Once again I return to Richard Clayderman. Pure bliss.

And Ballade pour Adeline is simply as good as it gets.

And I said it before on this thread. And if I live long enough, I will probably say it again.

GAME OF THRONES SPOILER ALERT

Just finished re-watching Game of Thrones from Series 1 Episode 1 all the way through to Episode 6 Series 8.

Along the way I have picked my Top 9 tracks from GoT. I thought about putting them in order but the top 3-4 make it an impossible job. I will therefore simply present them in the order of my playlist:

Light of the Seven: Who can forget the unforgettable climax to series 6, when Cersei immolates all of her enemies stupid enough to stick around in King's Landing (plus those who never had a choice). This piece of music, almost 10 minutes long, is perfect as the tension builds and only Lady Margaery has the wit to realise that those in the Sept of Baelor may be in a teeny, weensy bit of trouble....

GAME OF THRONES SPOILER ALERT

Next up its the superb main title. Never get boring despite having heard it a million times...

Main Title

Ah the opening sequence, sit back, relax and prepare to watch a plethora of murder, sex, war, murder, incest, war, torture, back-stabbing, death, more torture, more murder, sex and more incest.....

SEEEAANNNNN BBBBEEEAANNNNNN!!! being SEEEAAANNNN BBBEEAAANNNNN!!!

GAME OF THRONES SPOILER ALERT

Next up its a wonderful track that accompanied the Mother of Dragons arrival at Dragonstone, having finally moves from Esssssossssss. Lively choral section in this track that really helps move it into the top echelon.

Dragonstone

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vomq7hPTVng

Next time the luvveerrlllyy Missandei takes a boat trip to Dragonstone, it doesn't end well.....

The show replaced the constant scenes of Stannis brooding in the dark... with a place for the MoD to threaten Varys and Tyrion with death if they betray/fail her... nice

Ahh the place where Dany and Jon first met.....

GAME OF THRONES SPOILER ALERT

Next up its a track whose lyrics are perfect for a Game of Thrones

The Rains of Castermere

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tlkgbwmN9mQ

The Battle of BlackWater Bay - careful you'll be giving Cersei ideas.....

The Lannisters ploteth with the Freys (what a fine gentleman that Walder Frey is) .... and its not going to end well for assorted Starks and T'Northerners... aye, 'appen

One of the finest actors of the age - and he doesn't he need to try - Charles Dance was superb as Tywin. But let's be honest, it was the Imp that won the battle and the Lannister/Tyrell combo that claimed the glory

GAME OF THRONES SPOILER ALERT

Next up on the playlist is probably my favourite track. In places melancholy, but then rousing too.

The Last of the Starks

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Izj3IsXi6Gs

At first there were five

...But were whittled down to three (although according to Brann he was no longer a Stark) which isn't bad considering what they went through

Good news! - You've been cast as one of the Stark children - Hurrah!
Bad news - You've been chosen to play Rickon

GAME OF THRONES SPOILER ALERT

The next on the list is probably my least favourite, although that might in part be because it reminds me of the worst episode in the entire series. Having re-watched the whole thing, I don't think series 7 and 8 were anywhere near as bad as people make out (although by the standards of series 1-6 they were definitely not as good). But the very last episode was a real disappointment....

A Song of Ice and Fire

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HppOkD89ntQ

Greyworm: "You are not here to speak!!" and then he lets Tyrion hold centre stage and dictate events....

Apart from Lord Edmure making an arse of himself, this entire scene was pretty embarrassing....

So what was happening here? Was Jon leaving the Night's Watch and heading out to live with the Wildlings? Isn't it supposed to be the Long Winter? What is this all about?

GAME OF THRONES SPOILER ALERT

The next track is another excellent one but could do with being a lot, lot longer.

The Red Woman

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ma6S8_oQkbI

One of the most touching relationships in the entire series was that between the Onion Knight Ser Davos and Princess Shireen....until the Red Woman intervened....

The end of the usurper King Renly.... killed by a shadow in the form of Stannis that Lady Melisandre gave birth too..... like you do

For someone we were repeatedly told was the finest battlefield commander on Westeros, Stannis was a bit of a buffoon wasn't he? Leaving his military logic and humanity behind on the word of Lady Melisandre was never going to work out well for him was it?

GAME OF THRONES SPOILER ALERT

And so to the penultimate toon. This was sung by Podrick before the battle against the nightwalkers. The version here is wonderfully string heavy with a choral ending and is really quite beautifully sad.

Jenny of Oldstones

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-d7J_QVX2U4

This song is sung on the night before the big fight and there is a beautifully touching scene where Ser Jaime knights Lady Brienne - not a dry eye in the house....

The Ser Jaime and Lady Brienne relationship was another winner for the series. Hatred and loathing turned, over time into friendship, respect and a little more... but ultimately Ser Jaime couldn't help what he was and what he felt for his sister.... wonderfully done.

Another classic GoT match was the interplay between Arya and The Hound which started on their 'road trip'. Arya's true feelings for him (which she didn't want to admit) came out in her dealings with the Feceless Men.

GAME OF THRONES SPOILER ALERT

And so to the final track. On its own its not the best piece of music, but with memories of the battle and how it ended, it does enough I think to warrant inclusion.

The Night King

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k1frgt0D_f4

The denouement of the White Walkers. After all the speculation it was Arya that delivered the final blow with this track as the background

Lady Olenna deserves a mention if only for getting rid of Joffrey - another excellent character and wonderful actress. Her scene with the High Sparrow was one of two consumate performers, showing what can be done with a great script.

Too many great characters for all to get a mention so here is a summary
