Hi Alfred/Nemo - aye it's something to keep an eye. At present places like Kuala Lumpur/Johore/Mersing/Kuantan are showing as empty. The best thing we can do is to see how the situation is in 2 months time. By then I expect to have Kuching and hopefully Brunei/Miri. This may change Faber's strategy over here as well.

Singakwang was liberated today by USA forces. The Japanese fled into the journey towards Kuching. My men will not follow but will await transports and reinforcements en route from Darwin.

The Darwin elements left today escorted by BB Royal Sovereign.

Air power has already flown into Singkawang - P47D FG, F4UD squadron and a TBM squadron.

Interestingly IJN elements were spotted and attacked throughout the day. DD's were spotted and attacked by a submarine at Kuching.

CL Sendai was attacked by a submarine 240 miles SE of Singapore and then later in the day by LBA 120 miles SE of Singapore. In this engagement DD Usugumo received a bomb hit and DD Yugiri 2 bomb hits leaving her heavily damaged.

I am unsure whether Faber is retreating these units to Singapore and then elsewhere or whether he is going to attack Pontianak/Singkawang. Either way he may net a few supply carrying AK's (that's all that's there for now) but he runs the risk of bomb and torpedo attacks from Singkawang and Pontianak.

CBI will be a quietish theatre for the next couple of months now.

In the SRA as supplies and fuel arrive at Singkawang the Japanese sortie a SC TF around the BB Yamashiro. The TF 1/2 way between Singapore and Singkawang was attacked by TBM's from Singkawang. They were escorrted by F4u1D's and P47D's. What ensued was an 'amazing' air battle over the TF:

I say this is amazing since Faber's pilots were apparently 75 exp. My Corsairs are at 85 and P47D at 78. I can't see how he can lose 60 Franks vs my 6 fighters. Crazy. Another example of a crazy air result in stock IMO.

I will keep my supply convoy at Singkawang since I want him to keep comign nasd risking his ships against my planes. I will also have PT's on station in 2 days. BB Resolution is a week away.

LBA from Babo attacked an enemy convoy that had snuck in to Amboina. AK Yanagigawa was left heavily damaged with 3 bomb hits.

Enemy Grace Kamikazi's attacked a convoy at Pontianak from Kuching. The 3 planes failed to do any damage. 2 missed and 1 was shot down by CAP.

BB Yamashiro TF swept into Singkawang and sank an SC, 2 x AK a TK. Not a major problem. PT's are on station now and BB Resolution is a week away.

Allied LBA attacked the TF but the Japanese had got themselves out of torpedo range. 22 x Frank were shot down for 7 x P47D and 2 x F4U1D. Yamashiro took a bomb hit to no effect.

4 x AP were shelled by Mossie at low level SE of Singapore.

ML Ento was sunk today by SB2C's from Pontianak. The small ship was blown up by 2 bombs outside Teloekbetoeng.

SS Flounder was attacked by 4 x PC 180 miles SE of Hainan. 2 x DC hit, 5 x DC near miss - 37/68/0.

Just currious. How do you destroy 60 when only 37 escort?

This should be accounted for in the After Action Report - any planes participating should be counted in the totals in the report, i think.

Of course, I overlooked that one cannot "escort" a TF, only LRCAP it.

I like your explanation better regarding rotation.  If it were truly the result of FOW, then it would be silly on two counts.  Firstly, one can under/over estimate the number of planes in an engagement/destroyed but the latter total cannot logically exceed the former.  Any intel officer who at the end of his report stated 37 present, 60 destroyed is not competent.  Either he adjusts his figures to read 60 present or 37 destroyed.  Secondly, WITP does not have true FOW when it come to casualties as the daily/running total number of planes destroyed is accurate because it provides VP.

Hi guys - Aye quite often on LRCAP you can shoot down more planes than actually show on the combat screen.

I decided to strike out at Hanoi today with Rangoon's B29's to further damage the HI and Resources there. There was no enemy opposition.

I will keep Kuala Lumpur intact as the only resource centre on Malaya. Could be handy for when I land.

Other than that just a routine day i nthe war with BB Yamashiro looking like it will return to Singkawang tomorrow (PT's await) and my forces moving inbetween Timor and Borneo, Iwo Jima forces on their way to Saipan.

A most annoying surface action at Singkawang as Faber sends in a Cruiser/Destroyer force which sinks 4 x TK and 2 x AK. Another TK and AK will sink aswell. The covering PT's did crap and lost one of their number for no damage to the Japanese.

As such I will be moving the freighters back to Pontianak soon where the extra 60 miles of safety may make a difference until BB Resolution arrives.

Kuching invasion forces are moving SW of Macassar.

Weirdly most of my air units lost pilots today. Not planes just pilots/ Most BG's lost 10-15 for example! I wonder/hope this is just pilot rotation on a mass scale rather than a pilot sapping glitch...........I will check on this next turn.

SS Nautilus damaged the large AP Hakozake Maru with a torpedo 120 miles ENE of Aparri.

2 new sub lines are in place (20 subs). 1 from the PI to China past Formosa. The other from Shanghai and past Okinawa.

CL Sendai + 3 x DD returned to Singkawang throughout the nigth but were driven off by my PT's. I lost a PT in the process though. The only damaged the Japanese TF sustained was from a Mossie FB that put a bomb into Sendai SE of Singapore.

BB Resolution will pass Banja tomorrow. about 3-4 days out of Singkawang.

CV Franklin and CV Hancock are passing the Japanese held Soloman Islands en route to Darwin.

Japanese freighters withdrew from Amboina today but were harrassed by Allied LBA from Babo and Bulla. 2 x AK were left heavily damaged and AK Shingetsu Maru was confirmed sunk by SB2C's.

Saipan's B29's will target Toyama's HI tomorrow.

I'm starting to think of clearing enemy bases in the Marshalls, Gilberts and Solomans now. Soon I will form Transport and CVE TF's in San Francisco for tese invasions hich will take back many bases and also bag many weary Japanese troops in the Marshalls and Gilberts. A full composition will be shown shortly.

The pilot 'problem' appears to have been a mass rotation one since the filled units are fine now.

SS Lancetfish put a torpedo into the already damaged DD Kagero 60 miles SW of Saigon leaving her heavily damaged.

SS Seal performed heroically in sinking PC PC-9 with a torpedo 180 miles south of Hong Kong. In return this veteran (she was the terror of Banjarmasin during 1943 sinking upto 15 enemy ships) was attacked heavily by PC PC-20 and PC PC-5 received 2 x DC hit and 13 x DC near miss - 40/69/0. Limping back to Darwin

Burma - 254th Indian Tk Bde stormed across the river NE of Rahaeng smashing the fleeing Japanese units back to 60 miles from Rahaeng. I don't intend to go into Rahaeng but it's good for killing more of the enemy and to have a unit neare Rahaeng for any future developments.

Rangoon's B29's are ordered to flatten Saigon's small HI factories.

SRA - The Kuching invasion force will be at Pontianak within 2 days. Interestingly it appears another Japanese SC TF is about to move towards either Singkawang or Pontianak. Both are guarded by PT's for now. If he would come towards Pontianak in 2 days time it would be fun. LBA would smash any stragglers.

Koepang's Heavies hit Tarakan's resources again leaving about 150 left . I've noticed even with B29's it's very hard to get large production sites below 100 operational.

Anorther AK was sunk off Amboina by LBA.

The B29 raid on Toyama was a success with no enemy fighters on CAP 200 of the 420 HI production was damaged

I would love to know what state the Japanese industry is in. I wonder if his HI stocks are beginning to fall and what level of oil he has since he has few oil production sites operational and the ones that are don't have many TK's to run around and get it.

I'm starting to prepare for the clearing out of isolated Japanese bases. First of which is Tarawa. This involves the following units:

96th USA Division
3 x RCT
Fiji Bde
3 x ARM Bn
2 x ART Bn
2 x HQ

Tarawa has been smashed for over a year now by LBA. I don't expect much fight left in the Japanese.

1/2 of my forces are already in place (Makin, Apamama) and the other 1/2 are embarking at San Francisco. 1-2 CVE TF's will be formed to accompany this force.

Saigon's HI has been shattered by a precision daylight raid. Tomorrow Rangoon's B29's will go for the Resources.

Faber has done well on my convoy at Singkawang/Pontianak. He has probably destroyed about 8 x TK and 14 x AK (including today). He did well today in routing his CA/CL/DD force into Pontianak evading the PT's (again. Whoever says they are uber look at my results ) and sank 9 x AK.

BB Resolution and Co. will be on site tomorrow so I hope he comes back.

In retaliation my airforce at Singkawang struck out at his retreating ships. My Corsairs shot down 19 x Zeke on CAP (ENS Walker scored his 2nd to 11th kills today!) and the TBM's had a clear run..............but missed all of his ships and lost 6 planes to AA

My SB2C's performed better in putting 2 bombs into DD Oboro. This fatally slowed her down for later in the day..............they also hit CA Nachi with 2 non-penetrating bomb hits.

The last Japanese AK was sunk today at Amboina by LBA from Bulla.

Pontianak has reached level 4 airfields and a Havoc BG will be stationed there within 2 days to bomb Kuching.

Mainly a day of submarine action.

SS Skipjack missed DD Wakatake with 4 torpedoes outside of Kuching. In return she received 2 x DC near miss - 4/0/0.

SS Drum staying on station after her victory yesterday was sunk by 4 x PC craft. She received 3 x DC hit and 8 x DC near miss.

SS Lancetfish evaded 6 x convoy escorts 60 miles SW of Saigon.

SS Hoe blew up AK Tsurushima Maru with 2 torpedoes 120 miles east of Tori Shima.

SS Trespasser evaded 2 x DD 180 miles SE of Singapore.

Air sightings = 26
Air attacks = 3
Air hits = 1 - SS Parche by a Sally 180 miles NE of Camranh Bay - 28/33/0. Back to Darwin.

As you can see the number of air contacts has risen again. This is primarily due to the ever shrinking Japanese Empire funneling my submarines into the South China Sea and around Okinawa.

Faber launched some G4M's escorted by Tonys and Jacks from Batavia to strike at my Kuching invasion forces. The last of the TF's (carrying supply) was attacked SW of Pontianak. The small Corsair CAP was swept aside and 2 x DE and an AK took a torpedo. Only one of the DE's may sink.

No major problem. All ships will be at Pontianak tomorrow and a P38J FG has arrived to provide additional CAP.

Koepang's B29's will target Batavia tomorrow.

Mossie FB's and SB2C's struck out at CL Sendai and 3 x DD 120 miles SE of Singapore. In the morning they managed to put 3 bombs into Sendai put CAP was overhead in the afternoon preventing any attacks and causing me 6 plane losses.

The Iwo Jima invasion forces are 1/2 way between San Francisco and PH.

CV Franklin (currnetly repairing at PH) may not be available for this operation since she's still at 20 SYS damage.

Saigon's Resources were hit heavily today and no enemy CAP was present. 252 out of 300 production was damaged.

Usual bombardments by me NE of Moulmein:

After a days rest at Pontianak embarkation of an RCT and Aus Tk Bn will commence tomorrow to strengthen my Kuching invasion forces.

As a precursor Havoc's hit Kuching for the 1st time today. They hit the port to attack a known enemy ship. It turned out to be AK Nittai Maru which took 2 bombs during this attack.

The arrival of veteran P38J's allowed my Mossie FB's to conduct a longer ranged naval attack - against shipping at Brunei. It was a failure though as 2 small 3 x Mossie flights failed to attack any shipping as the even number of P38J's (15-20) tangled with enemy Tojos - score 6-5 to me.

No Japanese attacks by sea or air today.

The B29 raid on Hamamatsu met with heavy resistance in the form of 46 x Jack. Of the 181 x B29's that flew only 131 dropped their bombs damaging 75 of the 600 HI production. It all helps. Air losses were 17 x B29 for 8 x Jack.

The Tarawa invasion fleets will leave San Francisco tomorrow. The escorting CVE's will remain in PH for a few more days to receive their 9/44 upgrade.

2 large fuel convoys are forming at San Francisco today to hauk 720,000 tonnes of fuel to Tarawa and PH. I hardly ever mention convoys but I can assure you as the Allies in 1944 you need every single AK you can get and I have convoys running all over the place delivering 100,000 of tonnes of fuel and supply.

Things are starting to move again in SRA.

All of the first wave forces are onboard and the Kuching invasion force will leave Pontianak tomorrow. I've attached a screenshot of the current situation.

An additional Corsair Squadron has flown into Pontianak.

I have quite a decent cover up there now. At Singkawang I have 24 x F4U and 72 x P47D. At Pontianak I have 60 x F4U and 72 x P38J. Of course, if needed, I could provide another 400 Corsair/P38/Spitfire within 3 days if needed.

BB Resolution and co. will escort the first wave to Kuching.

There was no enemy interference today but the raid on Batavia by B29's met heavy resistance:

SS Sea Devil had an active first day of her short war. She damaged the troop laden AP Ryoyo Maru with a torpedo in the morning 240 miles north of Jesselton and received 1 x DC near miss by the escorts. In the afternoon she probably sank the troop laden AP Santos Maru with 2 torpedoes before being sunk by APD APD-35 received 5 x DC's. R.I.P.

A hectic last day of the month as the invasion fleets set off for Kuching. By the end of the day they had sailed 180 of the 420 miles towards Kuching and no enemy interference had been received.

In support of this movement I had ordered Rangoon's B29's to bomb Singapore's airfields. It was a risky move since it was clear there would be enemy fighters on CAP:

All in all not a bad raid. We both lost 35 planes during the day. The key thing is it keeps Singapore a little surpressed whilst my fleet sails to Kuching. Even though my men are weary they have been ordered to bomb again tomorrow.

A few light enemy surface ships were spotted at Kuching and SE of Singapore. DD Wakatake was heavily damaged by a 500lb bomb dropped by a Helldiver SE of Singapore.

For now Corsairs and P47D's are flying CAP over my invasion forces. From tomorrow P38J's will also join the fray.

A very active day in the submarine war. The sheer number of submariens I have on patrol in the limited area of South China Sea and around Okinawa means air and sea ASW forces are bound to come across something. Once Iwo Jima and the rest of Borneo are taken I may withdraw most of my submarines since I can see them achieving little for a higher loss.

SS Spearfish was attacked by 4 x DD 180 miles ESE of Hong Kong suffering 4 x DC near miss - 8/0/0.

SS Skipjack hit DD Wakatake with dud torpedoes at Kuching (Wakatake's luck ran out later when she was hit by a Helldiver bomb).

SS Caiman was attacked by a 4 ship ASW TF 240 miles SE of Shanghai in the morning. She suffered 4 x DC near miss. In the atfernoon she bravely sank MSW W.15 with a torpedo before being sunk herself with 10 x DC

SS S-46 was heavily damaged by 4 x PC 360 miles east of Aomori. 2 x DC hit, 7 x DC near miss - 46/68/0. Back to Attu Island.

SS Ling evaded 6 x DD 120 miles SE of Shanghai.

SS Trespasser finished a successful patrol by heavily damaging DD Shirayuki with a torpedo 180 miles SE of Singapore.

SS Tautog was attacked by 4 x PC 120 miles SE of Hong Kong suffering 7 x DC near miss - 14/0/0.

SS Sawfish evaded convoy escorts 60 miles NW of Jolo in the morning. Later in the day she sank AK Kano Maru with 3 torpedoes before slipping away under the sea.

SS Barbero sank 60 miles NE of Darwin (cruel irony). That's 3 submarines lost in 2 days

It includes the tracking of 18 submarines over the past 6 months along with an update of the number of ships sunk by subs etc. Conclusively proves submarines do gain experience.

unfortunatly, you are the dumbass here. I've said that i belive that YOUR (allied) subs gains exp... but i didn't saw that MY (Japanese) subs get any exp point even after sinking the enemy ship.....

Sadly, i can not back my claims with statistics because Japs subs in 1944 are only good for sitting down in the ports
