Can we add some good classical or sound scores to that?

Well said Robert, I don't disagree on anything you said. I guess a lot of this generation doesn't understand 50's thru the 70's music. To me Rap is poetry put to a beat, but there is so much anger and hate to it and it can be disturbing.
It's time to listen to some 60's British Invasion...

Have you heard Danny Kaye's "D-O-D-G-E-R-S Song"?

So to the medal winning positions. No real contest for No.1 and so that leaves sorting out the minor podium placings. At No.3 its the title track from their 2013 album Reflektor. If you like this song, I strongly advise you to listen to it live. Everything is here you would expect to hear - a great intro, a song that continually moves direction, a bit of David Bowie vocal, a great piano sound, some French chat, what sounds like a dentist's drill (of course) and a big finale.

No.3 Reflektor (Album: Reflektor 2013)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7E0fVfectDo

Entre la nuit, la nuit et l'aurore.
Entre les royaumes, des vivants et des morts.
If this is heaven
I don't know what it's for
If I can't find you there
I don't care

The runner up spot goes to a toon that is a little different to 'normal' Arcade Fire tracks. It is a wonderfully dark, hypnotic record that starts low, draws you in and then keeps you there in a murky underworld of goodness knows what. The softer side of Win Butler's vocals are brought out in parts but there is no bright spot or light relief here. The song remains relentlessly and deliciously dark throughout. It is just one awesome track.

No.2 Porno (Album: Reflektor 2013)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=icreHRutjCQ

Take the makeup off your eyes
I've got to see you, hear your sacred sighs
Before the break up, comes the silence
I'm talking to you. You say you're over it,
But I know

I thought I knew you. You thought you knew me
But now that you do, it's not so easy now
That I know

You can cry; I won't go. You can scream; I won't go
Every man that you know would have run at the word go
Little boys with their porno, oh, I know they hurt you so
They don't know what we know. Never know what we know

And all your makeup, just take it all off
I've got to find you before the line is lost
I know I hurt you, I won't deny it
When I reach for you, you say, "I'm over it."
But I know

You can cry; I won't go. You can scream; I won't go
Every man that you know would have run at the word go
Little boys with their porno, oh, I know they hurt you so
They don't know what I know. It's so little that we know
But the cup it overflows. Little boys with their porno
This is their world, where can we go?

Makes me feel like something's wrong with me
Makes me feel like something's wrong with me
Can you see me?

You can cry; I won't go. You can scream; I won't go
Little boys with their porno. Little boys with their porno
Makes me feel like something's wrong. It's the only world we know
Yeah, something's wrong. Little boys with their porno

And boys they learn some selfish **** until the girl won't put up with it
On and on and on we go. I just have to know. I'm not over it
I'm not over it

So love is real like a disease.
Come on tell me please,
I'm not over it

And so to the winner - el numero uno. And to think I would never have got into this band if it wasn't for itunes and being able to hear a few seconds of a song. I listened to this and the synth sound had me hooked. But then I listened to the rest of it.... Its a truly religious experience. The drum and guitar opening is straight on the money - then there is that sort of rockabilly sound (in evidence in You Already Know) taking over that combines with guitar to keeps this faced paced song moving along. 48 seconds in and there is that glorious synth sound, just before the vocals become briefly melancholy... but then immediately pick back up again - double bass, guitar synth, drums all working effortlessly taking you joyously to someplace else at a hundred miles an hour. The lyrics are spot on too as the track continues its journey to the end. But oh no - not with an Arcade Fire track. That is for mortal song writers. With about 1 min 40 to go the song starts to move elsewhere - if this song is a religious experience, then the last minute is simply heaven. Butler's voice soars and then the song eases back - a kind of chug boat sound reminiscent of Depeche Mode in Stripped - leads us into the final, glorious minute... From start to end this song assaults your senses and when its over all you want to do is go back for more....

If you only ever listen to one song - please make it this one.

No.1 Ready to Start (Album: The Suburbs 2010)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AUqVusmoAgs

Businessmen drink my blood
Like the kids in art school said they would
And I guess I'll just begin again
You say you, can we still be friends
If I was scared
I would
And if I was bored
You know I would
And if I was yours
Well I'm not
All the kids have always known
That the emperor wears no clothes
But to bow to down to them anyway
Is better than being alone
If I was scared
I would
And if I was bored
You know I would
And if I was yours
But I'm not
Now you're knocking at my door
Saying please come out against tonight
But I would rather be alone
Than pretend I feel alright
If the businessmen drink my blood
Like the kids in art school said they would
Then I guess I'll just begin again
You say you can still be friends
If I was scared
I would
And if I was pure
You know…

Leonard Cohen has passed away. May he rest in peace.

Anyone has a favourite Leonard Cohen song?

Although I've never been a huge on Cohen, I feel saddened by his departure. 2016 is Annus Horribilis for music for sure. As to a favorite song, I really enjoy his last album, and the title song is probably my favorite - You want it darker

Hard to pick a favourite, as it very much depends on my state of mind and inner feelings. So many absolute masterpieces...Dance Me to the End of Love, So long Marianne, Tower of Song, Sisters of Mercy, Boogie Street, the list goes on
...and his last album, wow ! If I Didn't Have Your Love strikes me very deep!

I am in the moment listening to his Live in London 2008 concert, pure bliss.

May he be in peace, in the heaven of his choice, probably surrounded by beautiful female angels

Inspired by Warspite's list, I have a top three songs recorded by artists shortly before their passing. A tad grim perhaps, but great music nontheless.

3. Leonard Cohen - You want it darker
2. Johnny Cash - Hurt
1. David Bowie - Lazarus

Next up on the Officially official list of all time Bond themes, and just missing out on the top 10 we have:

Number 11:

A View To a Kill – Duran Duran (A View To a Kill – 1985)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a3pQDMi4W-g

Hardly their best effort, but a solid enough number to be included here. The film was just awful however....

I see she sang on Don Henley's In the Garden of Allah

Can't post the song though

Nice car
Ah, I love those bavarians
So meticulous
Y'know I remember when things were a lot more fun around here
When good was good and evil was evil
Before things got so fuzzy
I was once a golden boy like you
And I was summoned to the halls of power in the heavenly courts
And I dined with the deities who looked upon me with favor,
For my talents, my creativity
And we sat beneath the palms
In the warm afternoons and drank the wine
With fitzgerald and huxley
And they pawned the biting phrase from the tongues hot with blood
And drained their pins of bitter ink
Vainly reaching for the bottle full of empty edens
Branded especially for the ones who had come with great expectations
To the perfumed halls of Allah, for their time in the sun

So to the Top 10 of the offic... yeah you get the drill by now.

One of only two toons from the sixties to make it.

Number 10

Goldfinger – Shirley Bassey (Goldfinger 1964)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fy_PJODH3p0

This has to be included because it is synonymous with the Bond genre. Bassey - what a voice!

And as Chickenboy says: Goldfinger wah wah waaaaaaaaaaah

5- Diamonds Are Forever - "Diamonds Are Forever" (1971)

Shirley Bassey vocals.
A Innuendo in the lyrics??
Ties with "Live and let Die" for the best Bond movie

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S4sYk6abId8

4 -Goldfinger – "Goldfinger" (1964)

Shirley Bassey vocals
Jimmy Page on GITAR

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fy_PJODH3p0

3 -A View To a Kill – "A View To a Kill" (1985)

Duran Duran
Song way better than the movie. Best beat song in a Bond movie.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a3pQDMi4W-g

2 -Nobody Does It Better - "The Spy Who Loved Me" (1977)

Carly Simon
Best voice in a Bond song and best looking Russian agent XXX

Shirley Bassey hits with a strong force but Carly Simon pulls you in.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wy-c8aAntWA

1 - Live and Let Die - "Live and Let Die" (1973)

written by Paul and Linda McCartney and performed by Paul's band Wings
Most powerful Bond song and one of the best Bond films, ties with "Diamonds Are Forever".

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sn8alMYSu44

The newer Bond songs are....forgettable.
The newer Bond films are too political correct, too serious,.... and CGI centered.

Thank you.... Mish Moneypenny.....

Okay folks, back to the Official Bestest 12 James Bond themes.

Fun Factoid: The lyrics for this song were actually written about me - oh hold on... or was that I'm a W****r?

Number 9

Nobody Does It Better – Carly Simon (The Spy Who Loved Me – 1977)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7__rt0hRm8s

Very mellow....

So next up we go back to the 60's and that sound I associate with Sean Connery as Bond.

Number 8:

You Only Live Twice – Nancy Sinatra (You Only Live Twice – 1967)
