I do love the civil war area, but am not so sure if the game would have the same attraction as the napoleonic area.

In the civil war, you have two factions, imagine playing Crown of Glory only with two countries. I loved the many countries in the napol area, but again, not so sure how it would be if there was only two countries, south and north.

Agreed,

Having one of two choices to play out a campaign maybe the most logical choice, but as ahauschild stated this may hurt the replay ability .

How about having the option the choose state by state along with the option to manage the entire north or south.

When will we see a dedicated forum for the game?

Maybe we should just take over the CL-COI one since that game has been officially cancelled yet the forum lingers on unused.

And just for the record, that was a joke. I am betting a FoF forum will show up before too much longer - likely right about the time they are ready to begin publicizing the game and building some pre-launch excitement.

As soon as the official press release goes out (most likely next week) we'll set up a new forum for Forge of Freedom.

Regards,

- Erik

When you complete the FoF map and CoG2, does that mean that you could make a CoG3 of the French & Indian War as well as the American Revolution and War of 1812 ???

Perhaps the option for British or French intervention could be incorporated? Triggered by CSA battlefield successes and diplomatic efforts? That would be quite the fantasy scenario... and just think... Blue and Grey and British Scarlet! That should satisfy the lovers of colorful uniforms

Move over HPS... there's a new game franchise in town!

Seriously, this engine could generate quite a few different installments for various time periods and locales. What about a COG WWI variant? Look at the way Paradox exploited their Europa Universalis franchise.

On second thought... maybe the world doesn't need 10 different versions of COG after all

The ACW sounds great though. I can never get enough Civil War games!

I have always enjoyed Tiller's Civil War games. Heck, I even bought his 1812 and 1776 games and enjoyed them. (Especially PBEM) That said, I am extremely excited about a grand scale game the likes of COG taking the reigns and running with the Civil war and earlier American wars. Not having played COG yet due to not being totally excited about the European backdrop, I have been following COG for a bit and have been very intrigued.

So, here's to new challenges! Bring It On! PLEASE!

Extend the map southward to include all of Mexico...then you can include actual historic French intervention on the continent.

Extend the map south and west and you can add the 1848 Mexican-American War too.

I'm all for a ACW game but I would also like to see something in a period rarely covered, the 30 Years War.

Note resounding silence of the dev team on this... (wink)

Oddly enough; just last night while researching Louis Obragon (Mexican general / president, nemesis of Pancho Villa) I downloaded a map of Mexico that would almost perfectly match into the Forge of Freedom map. Same time period, same style, almost same projection.
