I didn't know until recently that WITP modeled Spanish-Armada era fire ships:

It's a burning and/or sunk fleet! Sigint told me, correctly, that there was only 1 IJ base force defending Gasmata. So I decided to take it on the cheap with essentially no pre-invasion bombing.

I did take it on the first assault but that d@mn base force scored a ton of hits against my shipping. Lesson learned...

How in the heck did you get over 100% fire?  That's one heck of a conflagration.

Looks like that while it is impossible to start a fire storm in a city, it is possible to do it on a ship!

It's an Allied ship so it will probably survive anyway.

Are fireships as useless in WITP as they are in my Napoleonic naval wargames?

I wouldn't like to be a member of the 3 NZ Cav Bde on AP Koolama - 100% fire has got to be bad for one's health. That ship is anything but 'Kool'

That column is not a percentage like the others. It is an actual count of how many fires are currently burning on the ship.

Your flaw was not taking a PT boat along. That one PT boat would of absorbed 85 shell hits

if so (and i am not convinced it isn't a glitch) - it is a clear departure from predecessor games where fires could actually INCREASE - to 100. This is the first time i've seen or heard about a ship with fires >100, which makes me suspect a glitch.

Has anyone alse ever seen fires >100 on a ship (no, cities do NOT count... )

Don't worry. The fires on SC-705 and SC-704 will probably all go out next turn.........when the ships sink.

the fire range has always been 0-49

Don't think it was changed. Looks like a glitch of some sort.

Big one then, 'cause besides the two ships with fire in the thousands he's got at least three other ships with fire levels over 49.

You should change that to "he had". Deep ocean water put those fires out quickly...

Probably is a glitch, but one I found amusing. I'm glad I wasn't aboard one of those subchasers.

Dang - happened again. I think I'm learning I need to spend some more time suppressing the CD guns of anywhere I invade.

This reminds me of the line from Kids in the Hall - someone was talking to a pyromaniac and asked them how they liked their job - and got the reply "Very nice... everyone is so flammable!!"

Well, you know they used fire ships up through the Napoleonic era. Maybe you are getting some of those

Yea, if the Combined Fleet decides to come visit it'd be nice to see a combat report:

Night Time Surface Combat
Japanese Ships
BB Yamato, LCM hits 1, on fire, heavy damage
Allied Ships
LCM No. 493

Fires can grow beyond 99, the display is supposed to be capped at 99, or 49 or whatever. It's a glitch/bug/oopsie.
