I'm editing together some "artsy" pictures and movies my daughters shoot this summer in Paris (read: "Dad folds and buys you the Lumix of your dreams ----> You come back convinced that shooting a fountain backlighted makes of you Cartier-Bresson"). Anyway, since I don't have artistic pretences, I'm using Pink Floyd's "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" from "Wish You Were Here". And that will be it for the whole week end.

A bit of a celebration of music from film and TV now. Occasionally there are some really fine pieces of music to be found in film scenes. They are often frustratingly too short but this does not detract from their quality. These are in no particular order but first up we have a fine orchestral number:

Not Meant To Be - Shrek 2

A third standout piece appears to be in two parts - the second of which is beautifully melancholy...

Another very sad, choral, piece and perfect for the death scene from which it comes:

Time for a war film. And one of the saddest scenes ever. The music that goes with this is simply beautiful.....
