Just got home from seeing ABC and the 30th () anniversary of the Lexicon of Love . The full album, in order, with a symphony orchestra to back them up.

What a stonkingly good night!!!

I simply would not have been able to handle the nostalgia of that moment.

As you can imagine - the audience were all of a "certain age"!!

Right, when are the Human League playing next?

Good shout Me r - Fairytale of New York has to be my fave (non-Carol) Christmas toon (even though its not a Christmas song).

Once In Royal David's City wins in the Carol department:

Best Xmas tune ever...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5hVEdE0O5tA

Hey, Mr. Churchill comes over here
to say we're doing splendidly
But it's very cold out here in the snow,
marching to and from the enemy
Oh I say it's tough,I have had enough
Can you stop the cavalry?

I have had to fight, almost every night
down throughout these centuries
That is when I say, oh yes yet again
Can you stop the cavalry?
Mary Bradley waits at home
in the nuclear fall-out zone
Wish I could be dancing now
in the arms of the girl I love

(Chorus)
Dub a dub a dum dum (etc)
Wish I was at home for Christmas

Bang goes another bomb on another town
While Luzar and Jim have tea (see below)
If I get home, live to tell the tale
I'll run for all presidencies
If I get elected I'll stop - I
will stop the cavalry

(Chorus)

Wish I could be dancing now
in the arms of the girl I love
Mary Bradley waits at home
She has been waiting 2 years long
Wish I was at home for Christmas

Contention:
'While Luzar and Jim have tea'
sometimes interpretted as
'While the Czar and Jim have tea'

Oh boy....

I have owned the Peter Gabriel Hit album for many years. Never played it through - just the songs I know and like. What a schmuck. I heard this last night night while playing CTGW and have played it constantly since. Absolutely inspired

What the hell - I am going to plug this again, as I am still playing this practically non-stop. This is one extraordinary record; mixing North African and Aboriginal sounds with a heart-string-tugging string section... WOW!!!
