Hi Capt. - well nowadays it's not as risky as you may think. The only real Japanese air precense begins in PI and from Hong Kong east wards towards the HI. Of course Faber can fly in air from time to time to bases in Indo China but everywhere else (including Indo China) can be smacked at will be me. I just really wanted to get that b*stard BC....the audacity of it sneaking into Kuching and surviving a load of torpedoes fired at it

More heavy bombing in Siam and Malaya. Chinese forces have reached Kuantan on the east coast of Malaya. It's empty and will fall tomorrow.

SRA -

A surprise B29 raid from Koepang against Tacloban, Leyte failed with the loss of 30 x B29 to Frank, George and Tony fighters.

An enemy convoy felt the wrath of Jesselton today. The enemy convoy was moving westwards down the east coast of Borneo towards Tarakan. The following empoty ships were sunk:

Siam/Malaya -

Kuantan was taken by the Chinese today and Khota Bharu is next (where the Japanese NLF retreated to).

Johore expanded to level 5 airfields. 95,000 tonnes of supply are 7-10 days away. When they arrive it will be time to march towards Singapore.

SRA -

British CV's are 1-2 days away from Kuching. It will soon be time for a few paradrops east of Jesselton.............

British BB's/US CVE's will arrive at Darwin tomorrow after repairs in South Australia.

An enemy AK convoy was attacked at Biak today. Allied LBA flew from Bulla and Babo. AK Hisashima Maru took 3 bomb hit and at least 4 more AK's were spotted. We hope to continue the attacks tomorrow.

Bonin's were hit by Mitchells.....welcome to the war boys This will become a milk run from now on.

After a few days rest it's time for Saipan's B29's to get into the action again. Target is Osaka HI again. P51D's will hopefully sweep before them.

The men on Iwo Jima will attack the enemy again tomorrow after a few days of shelling.

A routine day in this theatre with Allied bombing providing the action for the day.

All damaged ships at Kuching were formed up into a TF and will leave today escorted by RN CV's back to Indian ports.......CV Intrepid and Bennington are amongst them

Enemy AK's are attacked near Biak by Allied LBA. AK's Muko Maru and Hisashima Maru are sunk by Havocs and SB2C's.

P51D's claimed 106 enemy planes destroyed today for the loss of 9 friendlies

227 B29's then pounded enemy HI plants damaging 260 out of 720...............

They will rest tomorrow.

Allied forces are 7 miles away from closing the enemy escape route from the Raheang-Bangkok rail line.

Every day 100's of Allied of planes bomb the Japanese positions in Siam.

Vital supplies are 7 days away from Johore Bharu...then we move on Singapore.

Usual stuff in this theatre with Allied air raids and support/supplies/fuel 2 days from Jesselton and British BB's/US CVE's moving NW past Timor.

A Japanese AK was sunk by Havoc's near Biak today.

A fairly routine day for Siam/Malaya/SRA with heavy Allied bombing, damaged ships moving past Singapore towards India and my engineers and support personnel (along with supply and fuel) reaching Jesselton before ultimately invading islands further east.

AK Gisho Maru sunk by Havocs near Biak.

Massive obliteration of Matsuyama today as 249 B29's landed 445 manpower hits causing 19320 fires and now causing a couple of points damage to manpower, HI and resource productuion....this test will end now. I will rest my B29/P51D's (a further P51D FG has flown into Iwo Jima) tomorrow before they begin a Fire bombing campaign against Gumma..............

The end is nearing for the Japanese on Iwo Jima:

You've said that before -- but this is the first time you've gotten the number of defending troops below 20,000. Maybe it's time for the Banzai charge?

On a different subject, it seems to me that conventional escorted bombing was doing quite as well as fire-bombing: no manpower hits but considerably more damage to HI. Well, in Dec. '44 I can't blame you for wanting to speed up the game.

I'm going for some of the smaller islands to the west of Luzon but mainland Luzon and Mindanao seem like a quagmire to me. As such where else to go with SRA forces? Forces in Siam/Malaya will land in Indochina so that is that option out.

Status: offline 		Sorry Speedy, I should have paid more attention.

Regarding Hainan - it is a good target for an invasion, particularly if lightly held.  It provides good VP, provides a solid base to support landing in Indochina/China to interdict overland supply to penguins in Bangkok/Saigon area, and supports Formosa landing which is an even richer VP territory.  Combined with ownership of Palawan and Mindoro, it closes off sea access to the South China sea.

In general terms landing on Chinese coast or Luzon may not appear to be attractive except for 2 possible factors.
1.  Capture of a Chinese port to allow for the landing of ship borne supply to Nationalist Chinese bases.
2.  Manila itself is worth a lot of VP and is the most direct route to the Clark airfields.
Thus depending on circumstances it may be worthwhile to launch limited offensives to establish a presence in these locations.

The Japanese are definitely retreating in IndoChina. Bangkok is now empty and Allied forces have begun to move towards it.

95,000 tonnes of support will be at Johore Bharu within 2 days and then we begin to march on Singapore.

Engineers/support personnel are disembarking at Jesselton.

Enemy PC's were spotted 360 miles NE of Jesselton. Beaufighters and Mitchells attacked puttign 2 bombs into PC Miyake and leaving PC Etorofu heavily damaged with 2 bombs.

SS Moray lightly damaged by Type 4 mine outside Tokyo.

B29's will hit Gumma Manpower tomorrow. Iwo Jima P51D's will support............

A fairly routine day with the Allies advancing on Bangkok now...the Japanese nearing Saigon..........

Supply is flowing ashore at Johore Bharu and the advance on Singapore will begin soon.

RN units/US CVE's nearing Kuching.

Para landings will begin in west PI within 4 days.

B29's and P51D's flew over Gumma today. 26 x Irving were blown to pieces whilst a shed load of bombs were dropped on Gumma by 183 x B29. 4000 fires were caused and a couple of resource/manpower/HI units were damaged. The attacks will continue.

This front is becoming more rapid again now....at least for the time being. Bangkok was taken today.

Allied forces are 2 miles from closing the ring on the Rahaeng 'Japanese' forces.

207,000 tonnes of fuel are leaving Karachi tomorrow for Kuching....will be more fleet activity around here soon.

The map shows the situation fairly well.

US CVE's/RN BB's leaving Kuching for Jesselton tomorrow. They will support Allied incursions west of PI.

Allied mine's finish off PC Etorofo at Manila....muhahahahaha. SS Storm lightly damaged by Japanese mine (10/13/0).

Gumma is hit hard today. 229 x B29 fly and there are now 12000 fires across Gumma. HI damaged by 13, Resources by 7, Mitsubishi engines by 6....will continue tomorrow.

Gumma is hit again and no enemy fighters wre on CAP. A new section of the city was hit causing 13,500 fires in total and damaging 10% of the Frank production (down 30 points). I aim to keep this up for 2-3 more weeks to see what effect it can have. If no good then it's back to precision bombing.

Siam/Malaya -

The Japanese forces left in Siam have been completely cut-off from Japanese territory. At least 130,000 enemy men will die.

Supplies continue to flow ashore at Johore Bharu. The assault on Singapore will begin within 10 days time.

Operation Finch is about to begin. 503rd USA Para Rgt will be air dropped on the empty enemy island of San Jose west of Luzon. Following on from their heels will be 71 RAAF Aviation Rgt (flying in in 2 days time). Once they are in Corsairs will fly in. Then SeeBees will move by sea covered by LBA from Jesselton and San Jose and also by US CVE/RN BB's..........depending on how things go a similar operation may be launched against another 1-2 enemy islands in the area.

Bad weather prevented B29's flying against Gumma today. P51D's flew sweeps though and claimed 22 enemy fighters (Randy/Frank) for the loss of 3 friendlies.

Well the Allies continue to advance in IndoChina and Chinse Cavalrymen took Pisanoluke today...see screenshot attahced. Allied Armour is moving NE from Bangkok to link up with them. The rest of the force continues SE chasing the distant Japanese (a blimming set of ghost untis is holding me at every hex!)

503rd Para lands successfully at San Jose today. Enemy AA (what AA mind you since no troops were present) shot down 4 x Commando. Tomorrow 71st Aviation, 503rd Para and supplies will continue to be airlifted. P51D's are flying LRCAP from Jesselton. Let's see how it goes. If the enemy interferes the new move men and material by sea. If not we continue by air..........

SS I-180 was spotted by PBM's 240 WNW of Kuching yesterday. Allied DE's heavily damaged her in an ASW attack today.

Bad weather again prevents the B29's from lauching and all fires are gone in Gumma. Im beginning to lean towards the camp of strat bombings but we continue trying for now.............

Hi Capt. - not much chance right now. I don't have the necessary RN CV/BB support at Kuching/Jesselton to be able to move that far north.

In about 2 weeks time i'll have the main RN battle fleets in the region but at present RN CV's are protecting CV Intrepid and Bennington back to Columbo for repairs.

It's an interesting move by Faber. It will depend on how far back he retreatsd. If he stays around Saigon/Camranh Bay it increases my likelihood of an invasion of Haiphong and on Hainan.

If he pulls back to Haiphong it makes Hainan even more interesting since it will allow me to gain even better air supremacy over the frontline.

Need to see now how far Faber moves back.

The Japanese continue to retreat into IndoChina. Allied elements are nearing Bien Hoa.

Allied forces are continuing to prepare at Johore Bharu for the attack against Singapore.

Strange. I think Fasber has experienced the same Kamikazi glitch that PzB has. 77 x Zeke/George Kami's into the groudn at San Jose! Patrolling Mustangs also downed 6 enemy fighters for the loss of 1 friendly.

More transport flew into Allied San Jose throughout the day landing vital support troops and supplies......1 more day time and the runway will be active and Corsairs will land.........

A 3 day update since i'm busy at the moment and things are progressing on a routine level.

Siam/Malaya -

Allied forces have begun their march on Japanese held Singapore.

Allied Armour forces have taken Phnom Penn, Kratie and are 120 miles away from Saigon. The Japanese continue to retreat towards the Hanoi/Haiphong area.

SRA -

More men and material is flown into San Jose every day.

The RN have begun to move towards Kuching.

BB Howe and King George V are the head of a BB TF and an RN CV TF is moving past Malaya towards Kuching. I npreparation for their arrival I decided to test Faber's reaction in PI. I sailed 4 TF's or AK's/BB's and CVE's (heavily capped with 100's of Mustangs) east from Jesselton to look like I was going for reinforcement of San Jose or to invade somewhere else. It worked in that recon/SignInt/radio intercepts showed me that planes and ships left Hong Kong (maybe SC/CV TF?) and 100's of enemy aircraft flew onto Luzon.

Interesting. With the arrival of my RN CV and modern BB's we could have a good scrap here with the aid of Corsairs and 100's of Mustangs

For now my decoy force heads back to Jesselton.

Daily bombing of Gumma continues but the Japanese have tried to contest the airspace over the past 2 days losing 150 planes to my 30 Mustangs. I now believe my testing is almost done with Manpower bombing. Simply put it's not worth it. You need to have INCREASING numbers of bombers every day to maintain and increase past 20000 fires at Gumma. Instead with daily bombing you get fewer bombers due to attrition. As such the fires at Gumma are down to 8000 now. Sure some damage has ben done to industry but I could have easily achieved this and probably more by Strategic Bombing....after 2 days rest this is what I will do again throughout Japan.

The attack on Singapore began on 19th December 1944. It's going to be a tough fight but I know in time I will wear him down with LBA and through bombardments:

Rangoon's B29'swill start to bomb Singapore for a bit to help my men on the ground.

The trapped Japanese forces in Siam now 100's of miles from friendly lines will be attacked tomorrow. We expect to mop up the rabble fairly quickly....fairly quickly in Japanese terms. This will bring another 2300 AV in to play in Indo China.

Talking of Indo China Allied forces are now just 60 miles from Saigon..............

Fairly quiet in this area as we await RN forces in Borneo before moving into the PI. Every day more men and supply are flown into San Jose by Commando's.

Today a foolish attack by Japanese LBA on San Jose cost them 45 planes for the loss of 3 P51D's.

A further day of rest for Allies at Iwo Jima and Saipan. Another B29 BG is on it's way from America. To give you an idea of the damage caused on Gumma through city bombing i've attached a screenshot.

Soldiers of 53rd USA RCT are boarding transports at Kwajalein. Their target the Solomans. Other than Rabaul and 3 units at PM this area seems deserted of Japanese forces. A further 1000AV is at Kwajalein if resistance is encountered. A CVE TF will sail to provide air support. First target is Tulagi.

I know I don't mention many ship reinforcements anymore. It's simply because the force dispositions are so overwhelming in favour of the Allies and i'm receiving about 6-8 ships a day still! Still lots of goodies coming in. For example BB Missouri arrives in 3 days time............I have a whole fleet sitting at San Fran with nothing to do - 3 x CV, 6 x CVE, 3 x BB, 2 x CL, 1 x CLAA, 26 x DD for example............

The really worrisome thing is that there was no sign of the fort level being reduced. Do you have engineer units present?
