being an old tanker, I'd like to see more pics of tanks in action or in the field, with the crews going about their work.
Similiar to rune's pic in post 704, page 24 or sven's a few posts up.
See the mud in the tracks, or the grass in the sprokets? I always loved that smell.
They seem more interesting then tanks sitting on display or in the motorpark.

That monster is a Char 2c tank. Otherwise known as a FCM2C. Almost 70 tons, and really cool as a concept! Just like the Brit "Land Battleship" Independent tank, and the Russian T-35.

In reality their only useful purpose was as a subject of German propaganda photos

That Soviet tank with all the rounded-off edges is an example of what happens when the Russians listen to German engineers! The T-22 "Grote" tank ... !

The Soviets were capable of some silly designs on their own, though... What with their various land battleships and the KV-2...

Is it a Romanian R-1 light tank? They were basically a export version Czech CKD AH-IV tank with less armour, a smaller engine, and the commander cupola removed.

Yes. Right on the money. Will have to find some harder specimens

I do love the looks of the T-22! A concept well ahead of it's times. I woud guess that Flash Gordon himself would have felt at home crewing that vehicle!

Apparently Edward Grote, the designer of that tank, left Soviet Russia after the vehicle was cancelled in 1933. He then went to Renault in France and worked on some tank designs for them. When war broke out in Europe, he left for America and was said to have lent his particular expertise in cast turret design in the development of the Lee and Sherman tanks.

I do not consider the KV-2 a "silly" design. It was not intended as a tank v tank AFV nor as a breakthrough-deep penetration vehicle. It was intended as an assault gun/howitzer with an enclosed space for the gun crew. Similar in purpose to the German "StuIG-33B" except the KV-2 has a turret.

It was also an idea the soviets returned to with the (I)SU 152.

Next one. Not quite a WW2 tank, although the design was an offshot of lessons drawn from WW2. Exact nomenclature and country of use.

I believe it's a M41 DK-1, the Danish modification of the US M41 Walker Bulldog, which was itself evolved from the WWII Chaffee light tank.

With those side skirts, it almost looks like a baby Leopard I

And they were both so top-heavy that they had a tendency to fall over like SUV's... At least the later Soviet designs were smarter: proper heavy assault guns without huge turrets...

It is a mobile piece of fortress artillery with a 37mm Pom Pom. The make is danish, late 19th early 20th century. The picture is taken at Tøjhusmuseet (Army Munitions Depot), Slotsholmen Copenhagen

Correct, it's 19th century to be precise. The question was specifically aimed at Danes, as I expected at least one of you to give the correct answer, but you could have left the others some time to try guessing

Well, I didn´t give the exact model/nomenclature of the "thing" in question, only it´s function . So there is still room for guesswork.

I thought it looked like an Edwardian Period prototype Dalek. All it needs is a conical tin hat.

I live is so wrong I sholud die, not only should I die but torment should be my reality...110 floors or so I should be trapped and my only means of escape is to jump...jump to death...I should call dignity and jump...as I plummet I bounce off the side of the building...3.7 to 9.5 seconds is all I have and I bounce or not against the building the rictus of my scream is eternal but it only last's a few seconds...Today I see the towers burn...we worked there, wow! Chambers street was a big railroad yard wow...

That vehicle was built in New Zealand. Its some kind of tractor armored with corregated steel and armed with multipul MG's.

Hope this is right.?
