Throughout that thread Herman, you failed to answer the accusation that the situation was contrived, you also failed to answer the accusation of plagiarism, that you termed "cloning". I don't think resurrecting that thread as an example of your integrity works well.

There we go again.......

I thought that the moderation of this forum made clear that the accusations of plagiarism would not be accept anymore on this forum. So do us a favour: shut up talking about plagiarism. If moderator is consequent, you should be banned for a period from this forum as well....just as moderation did with Ragnar Emsoy.

Kind of hard for the moderator to ban people when he participates in the acts of conduct that he says he will not put up with.

"Heh...you'd be suprised. There's one character that claims there's 300 bugs in 3.7.1. He's not in the beta team either. "

So he's allowed to take shots and not be banned for rude behavior.

It would be nice if Matrix would actually bring in an impartial moderator.

It would be nice is the so-called Harpoon 'community' didn't need one.

There was no need for me to make any accusation with regard to widespread copying and plagiarism Frans. Herman if you note referred to that particular thread to show how helpful he is to the community. It is a good example .

I merely needed to point out that neither you, nor he ever answered the question. Asking for me to be banned now seems to be your only refuge.

I doubt there would be much hostility towards the plagiarised database had it actually been an original work

The question was answered quite resoundingly here:

Before getting involved with any database projects, it might be worth checking which projects are legitimate and which ones are bursting with plagarized work and stolen content...

Look I warned everyone about making comments against fellow gamers here. The community for Harpoon and Matrix do not need to read about your on going feud with some other members of the community. If you have an issue with anyone here take it somewhere else. I will not allow this to go on here. Your childish name calling is doing nothing but turning off new Harpoon gamers. Emsoy I am banning you until September 1 for not taking my warning the first time. I warned everyone here not to post any such comments here. I even let the first few comments go by without taking any action. But it would seem that you did not listen to my warning.

I have read through both of those threads Herman, and at no point did you answer the question at all.
Instead you fall back on hoping that people that point out the issue will be banned. At no point did I bring up the subject, I merely pointed out that using such a thread  hardly helps your credibility.

Had you not done so, I would have left matters to rest. To my mind the issue has been closed.

Pfft..who cares what Herman says. Just some creepy weirdo who types #@$% into forums all day trying to make his life more interesting.

Bottom line is he can't criticize the new build without seeing if first and sound like he knows what he's talking about. So just let him bark until the build shows. He might have a point then.

The answer seems clear to everyone but you. By all means, please continue to challenge David Heath's authority and, hopefully, he will intervene, once again, to clarify the situation for you.

Who would be challenging anybody's authority? What are you talking about? Weeeird.

Anyways wait for the newest version. You can have a go at it all you want after its released. Doing it now when you have no access to it is annoyingly stupid.

We'll have to wait for the next public release since the currently available Beta Patch 3.7.1 crashes every Multi-Player session and thereby renders the game totally unplayable.

Verification available on Xtreme-Gamer.

3.7.1 was a beta man. The idea is to to test it for faults. That was done and now we have a fixed version in the works. What is hard to understand about that?

Use 3.7.0 until the next version is released.

This another wet paper bag you can't get out of or what?

Who knows what has or has not been done. That is PURE SPECULATION. The release will be examined when it is released.

Until then, all anyone can do is deal with is PURE FACT. And that is:

The currently available Beta Patch 3.7.1 crashes every Multi-Player session and thereby renders the game totally unplayable.

Verification available on Xtreme-Gamer.

Irrelevant.

My copy of Beta Patch 3.7.1 is quite capable of crashing each and every Multi-Player session thereby rendering the game totally unplayable.

Verification available on Xtreme-Gamer.

Just add a second installation.

One installation for 3.7.0 (which is marginally functional) and another installation for 3.7.1 (the infamous Crash Installation) which will crash each and every Multi-Player session thus rendering the game totally unplayable.

Verification available on Xtreme-Gamer.

The above isn't aimed at Herman or Tony, it's aimed at the thread in general. At first I thought it was about the Beta going public or something. No of course not. We're not happy with sinking each other's ships or the AI's or that there's violence all over the world, we have to get primitive in here. Go and play CS and Head Shot noobs if H3 isn't enough for you.

I would have hoped that in what I was lead to believe a more enlightened age than say 845, 1066,1106 or a year close to those, but no it's the same place with more technology. Defaming people by questioning their genetic makeup is uncalled for and not welcomed by me or I believe the majority of this COMMUNITY.

After seeing some of the posts here I have to be thankful that we can't SEE if we are too fat/skinny/wrong skin colour/religion/language/long hair/ and any thing else prejudicial creatures hold dear to their hearts. Nazi Germany? You're standing in it!

Thanks I'll go away and try to enjoy my life again. Somebody let me know when we're back in 2006.

Could not have said it better myself. This thread has lost all value a long time ago, and more than that, it most likely scares potential customers away from purchasing this great game (patches, bugs and what not aside). It´s a shame really......

If any of my remarks caused offence I apologise. I don't want to see this go any further. What started as an attempt to inform the members of this forum of what was happening with the progress of what I believe will be a great update for the game we all love, has turned into an insult trading session.

If we were able to pool our resources and work co-operatively the patch would have already been released. There are a few people devoting all their free time and lots of their not so free time to make this happen. I can personally vouch for the work that's being done on the game as I type this.

Let's just keep our frustrations in check and wait a little longer. If you're all sick of Herman's posts about bugs, ask him to post up the files and some of you guys test it out. If it real let someone from the beta team know. Dale, Jeff and myself are more than happy to receive confirmed bugs and get something done about them.

Again sorry for any offence given in my earlier posts.

Darren Buckley

I don't know if this contribution will be helpful, though it's intended to be. When the original computer version of Harpoon came out (1989?), I read about it in a magazine which was, at that time, based in the UK and called Strategy Plus. I found the articles so fascinating that I ordered it and then the Battlesets, as they emerged, as imports from the US, fthrough a brilliant London company which has, sadly, recently folded. I loved Harpoon, and played it on an Amiga. It wasn't exactly fast on an Amiga 500. Well, the world moved on, and Harpoon 2 arrived, and then the world got very fed up as a result. It had quite a few "issues" and, as I recall, was clocked as an heroic and over-ambitious project which was inexplicably slow-running and basically didn't cut it. I lost track then for years, although I realized recently that people had secretly been sorting it out, while I wasn't looking! I no longer play Harpoon in either version, but I was really surprised that, almost from the moment the current forum opened, eloads of people seemed to be complaining, despite the fact that Harpoon ANW was clearly bucket-loads better than the original release of Harpoon 2. I certainly remember a time when Harpoon 2 was deemed to be so awful that it had effectively "killed off" Harpoon on the computer. People have put in so much work to make sure that did not happen, and produce what seems to be a fine product. They also seem to be trying to improve it and debug it on a continuous basis. Harpoon is a very complex, very detailed, very comprehensive, and very thorough program, which has been completely rescued. It would be really nice to see the team given some space to sort things, even when that means a glitch from time to time. It isn't Pac-Man. Personally I'm amazed at the job they've done with such a complicated program, and building on original code.

Well; that's my sanctimonious post for the week, but if you're out there, harpoon-fixers, I think you came up trumps.
