You mean apart from the bed rolls that have been pasted onto the picture?

Bed rolls??? I will have you know some Allosaurus gave his all to make those "rolls".

Haha...think of the sound effects. "Shake, rattle and roll" is invented a little earlier in this parallel universe.

******Joint Working Group on Silly or Simply Annoying Operation Names, October 15, 1942, Washington********

Adm. King: <scanning list> Good Lord! These are terrible. I think we have quite a good list of bad names here.

Gen. Marshall: I agree, Admiral. My hope is we will purge the Armed Forces of the United States of pointless or saccharine operation names. I think the Working Group has made quite a start. <also looks at list> For example, "Manhattan" good, "Poughkeepsie" bad. <both men chuckle>

Adm. King: Yes, "Prometheus" good, "Vestal Virgin" bad. <both men chuckle again. Adm. King turns to his secretary and absent-mindedly sets down his coffee cup on the document> Sargeant, see to it this list is distributed to all commands.

See above list of names.

General Vandergraft to his staff: "Gentlemen today we start planning Operation Amuck. Now get to it and remember I want you to run Amuck as efficiently as you can. Have the preliminary plans for running Amuck on my desk tomorrow morning. That is all."

Ad Hoc Editor's Note: The staff wishes to remind readers that the abusive use of the hyphen to make an adverb out of two other parts of speech as in "Adm. King turns to his secretary and absent-mindedly sets down his coffee.." is not condoned by authorities on the matter. We are also quite sure that "mindedly" is not a proper English wor... <POOF>

It looks to me like the "enlargement" showing Mike Dukakis has the head twisted somewhat to the left of the tank commander's in the "original" (go back a page).

**********10th Air Force HQ, Dacca, 18:40, October 27, 1942*********

G2 Guy: Sir, we have indications of new enemy air acitivity at both Mandalay and Lashio.

Gen. Chennault: Hmmm. I suspect they will try the Tony sweep over the battle area again. They could be transports but I doubt it.

G2 Guy: Should we call off TacAir for tomorrow, Sir?

Gen. Chennault: Absolutely not. The fate of 2nd Division hangs in the balance. I want maximal effort again. It is shame the 23rd is in China but that can't be helped. The boys of the 24th will have to carry the water. Notify 224 Group.

At 08:30 on October 28, 30 P-40's meet 47 Tonys over the Mandalay/Myitkyina rail line. It is an even fight, but enough Tonys remain to threaten the streams of RAF bombers following behind. Hundreds of sorties are flown on both sides, Allied bombers from Imphal and Ledo and Myitkyina stream forward to bomb the 3 Japanese divisions and armored columns. Japanese bombers from Rangoon strike 2nd Division. This looks like the big show.

Ah - this one - as first seen back on page 11

http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/fb.asp?m=1246422

According to Yossarian - her name was Anne - with an "e"... he fell in love with her back on page 12.

EDIT: Her real name is revealed as Dagmar "Saltpeter" Wynter, as revealed on page 14 when Milo is arrested for espionage.

http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/fb.asp?m=1284601

i'm still betting she moved to Idaho, and her later granddaugher is even now stalking our AAR...

3 full Jap divisions, 2 regts of heavy artillery and four armoured regts assault the 2nd Inf on the rail line. This time, the absence of 7th Armoured is felt acutely. Even so, enemy losses are heavy. Nearly 500 Jap tanks pursue the retreating 2nd Inf Northward. Looks like the monsoonal Allied onteroffensive is over.

After the heavy air losses of the 28th, Chennault has forgotten to take his Ritalin again and orders a "maximum effort" on the Mandalay airfield, the likely base for the Tonys surging into Northern Burma. There is no CAP over Mandalay on the 28th, a situation which is unlikely to be repeated on the 29th. The hard-pressed boys of the 24th FG will simply have to sweep the area first.

20 P-40's ecounter over 60 Tonys They perform well. downing 21 to the loss of 13 P-40's but the remaining Tonys beat up the B-25's and 17's coming in from Dacca at 10,000 ft. One does wonder how many Tonys he has left. Despite the American bomber losses, the airfield is hit pretty hard (8 Tonys are destroyed on the ground) and is evacuated the next morning. Don't tell anyone but I think the 10th Air Force is going to need a rest.

Confirmed Japanese sub losses through end of October, 1942. The air boys are doing their fair share.

Look particulary at RO66 lost off of Aukland to a 250 lb bomb Could it be? Did the Professor's ad hoc "Retarded Bomb" do the job?
