This song just sticks in my head and resurfaces every so often. Today was one of those days...

Dire Straits - The man's too strong.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=ke5bFsA5rEQ

Vid from a turntable recording. A nice warm sound with the occasional nostalgic 'pop'

Apocalyptica: Path
http://youtube.com/watch?v=OGnAzkh9kn0

Also i would like to recommand:
"Killing Time" by Massacre (Frith, Maher, Laswell).
Its from the early 80´s, but still fresh & challenging.
Vid on YouTube doesn´t give a real impression, so i won´t post the link.
Its not "background music", you have to listen to it, & have to be in the right mood.

Edit:
Oh, one more:
Fugazi: "Waiting Room"
http://youtube.com/watch?v=RTWSSCYUD4E&feature=related
Fugazi: "Shut the door"
http://youtube.com/watch?v=apuLs_ayKRM&feature=related

Edit 2: couldn´t resist:
Johnny Cash: "Hurt"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SmVAWKfJ4Go
