It would be great to have my pop in the game, Richard E. Rupp USAAF He was still in training at Greenville Army Air Field, Greenville Mississippi. He's my avatar, just passed away last June...

Thanks

I would be happy to add him in

do you know what unit he was with or would of been assigned to ?

sorry to hear of his passing

I've got a picture of my pop in a Vultee BT-13 http://www.bt-13.org/index.html I've no idea what he would have transitioned to after that though. From that website I gather that Greenville AAF was part of Eastern Flying Training Command. No idea on what class number he was in.

Richard E. Rupp, or Dick Rupp since it's what friends would have known him as.

Thanks very much and thanks for the condolences

Henzau I know how you feel.I lost my dad 2 years ago he was also in the U.S.A.A.F.
It was a devastating loss.
Have you put your dad in the National WWII registry yet?
A nice site to go to is http://www.armyairforces.com
They have an extensive forum there. You might find out more about your father from this site possibly.

Looks like the typical movements for RAF day fighter Sqn. This is one of the reasons I would like the ~10 point morale reduction for moving a unit removed because as shown above RAF fighter (and LW units) regularly moved around without any significant reduction in operational efficiency. If you moved a unit around like above (particularly 1943) in the game it's morale would be permenantly wrecked.

Thanks Hard Sarge. Been a number of years since I was a butter bar......

I remember the first words of advice from the NCO who inproccessed me into the Army as a brand new 2LT:
1. Don't speed on post
2. Don't write bad checks
3. Don't cruise the commissary for dates

so, here is your chance, if you would like to have your name added to the game, let me know

Not my name, but F/Lt N. D. Webb, 61 Sqn, who was my great-uncle's pilot. Stayed at the controls long enough to get all but one of the crew out when they were shot down by a Ju88 after attacking Schweinfurt. The same crew also bombed Peenemunde on the first game turn, so it's historically correct as well.

You know, it's HARD to say how well these old Talonsoft games will sell....I can't think of any other old wargames that some company bought the rights to, enhanced, and then re-released...

Matrix is sailing into unknown waters here I reckon....I hope they have a solid marketing plan....gotta get the word out!!!
Too bad they're not going retail though....

I sincerely hope this "gamble" pays off for Matrix in a big way!

So keep crankin' out that code, and have a Faygo™ for me, eh?

Sorry, I should have been clearer - he survived, but Sgt. Johnny Brown, their flight engineer, was killed. The rest of the crew were in no doubt that Webb was the last out, and had made their own escapes possible.

And in the interests of accuracy, I should correct myself to say they went down on the inbound leg of their 29th op.

Cheers for that, HS.

Good I am glad to hear he made it out

one thing I notice, that I do not like about alot of my reseach, is it makes me sad to read about all of these that did not make it

I really hate reading about the 10-12-20 missions that this or that guy flew, and then see that he was shot down and killed on Aug 3rd 1943

one side of my head pops up with, oh, too bad, can't put him in, it just don't seem fair

I notice the CO for the 303rd BG (in the game), he had flown 25 missions and was pulled from duty, was reassigned to 8th bomber command, while in England he crashed while flying a P-40 and was killed, before the start of the game, but some one seen he was part of the 303rd and had him added in

now I got to figure out if I should pull him

Hi there,
could you add Daniel Borrmann, future German Ace, how about to JG52 with Bubi Hartmann, the best? Or use my other surname Daniel Mendoza, as a Spanish Volunteer "Blaues Geschwader"!
I also got a deceased godfather called Raymond A. Frick who flew a B-24 out of Italy and spent a year in prison camp after being shot down near the Adriatic coast.
More stuff, got a huge list of German pilot names for a test scenario for WitP, many generic out of BOB and BTR, but also many taken from Osprey´s Aircraft of the Aces, if you need a file, send me a message to dmenbor@gmail.com
Pauke, pauke!!!

I have a request:

Jack Lay

Would prefer USAAF, 8th AF, B-17s

My dad was a "flying seargent". After surviving Pearl Harbor he moved to the 8th and was in Jimmy Stewarts Squadron. From what I understand he never "officially" finished pilot training because of a frozen caborator on his solo (ruling of the board of inquiry after he landed in a corn filed in CA), and a problem with his appendex in HI before next solo, then the war starting. He flew "mechanical failure" verification flights on round trips to Scotland and did one "milk run" against the french coast, but did not "officially" fly in combat. Thats the story anyway.
