Darwin

------------------------

Eniwetok, Kwajalein, Maloelap and Tarawa received attention from Allied air.

------------------------

SS Sunfish found a troop convoy 180 miles WSW of Takao. She heavily damaged AP Awa Maru with a torpedo. 11 escorts flailed around trying to locate Sunfish. A PG and MSW dropped DC's throughout the day landing 3 x near miss - 16/0/0

Air sightings = 14
Air attacks = 0
