It is very true that Ashes to Ashes was the ultimate surreal-acid sound coming from Bowie and the timing, 1983 was a Twilight Zone era reflecting the London New Romantics phenomenon. Keren's soooo stunning. What Id give for a Temporal Displacement Device right about now;

Well in Norway if you listen to comercial radio, you are lucky to hear Stairway to heaven once a month, if you were to say Black Dog, people would look at you like you fell from the moon.

Slaakman - sorry, just seen this. Ashes to Ashes was iirc 1980 or maybe 81, definitely not as late as 1983.

As for Bananarama, I always preferred Siobhan to Karen, although looking back I'm not sure why .....maybe because she was as mad as a box of spanners . No one fancied Sarah .

Their best song (and by some way)?

Cruel Summer

Yes I'm pretty sure that Scary Monsters (the album that had Ashes to Ashes) was released in '81. The mid to late 80s was a kind of hit and miss for Bowie. Let's Dance was the last of his good albums 'til the mid 90s IMHO.
