LOL...don't get me started. It seems long ago that i bought Civ4 at release to play on my <1year old Alienware. It wouldn't work...crashes, glitches. It turned out one culprit was my, at the time, next generation Nvidia card. Their "patches" never worked...in the pile it went. A year or so later i got a $4900 gaming laptop so my Son could have my Alienware to play his "tight" and "cool" games, then it worked(Civ4)...with a 512mg Nvidia card and 2GB DDR RAM it had better, right? So, in essence, you could say i bought a new PC for Civ4...the one i'm typing on with it's awesome color changing fan lights et al.

Well that makes sense, however, my PC is a Dell XPS-600 with a 3.6 gig CPU, 2 gigs RAM, GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB RAM video card, and bunches more. I can't imagine me having too small a machine?! Civ4 did it on my 2nd PC too, same things. That PC is a 2.2 gig CPU, 2 gig RAM, GeForce 5700 card.

These are the last Dells I am ever buying. I am fed up with support from India and proprietary crud.

Gosh, I am sorry to anyone reading my posts if you are getting depressed! This has been a bitch-fest. My wife cornered me right after I uninstalled Civ4 and she said "When are you going to play a game that doesn't make you crabby?"

On the plus side at least this "support" forum has a usefull purpose.
Support, hmmph....

Note:your rig should be perfect, but it's a draw of the cards these days. I'm using the PC that "worked"(Dell XPS)...we'll see. I won't be buying another one

I have a ~3 year old Dell with an ATI 128 MB video card. Nothing fancy, nothing customized. just like it came from Dell except for an additional 512 MB ram.. Civ 4 ran perfect on it. It's my second Dell and if I need an new computer it'll probably be a Dell.

I used to say that about Dell. I referred everyone to them. I have bought two of their PC's and sold several for them through referral. What really made me mad was when I bought this XPS-600 with SLI, I upgraded my video this month and it would not run the NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS in SLI when they recommended it. Things like the power supply built into the bottom of the chassis keeps me from upgrading it so I can run more. Proprietary crap. All of it.

MarkShot buys from Falcon and he said that they use standard parts so you can upgrade. They also have USA support! What a new concept!

You got me laughing along with my wife!!! I read it aloud to her and we are watery eyed. Thanks! I needed that.

I used phone company support two months ago and it was still local but loco. The locals were idiots and it took weeks to accomplish a two days task. At least I could understand them.

I don't understand why Civ4 did what it did. I just got fed up with the same old year of troubles. I should have no problem with my PC. I run games like Company Of Heroes with everything on Ultra AND High settings. Even AntiAlias at 16Q. Go figure?!

Cachink..."You gotta ask yourself Apu, do you feel lucky?" Ha ha ha LOL! I am still laughing over that one!

I can sure relate to you on this digital download X%$#MXX&&##@@@ blankity blank scam. Check out my thread from a few months ago:

This reminds me, on this electronic registration thing with ¨strategic command¨ I had to go to some seperate game site other than Battlefronts, can`t remember the name. You had to register with their site, of course it had pop ups and advertisements on it. I had to do that just to ¨unlock¨ the game the first time when I bought and owned the game.

Of course a year and a half later when I want to reinstall ¨Strategic Command¨ I have to go back to that site. Can`t remember the name I registered under or password. Didn´t want to even be a ¨member¨ in the first place. ¨Member¨ also known as flood your computer and e-mail with their advertisements and 25 other companies.

So after going through re-registering and all this again...didn´t work anyways. No way...disk went to the garbage and never again will I buy a game with that electronic registration **** on it. Pirates can break any security feature they can put on a game in no time anyways. These features only hurt the paying customer.

I can say with Matrix all the games I have bought have been through electronic download and have never had a problem with it. I prefer to buy my games like this actually...from Matrix only though.

I download my games & get the serial number. Then I burn 2 copies and make a case for each with the serial number and title on it. One goes away for safe keeping in a drawer. The second copy I use and sits on my desk.

I do pretty much the same thing. I make a couple copies, one on a group DVD and another on a seperate CD if it will fit. I put the serial number on them and also a saved copy of the register email that Matrix sent is in the folder. The way Matrix does digital download is the best. However, patches, continuous bugs, and me are not too happy right now. This For Liberty! ordeal has put me over the edge.

There are also some other gripes along this line but I won't bring them up. No use.

Here it is 4:36 PST and not one soul has even responded to a broken patch, Hussar obviously bailed out and will not be releasing a new game, at least with Matrix. I will officially close this file and unless it's a well known developer i won't buy just cause Matrix carries it.

Amazing huh?! It's hard for me to believe. It's like the Matrix team got beamed up by Scotty or something. Especially after a 30% sale, I would expect the team to monitor the support forum for new buyers having issues.

I'm not buying anything, Matrix or otherwise for some time. A lot has hit the fan in the last month as far as bugs, patches, and games go. I've lost my patience.

Where is Guns Of August located? Nevermind, I see it is at Matrix. I'm scared too. It looks like a combination of Battles Of Normandy and Flashpoint Germany. Ugly.

You should get your expansion tomorrow!! Cool!

Well today is Tuesday and still no word from Hussar.

Maybe you guys are right.

Maybe this 30% sale was just to squeeze out a few more dollars before the Hussar guys called it quits.

It`s obvious the 1.8 patch is broken with everyone saying the same thing...¨Division by Zero¨

I`m playing with 1.75 without a problem so I know it`s not my system. It`s definately the patch.

Very odd...you announce a sale with a new patch and do not monitor the forums for feedback.

With this type of support I think they might as well give up working on new games because they won`t have any buyers.

Well Ike, my game buying habits have changed immensely in the last week. I have been watching this forum since the first complaint and I have been, well, shocked-amazed-bewildered-mad?! This isn't the Matrix I have been buying from since about 5-6 years ago.

Good picture by the way.

Great, thanks HussarGames. I would ask for your name but judging from the credits in ¨For Liberty¨ it`s doubtfull I would even be able to pronounce it.

edit-always correcting my english mistakes.
