Das Mod or DAS Mod? The only thing you have to figure out now is what DAS stands for... Depot, Alby and SPWAW?

The Actor is holding his rifle in his "palm up" position.
This is a typical and steady position for target shooting.
The left elbow is usually supported against the shooters left side.
Unless he was coached in this manner, I would suggest this actor is an experienced powder and ball rifleman.
And Holding your Face away from the Powder Flash as Crockett is doing makes good sense to me??
altho he does not appear to be aiming, but rather looking over his rifle at what is happening.
As for the Shotgun, Travis was a Cavalry officer and Thats the firearm that was being considered for the Texan cavalry.
And it is an Historical fact that Travis did indeed have and own a Shotgun at the Alamo.
Whether it could fire solid Round shot I do not know.

If he loaded like I do, against deer with my 1864 exposed hammer coach gun its one slug and one triple-0 buckshot{ = 13-16 .36 cal. balls } nasty stuff at under 30 yards!! RT Takes longer to stoke the buckshot thou cause I use 2 #6 felt gaschecks to sandwich the payload over the powder.
