Hi Coach Z,

This is CHS - right?

Do you get the Liz in this mod and if so, when does she come into production?

For fighters I like the Tojo as the Army fighter and convert most of my Oscars/Nates into these. I'd recommend keeping 1 unit of each fighter type assigned to your older air units that you might use later in the war. I guess if you upgrade all of the Nate units to Oscars, as an example, you can't convert back down to the older frame for Kamikazi attacks...

If you are planning a strategic bombing campaign for Japan, the 4E Liz is the way 2 go IMO. The Liz has range, armor, and a decent GV. Add in good fighter protection and it should be lotsa fun to give back to the allies what they so freely plan to give unto U...

Nope sorry it's Stock!

You prefer the Tojo. Is that b/c of the engine difference over the Tony or 'personal' experience?

Stock - cool! The Tojo comes out earlier than the Tony in the stock version. I like to build a few Tonys but really push the Tojos. And I'd work a strong training program in China with your Oscars/Nates and then upgrade when EXP reaches what U consider 2 B acceptable.

Tojos have the longer legs in stock - right? (sorry - it's been a while since I played stock). I seem to remember using my Tojos for escort because of longer legs and the Tonys for CAP against allied LBs.

In addition to these ships sunk, the following CVs have been damaged and are thought to be out of action.
LEXINGTON took two BETTY/NELL torpedos on May 12th I believe he moved her to Sydney for repairs, b/c I find if doubtful she could have eluded my search if she had moved from the Coral Sea to Pearl.
SARATOGA took two bomb hits and a torpedo hit (VALS & KATES) on May 26th.
ENTERPRISE one bomb hit (VAL/KATE) on May 24th, then two sub launched torpedos on May 28th; last seen limpng in to Anchorage harbor.

1Eyed Jacks - Thanks for the response!
Ki-61 Tonys range in stock 285/380.
Ki-44IIb Tojos range in stock 255/340.

So actually in stock the Tonys have the longer legs.

TURN NOTES: The evacustion of the 7th Infantry Division was almost an overwhelming success. Unfortunately we could not load all the disrupted/damaged squads on that 1st turn and when the American forces attacked they were unable to defend themselves. All-in-all though if I am able to extract those transports w/o further loss and damage to my carriers the mission will still be a complete success. I lost another sub trying to find the Hornet in Kodiak, apparently she’s no longer there. Hopefully Nagumo’s Carriers put enough damage on Dutch Harbor’s air field (probably not) and destroyed or damaged a large # of P-39’s that Floyd will not strike at my TFs as they depart.
The B-17’s from Noumea continue to strike @ Luganville. I may have to delay may thoughts of invading Eastern Australia until I can secure Luganville and see if I can attempt my invasion of New Caledonia. I have an Infantry Division which will begin to disembark in 3 days, with a Construction battalion and Coastal Gun Regiment two days behind. I was hoping to use that Division in my invasion of New Caledonia, but I am sending more APs to Port Moresby, there are enough there to embark the 2nd Infantry Division now, I also have another brigade, large SNLF and Engineer Rgt I could take to reinforce the current invasion force enroute – 1 x Infantry Division (not includiong the 2nd @ Pt.M or the one headed for Luganville), 1 x Field Artillery Rgt, 1 x Engineer Rgt, and 1 x SNLF Battalion.
In Burma two Allied units showed up adjacent to my unit protecting the road connecting Mandaly with Lashio…how interesting.
As usual my BETTY & NELL Sentais/Datais/Chutais, simply spotted several enemy subs and task forces and then choose to relax the rest of the day (arrrrgggghh). My TFs in Wyndham began to unload and then go chased away by an Allied SCTF, apparently mine hadn’t arrived yet. The JUNYO’s planes struck at this TF but failed to register a single hit! Then finally a series of surface combats between my TF which included the heavy cruisers SUZUYA & KUMANO and two destroyers, versus the light cruiser HMS Enterprise and two destroyers. While my cruisers had 8 inch guns they did not take much advantage at long range, hitting the Enterprise and one of the destroyers only once each, before the range closed and the Enterprise sunk the IJN destroyer Arashio, with a single 6 inch salvo which exploded her magazine. As the combat continued both RN destroyers were sunk, the Enterprise heavily damaged. She was also torpedoed by the I-20 at the end of the turn; I was very surprised that she did not sink after that. Both my cruisers are low on ammunition and will retire and the SUZUYA took a decent amount of damage (28/0/11). I am moving TANAKA’s TF in to Wyndham for now; 1 Fast Battleship and 6 Heavy Cruisers.

TURN NOTES: Boy that was one strange turn. Once more my CAP & Escorts in China are apparently on strike, but that hasn’t made my SONIA pilots neglect in their duties! CAP on both sides were ineffective at many times-except for the P-40’s over Calcutta which although outnumbered practically 2:1 gave better then they got from my A6M2 ZERO’s.

I was able to get my NELLS to strike at Wyndham by giving them a secondary mission of Port Attack. While he had his damaged cruisers in port last turn I thought he might use some to try and scare off my transports, when he didn’t I figured it was a good idea to bomb them in port. It proved successful, finishing off two of his Light Cruisers, as well as putting a hit on the Chicago and inflicting heavy damage on the HMAS Australia. I believe that puts all his major ships in the area out of action till he can reinforce them from India or the U.S. fleet on the other side of Australia. One BETTY Unit which was supposed to attack, but didn’t and its morale is surprisingly low (considering its’ lack of involvement over the last few turns). I’m going to see what happens if I withdraw it to Java in a high Supply, low stress environment for a few days.
I almost soiled myself when I saw how few ZERO’s were up on CAP over the JUNYO and then the almost immediate “Air-to-Air Combat done” message flash! But luckily I escaped harm. His bombers made several attacks on my TFs in and around Wyndham, my CAP was overwhelmingly ineffective, but he only managed a few hits. Tomorrow the Imperial Japanese forces in OZ will begin their part of the land war.

My transports up North retreated w/o further incident and we put another decent amount of damage on the Dutch Harbor air field, but with the # of engineers he probably has up there w/ 2 baseforces, 2 RCTs, & a USMC Division, that will probably be ‘clean’ by tomorrow! Funny thing when I struck I forgot to use some of the KATES from the CVE’s I had left them on Naval Strike only (opps!).

My carrier strike against Luganville’s air field didn’t manifest, as my strike planes went out and hit several other small and some meaningful targets of opportunity. A dozen KATES went after 2 PG’s! What a waste. Ten more KATE hit the AO Brazos, and put two torpedos in her. Eight VALS went after the AR Vestal, one quick hit and that was it. At least the Brazos was listed as heavily damaged. The largest # of strike planes struck a group of Allied destroyers and DMS, hiting four (two heavily damaged). In several attacks my strike planes flew w/o escort and Floyd had a few F4F’s flying CAP, but they were as ineffective as my CAP in and around Wyndham. The B-17’s hit Luganville again, and a strange thing happened, in the middle of the air combat most of his bombers and mosty of my ZERO’s (base CAP) turned back and withdrew.
It was a strange turn.

Honestly I am really starting to hate the effectiveness of the Allied ASW-yesh! Floyd has at least 4 ASW TFs chasing all my subs away from Pearl. Unfortunately he's finding and sinki9ng them faster then I can redepoly!

TURN NOTES:
A lot of bad weather in NW OZ may have let TANAKA slip out of Wyndham unnoticed (or at least unstruck). My attack at Wyndham went badly, I’m a little disappointed by that, but I may have TANAKA’s TF come back and bombard there in a few days. I have moved a few more Sentais of Army bombers in to the area and they are now in range to attack Darwin as well. The invasion of Darwin will start in a few days with an Infantry Division and two Tank Regiments. They will soon be followed by another Infantry Division and the 16th Army HQ. I have several Artillery and Engineer units in reserve-if needed. My bombers put another 800kg bomb in to a cruiser in Wyndham harbor, the USS Chicago this time. My air raids at Darwin were uncoordinated and fairly unimpressive.
In the Northern Seas, a Dutch sub put a torpedo into the YAMATO and did a nice amount of damage (18/11/10) which will send her back for some yard work. But the real bummer was that even though I had ordered NAGUMO’s Carriers not to refuel, they refueled each other, drawing fuel from the Carriers and now they will have to detour to refuel before heading south. They had enough fuel to make it to the base I was sending them where more fuel awaited, why they choose to refuel each other and possibly another TF I have no idea (and yes the TF screen did say “Do Not Refuel”).
The SHOKAKU & ZUIKAKU struck at Efate, causing slight damage. But the Allied bombers hit a few of the APs arriving with more troops, and the local CAP proved ineffective. I had planned to raid Noumea w/long range bombers from Shortlands, but they didn’t fly (last turn only 4 F4Fs flew CAP over Noumea). I will refuel my carriers and head back for another attempted raid on Noumea. I have to check out on his TFs moving to the east of the New Hebrides, first. He maybe attempting to move to the east and then invade from that angle-I’ve spotted several AP/AK’s as well as a TF w/several battleships.
In China my fighters flew and did well, but the land war was a big disappointment. Near Homan I chickened out of a Shock Attack (w/pursue) and then when the deliberate attack worked and forced his 4 corps’ to retreat I was aggravated. Near Canton, where last turn I had caused more casualties then I took, the losses this turn were 4:1 against me!
Looks like 3 Brigades are advancing into Burma near the Mandlay/Lashio road junction. I think with a division and strong air support I should be able to hold.

TURN NOTES:
Several more fairly ineffective IJN ASW attacks, but one more IJN submarine sunk.
Looks like TANAKA”s TF paved the way for the invasion of Darwin, his 9.2” guns didn’t respond, I’m hoping they were disabled.  Bad weather grounded a lot of flights in the area. I’m hopping with the weather he hasn’t spotted my Invasion TFs heading for Darwin.
Once again my Port attack against Noumea from Shortlands didn’t fly, that’s three days in a row they CHOOSE not to fly! Minor damage was again done to the air field at Efate. I still see a SC TF with several battleships off to the east of the New Hebrides. I am fairly certain that he must be planning on taking back Luganville.
Troops are moving into position to once more (lol) attempt to conquer Lunga! Initially I have planned a deliberate attack with the forces currently in place to eat some of his supply.  I also have two more Naval Guard Units with more supply on the way. If necessary I will use a Brigade earmarked for Thursday Island (RESERVE) to mop up at Lunga before proceeding to Thursaday Island.

TURN NOTES: Well the invasion of Darwin has begun. Unfortunately I ran into the 5th Australian Infantry division defending in addition to the expecting forces (Oh well). Hopefully with both Infantry division and strong support I’ll be fine. At Wyndham our troops reduced the Fort to level 2, but will have to rest for a day- a SNLF and large Naval Guard Infantry and coming to reinforce there. Waiting to see if any British ships start moving from India to Australia-or perhaps attempt to invade Java? At least my NELLs put another 800kg bomb in to the HMAS Canberra; I want those ships in Wyndham sunk.
Wish my ASW attacks would be decent in shallow/coastal water especially when I have already spotted his subs. Plus, I have several bomber groups with good experience (70’s) on ASW Patrol and they have yet to attack a spotted sub-even those right next to them!
Things are still shaping up in New Caledonia; tempted to switch my invasion from Koumac to La Foa. Keep getting differing reports on if he has troops in Koumac & La Foa. The bum probably got SIGINT that some of my Paratroopers were preparing for Koumac, because a couple of days ago when I attempted to raid Noumea my “people” had spotted a unit in Koumac.

JUNE 14th
RECON Flights from a Glen confirm my guess that he has moved the Lexington to Sydney, although there's not much I can do about that now...but maybe later. A few turns ago the Enterprise was still at Anchorage (RECON met by F4Fs). Hopefully I can do something about that soon too.

TURN NOTES: More troops disembarked at Darwin, but my air raids planned to hit Darwin did not fly again. My Cap was ineffective against his strikes in the Wyndham area with his bombers passing right through w/o any interception. Still no signs of the Royal Navy moving towards Ausralia, I have BETTYs @ Batavia (poised like Cobras) plus assorted search planes in Java looking for them. They have to be on there way!
My attack in Lunga was disappointing, but typical. Task Forces are moving in to place near New Caledonia and the forecast calls for Thunderstorms in the area, so hopefully he won’t spot my two TFs off the Northern tip of New Caledonia. It seems he still only has an Engineer unit at Koumac, and one unknown unit at La Foa. For some unknown reason half the time I try to fly recon flights to Koumac they don’t fly, but the same unit will fly over La Foa. My BETTYS from Luganville missed in both attacks! No Luck) He does have the Lexington’s F4F’s flying out of Noumea, but I’ve never seen more then 10. I haven’t seen his B-17’s for 2 turns now. He is either resting them for an attempt on Luganville, or he has transferred them back to Australia.

Got screwed trying to reconstitute the SORYU’s old Air Group; I didn’t realize that the game would turn them into fragments even if I had rescued (transferred off) the whole squadron [parent unit]. I paid the PP cost to change HQ of a Carrier Trained VAL, KATE, & ZERO unit from the Home Defense Forces. Then I disbanded them in the same hex-base with over 30K supply and 200 Av Suppt. With the SORYU’s Units BI-1, BI-2, BI-3. Well apparently I didn’t notice that after the SORYU had sunk that /1 had been added to all these units, making them fragments. So last turn I had a bunch of damaged and reserved planes which I thought was strange but didn’t bother me, till this turn when I ended up with a lot of pilots and only a few planes. So I’ll just use these guys to rebuild the HIRYU’s air wing and have like 21 KATES with 40 pilots in that air group.

TURN NOTES:
Well that was another disappointing turn for me. Although I had ordered my troops in Wyndham to launch a deliberate attack it seems they choose to wait until all the supply was unloaded from the APs & AKs; hopefully this turn they will prove the delay was wise. The 36th Division and 16th ARMY HQ began unloading at Darwin and tomorrow I think TANAKA will make a return engagement. I still have no sign of the Royal Navy and today was a day of clear weather. The FUSO/ISE class battleships will no longer wait to intercept the potential threat and are moving them to Australia from Soerbaja. It was bad enough I left bounced them between the Aleutians and Singapore early on and then Singapore and Soerbaja recently.  If once more his Task Forces are cruising by me w/o me spotting him I will lose my mind!
In China he made a good move by ‘laying siege’ to Nanning, he can’t take it, but it’ll force my other brigade to fall back (to Nanning). But once more some fighter squadrons are seemingly on strike, since an OSCAR unit based in Hong Kong with the HELEN unit, choose to let the HELENs go out unescorted. I could understand if these guys had low morale or were tired but they have single digit fatigue and their morale is over 80! Oi Vei – I need a hug! (or …….)
Well at least my BETTYs from Luganville hit something, a Destroyer…arrrggghhh didn’t even get heavy damnage! The BETTYs from Shortlands hit an AK and put heavy damage on it but it seems it was empty. He has less then 10,000 men in Noumea and less then 7,500 in Efate; these numbers have been fairly consistent for almost a week. This only confirms my suspicion that he is planning to invade Luganville (possibly even Ndini). There were about 30,000 men in Efate a little more then a week ago and now where can they be?
They’ve got to be loaded on Aps/Aks wating to invade Luganville! But where have his BBs gone? How can they have disappeared from my MAVIS’ & EMILY’s @  Ndini, Naru, etc?

Tomorrow PARATROOPERS will land and hopefully secure Koumac a day before the 16th Infantry Divsion lands and prepares to march down the island and assault Noumea. A squadron of A6M2 Zeros wait rested to tranfer into to Koumac to defend the skies over the "beachhead".

Darn how can an Engineer unit with no real Assault value hold off all these PARATROOPERS?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

TURN NOTES:
Good News, Bad News, strange development kind of turn. Sometimes I really don’t understand this game, TANAKA’s TF moves @ Mission Speed from port 7 hexes last turn, so I figure if I order them to bombard Darwin they’ll move 7 hexes again. In the “Digest” or Manual Skirpta it stated that Bombardment TF’s with retirement allowed will “if within 25 hexes of DH, move at Max Speed” …well mine didn’t, they choose to move only 5 hexes and then the HARUNA took a torpedo from a Beaufort from Darwin. From now own I trust my instincts above the manual, the Skirpta, et al.  Fortunately, my ground attack at Wundham went well and we reduced the fortifications to a 1! I finally got a good spot of an Allied TF moving east past Java. Last turn it read as a single AK (which single Allied subs occasionally read out as-so I though it was only a British/Dutch sub) but now its several ships; APs, AKs and Cruisers. I’m guessing that the BBs are being seen as APs/AKs. A little upset that my BETTYs didn’t strike him, they are well within range of the groups at Batavia and Soerbaja, but next turn will be even better as I will also detail the BETTYs at Kendari and Koepang to only Naval Attack with 20% Naval Search. I can’t believe they made it that far w/o being spotted previously.
The American Engineers at Koumac with no real assault value held off my PARATROOPERS! But what was worse was that my TF with the NAGATO, MUTSU & 6 Cruisers which I had ordered to bombard Noumea at “FULL SPEED” choose to pause and refuel a destroyer and a light cruiser and top off all the other destroyers and cruisers. Now the 2 battleships are low on fuel! Plus I lost my element of surprise. I guess the “Do not Refuel”, thing only works when it wants? I see he hasn’t moved his B-17’s to Australia, and that he upgraded one squadron to B-24’s at Noumea. He also has the Lexington’s TBDs at Noumea now as well. I wonder where the Lexington’s SBD’s are. (After GLEN Recon flights we have confirmed our suspicions that the Lexington is being repaired in Sydney).
Another turn, more ineffective Japanese ASW can’t seem to hit Allied subs even after they are spotted and in shallow or coastal hexes. Allied ASW in the other hand badly damages another Japanese sub, which they now will pursue till they sink.

Those damn Engineers plus small fragments of ground troops!

TURN NOTES: The game hates me; I am sure of it now. His TFs moving past the coast of Java have simply vanished. Although it was CLEAR weather once again and I have over 75 BETTYs based on Java, not counting the ones at Kendari and Koepang. I’m glad that I decided to move the TF w/the YAMASHIRO, FUSO, HYUGA, & ISE, out towards Wyndham instead of waiting. Hopefully they will be in a good position to intercept his Royal Navy battleships in a few days (hopefully after we torpedo a few of them!). I am guessing that the British carriers are somewhere near his battleships….but I can’t find them either! My Naval Bombardment of Darwin by 6 heavy cruisers caused only 178 casualties, no port or air field hits! At least in my attack at Darwin we reduced his forts to 2. The attack at Wyndham while only 0:1 odds, at least caused doubled the casualties to him.
In Koumac he tried to fly in reinforcements and although it said 4 different flights were interecepted there were fragments of a NZ Bde and the 24th US Infantry Division, but both read as an assault value of 0. But while we flew in more members of the 2nd PARA Rgt., he still held on to Koumac. Unfortunately I sent my “decoy” TF of 2 destroyers in the wrong direction, last turn they almost got torpedoed and they were again unable to find any of those small TFs of Aks/Aps he had wandering around Noumea. I will just have them join up with the main force at Koumac. I was surprised to see the New Zealand Brigade unit on New Caledonia, I was expecting to see some Marines; perhaps he still has the USMC Division afloat. If it’s even in this theater…but I just feel it is. He used the other USMC Division up in Dutch Harbor to thwart one of my attacks, so typical Floyd would be to send the other to the SW Pacific. My Naval bombardment of Noumea was a little disappointing but perhaps the two little engagements (vs. his 4 destroyers and PT Boats) wasted some ammunition. It’s possible that they wasted some ammo trying to hit the ships in port instead of pummeling the airfield which I would have preferred.
Looks like in Burma his target is Mytinka, if he is going to use his Liberators to bomb ground units that has to be his main target. I have to start looking for troops moving south from China or Ledo as well. Perhaps I will find a use for my floating reserves in Singapore?

TURN NOTES:
Well what I was afraid was going to happen, happened. The Royal Navy practically made it all the way to Australia before being attacking by ONE sentai of BETTYS! I put two torpedos into the HMS Revenge, but she was not listed as heavily damaged. My Battleship TF is off Timor as well since it has (probably) virtually mirrored the movement of his TF (my TF started from Singapore, then paused at Soerbaja). I have only seen 3 of his battleships so far and I surmise that he would have brought all 5 Royal Navy battleships that were available to him. Even that with the Revenge probably disabled that would mean a 4:4 battleship fight, his battleships have 15” guns, while mine pack only 14” guns. (Yes my 14” guns out range his 15” guns, but how often do surface combats start at ranges in excess of 33,000 yards?) I will give my BETTYS another day to hopefully shift the odds more in my favor and then tomorrow I will move out my Battleships looking for a fight. Also I have ‘refitted’ the JUNYO’s KATE group and will move her out with my Battleships. I have ordered TANAKA’s cruisers to run back to Darwin and bombard there, since for some reason they left Darwin w/o Bombarding last turn. Hopefully they will damage the air base some and entice the Royal Navy further north. (I’m betting that the RN is simply going to run for Wyndham tomorrow). My attack at Darwin was pitiful, for some reason the 38th Division was divided into 2 units; my disruption was not horrible except for the Mortar Battalion which has taken heavy loses.
GOOD NEWS- No Subs lost today! Plus Japanese ASW makes 2 Very Effective attacks, both scoring direct hits on American submarines with depth charges!
In China, am moving forces in position to attack Yennen, probably should’ve attacked this turn. He tells me this is where he feared an attack the most (in China) at the beginning of the game-oh well.
Let’s see what tomorrow will bring.

TURN NOTES:
Big Killer –All the IJNAF BETTY & NELL Datais/Chutais in the NW OZ Front do not strike! Why won’t my LBA strike his Royal Navy Battleships? Strangely there were no Air Strikes in the entire PM Phase! Planes at the same base as one of the BETTY units spotted the British SC TF one hex outside of Wyndham, but still they didn’t even strike. My BETTYs and NELLs at Kendari all with decent morale and the highest fatigue was one unit at 11- they didn’t strike either. The weather was clear! His planes from Northern Australia were able to strike at my TFs moving towards Timor and Kendari, but my planes at those bases all with ample supply and aviation support were inactive yet again. Now his battleships will bombard Wyndham next turn for sure. I will attempt to intercept/confront him with my 4 x 14”Battleships, supported by the JUNYO. I left both TFs in Koeppang last turn to wait and see what the results of what the LBA did (wonderful). TANAKA’s cruiser which I ordered to bombard Darwin at FULL SPEED-they were 7 hexes away-moved a total of 2 hexes! I’ll try to bombard Darwin again, and I guess I’ll use them as bait for the Royal Navy.
Still can’t drive those damned Engineers out of Koumac. I keep intercepting his PBYs attempting to fly in more reinforcements to Koumac. Apparently he figured out I was coming or his EAB Unit works well under fire because he had buil a level of fortifications there. But still I have almost the whole 2nd PARA RGT, most of SNLF PARA BN, plus half of the 16thInfantry Division (already unloaded) should have driven those bums out! Well he’s unloading men from the 41st Infantry Division in Noumea; they were on those APs I attacked & sunk; hopefully more men and guns went down in the harbor. Recon flights have raised the # of men in Noumea itself to over 20,000. Perhaps I should have tried to go straight for Noumea. I still can since all units in the 2nd wave are prepped for Nomea and not Koumac (another Division and Mixed Brigade). When the APs finish unloading the 16th Division they will head to Luganville to see if they need to load up the 4th Infantry Division to help out in New Caledonia.
My A6M2’s from Rangoon shot dwon a couple of his Liberators bombing Mandalay, but enough bombers made it through to damage some of the resource centers. I damaged ten of his LB-30’s so that might slow him his bombing campaign down (a day or twos rest).
Should I move my 1 unit of TOJOs to Burma?
He had a decent amount of CAP (P-40E’s) over his troops and Burna Corps HQ which were advancing towards the Mandalay/ Mytinka road junction. Perhaps he will try to move them off the track and directly through the jungle now?

Our game was temporarily suspended while my computer was in "BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH" Mode!
Wife attempted to fix....made it worse!
But then she came to the rescue and fixed it (yeah for women with computer tech skills) while I was out working "overtime" programming student for next semester!
Sent Floyd G a turn this earlier this evening so hopefully he'll send one back a.s.a.p.!

TURN NOTES:
Another fairly strange day in the war! I can’t belive my eyes! He only bought 3 Britsh Battleships to Australia! He bombarded Wyndham with the Warspite & Royal Sovereign (while, the Revenge w/two torpedos in her, has limped in to a port). So I wasted last turn for nothing! I had hoped to torpedo some of his BBs w/all my LBA in the area to improve my odds in a surface naval battle. Well luckily his bombardment of Wyndham had pretty lousy luck, but his planes did spot the HYUGA & FUSO closing on Wyndham…so will see wait happens now. I may catch his cruisers fleeing Wyndham before I run into his British battleships. The JUNYO’s VALs struck, even though they are on 50% Naval Search and her KATEs just watched. For some reason the majority of my torpedo carrying planes are reluctant to strike at the Royal Navy. It’s funny b/c the one Datai that keeps attacking has the lowest morale (39) and highest fatigue (25) or all my BETTY & NELL datais and chutais.
Still can’t kick his butt out of Koumac. He has been trying to reinforce by air, but the 2 combat units still keep coming up with 0 AVs + I’ve been intercepting 3 groups a turn (meaning most of the troops are being turned away). More troops are landing and going to be complicating matters since I don’t own the port. May have to bombard the crap out of every hex on New Caledonia! Will withdraw the SHOHO and ZUIHO back to Shortlands, they are both low on KATEs as well as the # of strike sorties they can launch.
Unloading supply and the 56th Brigade at Lunga, just got tired of all those Americans there and decided to end it now. Wasted enough time and effort there-hopefully will unload in a couple of days and then take the island capturing the majority of the Americal Division.
In Burma my planes hit the airfield at Kohima and boy was it ugly. Only a small # of OSCARS flew as escort and my dive-bombers got ravaged by his Hurricanes and Buffalos! One ANN datai (I have two at Manadalay) lost TEN planes and now has a morale of 16!
But yet another turn w/o an IJN sub lost!

Quickee Update before I got to bed -have to wake up in less then 6 hours (Yuck said I'd stop doing this to myself when I left the Army)

My BB TF met his off Wyndham and we had a little bout. I put One 14" shell into the Warspite, and sunk a CL, CLAA & DD [plus heavily damaged one CL] before he withdrew with only medium damage to one of my destroyers. The JUNYO's air group finished off the CL and then put a torpedo in to the Royal Sovereign.  All 4 of my BBs are in good shape w/less then 9 system damage. Unfortunately my BETTYs & NELLs at Kendari are still not striking...over 200 Aviaition Support. over 15k supply and clear weather-very curious. But BETTYs & SALLYs at Koeppang did alot of damage to the USS Chicago who I expect to sink soon.
PLUS we finally pushed him out of Koumac!
