Guys

I really mean it..... DROP IT

I had not correctly Banned those I said I did.  Well now that I am back I have.

Terminus - Banned 7 days
UndercoverNotChickenSalad - Banned 30 days

I do not want to see not even one more post about this or any other she said he said post.  I really don't banned people but you all got me in the mood to do so everyone better understand they are on a short rope.

Just an update...

Doggie's been banned.

Now our polite friend (and supposedly banned) Terminus can go have that circle jerk in the WitP forums he's been yearning for.

I'm still not sure who gets to be the pivot man when there's only two but I'm guessing Ursa and Term will figure it out.  Rock, paper, scissors perhaps?

Well im kind of talking for lisa here,And she says that she still cannot log in on either one of her accounts.
Otherwise she would be here defending herself.
But i doubt she will ever come back here permanently after the way she was treated.
So well done on that front.

frgpugs

First let me say I am sorry for the way your wife was treated here. It was a misunderstanding as you can read from above. Since she didn't reply I figured she had had enough and just left. This is NOT what Matrix is about but sometimes things like can happen. Please feel free to private message me and I will fix here account or better still just have her make a new account and let me know what it is.

David

Thankyou iam rather dissapointed at the welcome she recieved since all she did was introduce herself.
I will be pm'ing you as i think it is unfair that she be banned.
Thanks for your time David.

I was banned or something for a while.  I got the "this account has been banned" error message went I went to my PM inbox.  I am obviously not banned now.  It could just be a software glitch. or an error on my part.  I really don't know what happened.  I was on line and the forum locked me out in the when I responded to a pop up about a private message..  After a half hour or so I was able to sign back in.

I have had a cordial relationship with Mister Heath for several years and I do not believe he would just boot me without an explanation.

I think it's important to review a few facts about what happened, since there seems to be so much false information floating around.

I don't know where the idea started that I'm partisan, but some of the Steakhouse folks now seem to take this as given and it seems to be based on something other than reality. I think people that have been on this forum for a long time know that it's not true. If I've shown any preference for a particular user, it's been subconscious. I'm still human and folks I know and who have been here for a while may tend to get some benefit of the doubt vs. those I don't know.

Also, always apply Occam's Razor - I am NOT a full-time mod. We have NO full-time mods. I occasionally check in on threads, don't always have time to read every page or post in detail and so I sometimes make mistakes. That's the way it works, there's nothing productive in getting worked up about it and concocting conspiracy theories. Doggie, your comments in particular about me were simply wrong and baseless.

We rarely ever ban people. Anyone who's been here for a while knows that too, so being upset that someone has not been banned is a pretty pointless sport. Far more often, we take it to PMs and issue warnings. For the vast majority of people, that suffices. If warnings are ignored, even our patience has limits and then those rare bans happen.

Dave did the bans wrong earlier, which shows you how often we have to do them. We set them right now, so those that were supposed to be banned are in fact banned.

When it comes to the thread where Lisa introduced herself, I completely agree with those that say it was an extremely poor welcome she received. I was dismayed at the time and posted as much. I'm still very disappointed in some of the users here who responded to her, but I'm glad that others extended a warm welcome amidst the idiocy. Yes, primarily that was due to Terminus' comments. However, several other folks jumped on board as well. As I explained to her at the time via PM, the timing was incredibly bad. Marky had been causing some problems in the WITP forum and was high on our attention list before she showed up. Terminus assumed she was a Marky-alt, posted as much, others joined in and there we went.

On top of that, some PMs were sent to other mods stating that she was an alt account. While I was trying to calm people down and refute the alt claim and confirming her identity, the other mods (Dave and Alex) deleted the thread and banned that account based on those PMs. That only made the confusion worse. I spoke with the other mods, the account was then unbanned. In the meantime, she'd made a second account. I posted to her to explain what had happened and she posted a second hello thread. This then once again devolved into a flame-fest, which ended with some comments towards another user that were vile enough that the thread was asked to be deleted and was.

I'm really disappointed in how much extra time we've had to spend baby-sitting the general discussion forum instead of working on our games, largely because a bunch of adults can't figure out how to get along without escalating to personal attacks. You're all gamers, folks. You've got something in common. Keep the politics and other divisive stuff elsewhere. If someone gets a little testy, let it go instead of escalating it, maybe they had a bad day. If someone is repeatedly nasty, let us know.

Allright, that's my vent for today, hope you all had a nice weekend otherwise.

Regards,

- Erik

One additional note - I personally checked both of Lisa's accounts earlier today. Neither is banned nor has been since that original brief mistaken ban on the first day she showed up. I have no idea why she can't login and post, but send a PM to Dave and we can reset her password if she's forgotten it.

@Erik

People "Jump On Board" regarding certain circumstances because there's a group of really annoying members who seem to be able to snipe from the mosque.

They seem to delight in attacking members who have far more history here than they do.

Much of the border clashing would be eliminated if those perpetrators would be dealt with swiftly when they do flare.

As snide and insulting as they can be, they certainly aren't willing to go over to the Steakhouse for the rough stuff(which was the original intention). They seem to prefer to remain here and ambush at will.

I don't spend much time here at all because of it, and I've been here since early 2004.

Look Smead I gave you and everyone else here the rules on the way this is to be handled. Instead of replying back to the post that may or may not be an issue drop a PM to myself or Erik. We do not and can not track every post in this forum but we DO want to stop anyone who is trying to go over the line.

Its a simple solution but everyone must jump in and fight to the death. Only after its well into 10, 20 or more posts to we get a PM saying oh how can we let this go on. 99.999% of the users here are adults or at least are the age of adults and should be able to handle this. I or one of my Mods will answer to the person we feel step over the line we will handle it directly.

If everyone did this there really would be no need for myself, Erik or any other Mods here need to read every post every day to make sure things are the way they should be. Let me also make one other major point I or my Mods alone will decide how the offending person will be handled. If people are not happy with my handling of things they can go..... well you get the idea I am sure.

David

It's stuff like this that bring us. As you can see us MCSH morons have been around a hell of a lot longer than you guys. This is not your board, it's Matrix board, David Heath's in particular. Stop with the insults and we'll stop coming over here in mass to smack you around.

Guys

Let me make this clear this is not going to be a smack down area for anyone.  I hate to simple start banning people but I will if it needs to come to that.  Now I made my voice more then heard lets drop this and go back to gaming.

David
