Macunaima,

that's a great list, but we have 2 problems.

We are limited to 20 characters for the name, so many of those names just won't fit.

We are also limited to the ascii character set, so the advanced characters won't work either.

It's a pain, I know, but Waynno and I have a lot of other stuff to work on before we get to this sort of level.

I can help you with some more (historical) names for the Dutch, both in their own Squadrons (322 RAF, 320 RAF, 321 RAF and 860 FAA).

"Van" is mostly written as "van" as in "Arnold van Delft" (the 'van' meaning he is originally from the city of Delft). The same with "der". It is "Hans van der Kop".

Not so odd that most Dutch pilots were not in Dutch squadrons, as they had more opportunity for action in British or mixed RAF squadrons and certainly more opportunity for promotion (only one position for squadron CO in the single Dutch fighter squadron.....).

I'll try and see if I can whistle up some more names.

Bas

Ps: thanks for our names in 322 and 320 Sq!

Thank you, I thought I was right, but wanted to be sure, as it is not how we spell our names

also thanks for the list

Thank you, great list
Question, I see in places there is just a small e before the last name, is this correct or should that be de ?

overall , not to bad, only 2 names on my list do not match up with your list (one looks to be a Yank pilot flying with them)

Thanks, I was able to correct some spelling and correct the ranks, beside the rest of the names I did not have :)

okay first look

had to cut and chop some of the names, but we are better, which also remember due to how the game works, the pilots will show up as US, and don't pay attention to the numbers, those are slot numbers for the pilots and squadrons

1370 Nero Moura 1530 1st GAvCA American

My paternal grandfather, Basil J. Garrett, was a sergeant in the US Army and fought in Europe. He crossed the Rhine in charge of a vehicle that, by the picture I saw, I think was a self-propelled artillery gun, but I might be wrong. My uncle told me that my grandfather once welded a trailer hitch to the vehicle so they could hail a trailer and extra ammo around.

Thank you, great list

Glad to be of help. The modified version with sorth names seems great.

quote:

Question, I see in places there is just a small e before the last name, is this correct or should that be de ?

Yeah, it's correct. The small e have the meaning of "and"... for instance, the name "John Richardson Cordeiro e Silva" would mean "John Richardson Cordeiro and Silva".

Thank you for clearing that up, I have seen the de and da before, but was not sure about the e, which, I figured you knew what you were writing, so the ones that I could, I added it that way

some of the names, I had to shorted, due to the space I am allowed, but I got most in as best I could

that is gonna be one Strong Squadron

which the way I see it, it would be a reinforced squadron to start with, and with the number of pilots it has, I am thinking of makeing it a FG instead, which in the long run, fits with how they were doing things at the time

Would love to get in, if its not too late.

David Pickert, prefer 381st BG (B-17) though would be happy with any Fort BG.

Not myself, particularly...but my childhood neighbor was one of the crazies that used to slalom Grasshoppers between telephone poles in between artillery spotting missions. I always though he deserved a promotion to a combat unit...so now's his chance. Jack Rombough's his name, may he rest in peace. Clearly he'd prefer fighters to bombers...but I'll leave that up to you.

Another name if there is room:

Captain Everett Craft, USAAAF, P-51 pilot in the 8th AF, your choice of squadron.

In reality, Everett Craft was my high school English teacher, an Army medic who was at Omaha Beach on D-Day. His favorite fighter was the P-51.
