Hipper: Somewhere in the dim past on one of these forums the comment was made about the Hurri also being plumbed for a drop tank, which supposedly gave them a big increase in range. Do you have any data supporting that?

sorry for missing your comment

See the RHS thread for some deatails however All Huricane II's had wings plumbed for external tanks However in South east asia drop tanks (45 gallon) made an appearance in January 1943 and were used to escort a raid from Imphal to Mandallay ( 4 hexes on the standard map) ... source The forgtten air force Hendry Probert For hurricanes in general Frances maison The hawker hurricane is superb.
IRL its a bit more complex than as Fixed ferry tanks were in use in 1941 ... however they were vere very untactical and not to be used in combat (BS vol 1)

cheers Hipper

I just dowloaded v 1.8.04 patch and wondered if the stock database and artwork were included in the official patch or if I need to download these separately?

After reading some of the posts, I'm a little confused on what was exactly included in the official patch versus outside mods.

I'd love the new artwork that I'm seeing at some of these sites. But I don't know if these have already been included.

Thanks

The official downloads only deal with the stock art. You need to downloads seperately

great thanks.

So there is no conflict then between Andrew's latest map and scenarios with the latest official patch 1.8.0.4?

I've said this time and time again, but the PBY Catalina range is too short.  The maximum range, for this 'generic' Catalina which represents a mix of PBY-5/5A/6As should be 2500 miles.  PBYs regularly flew from the West Coast to Pearl Harbor, which is not possible with the current data settings.

The CHS variant should have corrected this too...

PBY's can fly from S.F. to PH...but not the other W.C cities

Stock Scenario 2 IJN OOB error

The Shokaku and Zuikaku arrive in the Scenario around the 1st of Feb. IRL they arrived in drydock in Japan about that time and did not participate in the DEI campaign at all.

Also CV Kaga promptly struck a coral head upon arriving at Palau and was reduced to a max speed of 18 kts for the duration of the campaign. Departed for drydock in Japan on 15 March 42.

There are a lot of planes which have skewed ranges. Try the DC3 or C 47 from the west coast to Pearl..I was told giving greater ranges to some planes would be abused by the players.
Being somewhat of a plane nut for maybe 50 years, I have altered a few settings in that wonderful editor for some of my planes.
I will never post them publicly due to the number of folks who only come here to either "troll" or justify their beliefs, (even after I give the warning this is for my "personal pleasure"..)
I may post my changes in the forum later, the individual gamer can either choose to do likewise, or make his own alterations..

Thnaks guys..it wasn't working yesterday...Now..how do I know if I downloaded and installed CHS correctly? Anything tell you what you're playing?  I don't think I installed it correctly..I am running Vista so i couldn't auto- install. But I get no selction screen as to which maps I want to use...will keep playing. I did a separate install so it's no big deal.

When you start it up, you should see the map you downloaded.

You select the scenario you are interested (i.e. 158) and load it... it you don't see the correct map, try running the Modselect utility (if it works)... if you don't see your scenario to select, you didn't succeed in a proper load.

Here's what's wrong...I just started a game, but many of the bases are in different places than there supposed to be on the map.  I assume it's using something stock and something CHS.  What did I do wrong and how can I fix it?  This has to have happened to someone else before!! lol

Run Modselect utility - you have the old map still.

Pry,

Would it be possible to know if this will be completed by the next patch. And if yes, will it be included in it.

Be well,
