Nice to see that my new Napalm filled mines are working.

Bloody air battle at Lunga. I got the best of it in the air 231:61 but got plastered on the ground. Final losses were:

292 Tonys
119 B-24s
48 B-17s
44 LB-30s
28 Liberator IVs

Shame that this strike did not break up like mine did against PM.

Nothing is safe within 10 hexes (plus or minus a few). I hope your training facilities in China are up to replacing these losses along with increaing your production of fighters....and AA units!!

AA units are performing historically and shooting down 2-3% of each raid. They seem to work best against F-5A recon flights.

Factories are builling over 1000 fighter per month as opposed to Kenny's 150 or so bombers. I will gladly trade 1:1.

As to training pilots, I don't bother since they are only going to die anyway. The good ones will survive and the other are just a revolving door of cannon fodder. I am a Darwinist at heart.

And by the way: Anything with 14 hexes is toast. Thus my Sir Robin-San defenive strategy.

I will put up a tougher fight at my next line of defense.

looks like Tom is starting to pull back to a 2nd defensive line, due to the punishment of 4E bombers. Here's where i believe his second defensive line to look like....

Wow!

Only recently have I begun to get interested in a PBEM, and chose this thread at random to read. I read the whole thing today (I have no interest in NFL football and have been in hiding from my friends since yesterday's game.) You guys have surprised me at the possibilities of PBEM and have scared me also. Due to a full schedule I have only played the AI from time to time. Obviously some serious thought needs to go into a PBEM.
Also, it took some time to cipher out all the acronyms ya'll use. 4E took the longest I am ashamed to admit...

I was sorry to reach the end of the thread because it was so funny at times. Anyway, there is a neophyte out here hanging on your every post.

Trog: I saw that you mentioned you had a life a ways back. In Bremerton?!?!?! What do you do, hang out in the bars by the shipyard trolling for Bremalos and Portapotamuses? Hell man, catch the ferry, Pioneer Square has better fishing...

PBEM is a lot more fun, challenging, and frustrating. The key is to get an opponant that you can get along with. Things will come up mid game that will require some kind of compromise. If one or both of you is just bent on winning there will be tension and the game will not be fun.

A PBEM opponant will do things that the AI never thought of. There is a whole new dimesion to the game against a human. Personally I think that the psychological game is the best part. Setting traps, deception operations, and trying to figure out what the other guy is doing is a whole lot more fun than just whomping on AI.

Check out the opponants wanted section and I am sure you can find someone to play. It takes a lot more time than playing the AI but makes the game so much more ejoyable.

If you want a really long AAR to read check out Pzb' vs Wobbly "Clash of Steel". It is still the longest one to date. I have picked up some ideas from there.

Kenny left his laptop at home and went to visit his in-laws. No turns until he gets home on Saturday.

72 hours without a turn.

I am going into withdrawl.

Really, I am fine...I can stop any time...I'm not addicted.

Is is Saturday yet?

Ahhh. Another skimmer puke heard from. I'm from St. Louis, pal. I'm merely visiting whilst I work in the shipyard until I retire. Then its back to St. Louis.

And while I do hang in a few local bars my wife at home is 5' tall and weighs 90lbs. Unlike you squids, I don't (and never did) bang women who wear bigger underwear than I do. What is it with you sailors and fat chicks, anyway?

The "fishing" in Seattle is little better. This whole area if full of "big underwear" women. You can have it, boyo.

well i'm back to the game, after a 6 day hiatus. Actually felt kinda good not having to worry about turns for a while. Was able to enjoy watching the Mets game, and actually got some studying done for once.

Anyways turn was sent to Tom....just gotta await the results. We will of course be upgrading to v1.802.

Of interest....at least 2 japanese CV's were spotted north of Truk, by one of my subs. Would've been nice if the sub had launched an attack...but alas, my sub captains are still a little nervous. Won't be until mid 1943 that the effects of "Allied Sub Doctrine ON" will be gone.

Lastly, i've finally decided what to do with my ever increasing number of Infantry Divisions, Fighters, Bombers, Warships, Landing craft. Now i just gotta organize it all into an unstoppable offensive for the next 2 years....should be a logistical nightmare

She knew she would be a wargame widow when she married me. It was fully disclosed during the interveiw process.

My good looks and other "talents" are why she keeps me around.

Three subs and 4 barges sunk by maruading B-24s. Looks like I can't do anything safely with 14 hexes of a B-24 base. My Bettys finally got the guts to launch an attack and sank 2 APDs and a PG. Just reminding Kenny that the CVs will have to escort any landing force that moves up the coast.

Kenny has advised me that if the Mets lose tonight he will be looking for something to bomb in retaliation. As it is 4:2 cardinals in the 8th I suspect one of my bases is going to get nuked in the near future.
