I've been working on an amphibious assault scenario, and have noticed that you can't load a loaded vehicle on to a landing craft. Here's what I wanted to do: 1. load a 37mm AT gun on to a truck 2. load the truck (now carrying the AT gun) on to a landing craft Here's what I was forced to do: 1. load the truck on to the landing craft 2. load the gun on to the landing craft separately What's the problem? From a human player's standpoint? Nothing really. From the AI's standpoint? Everything. The way it stands now, the AI is left with an artillery piece that can't be moved from wherever the landing craft beaches itself. In real life, a vehicle would have been combat loaded, ready to roll as soon as the ramp dropped. This is either a design flaw or bug, and should be corrected. I'm not sure how the AI handles prime movers in general, but from my observations an AI-controlled unit carrying another debarks that unit when fired upon/damaged/immobilized/reaches its objective. Is this the case? ------------------ alea iacta est sooperduk@hotmail.com [This message has been edited by Elvis (edited 07-12-2000).]

Since the beginning of time (SP1) you've not been able to load a loaded unit into a barge/landing craft. The AIP has difficulity with transport and towed guns in all scenarios. I don't think the AIP knows how to move them. I think the developers just left this out as being too hard to do. ------------------ An old soldier but not yet a faded one. OK, maybe just a bit faded.

As SPWaW is an "improvement" on SP1, shouldn't this flaw be addressed? That sounds like a copout...with all of the AI improvements that have been made, this shouldn't be completely out of the realm of feasibility... ------------------ alea iacta est sooperduk@hotmail.com [This message has been edited by Elvis (edited 07-12-2000).]

Guns are towed, not loaded as far as the game is concerned, so when you land you have to land the truck and gun and then connect them. The AI doesn't know how to make an Amphibious Landing so it is not a good idea to make a scenario where the AI is supposed to land. We don't have the man-hours to completely revamp the AI the way we would like...maybe someday in a game of our own :-)
