Howdy. At present Taglia is beating the tar out of my Italians in Russia Dec 42 (Operation 'Little Saturn' )It is only turn 7 and my force is destroyed or routed. First PBEM game I have played in a long time. I like online battles much more but this one has been fun (If some what predictable) 2.4k Itailians vrs 7k Soviet. I did manage to kill a few T-34's and 1 KV-1e. Next I will try to talk him into being the Greeks in 1940 while I try an assault as Italy.
He is going to post the AAR on his web site and I recommend him as a good opponent for anyone looking for PBEM games.
I was kind of down on PBEM games after some in the earlier versions but it appears all the bugs have been fixed in recent versions (6.0+ current battle 7.1) I don't recall ever winning a PBEM battle, I usally get smoked pretty fast.

I'll follow you, I'll lead you about a round,
Through bog, through bush, through brake, through brier:
Sometime a horse I'll be, sometime a hound,
A hog, a headless bear, sometime a fire;
And neigh, and bark, and grunt, and roar, and burn,
Like horse, hound, hog, bear, fire, at every turn.

That yellow thing is outside my window, I have to crawl deeper into my cave.

Greetings, another night on the Eastern front, first encounter of the T-34 (I am in 13/40's)

O soft embalmer of the still midnight,
Shutting, with careful fingers and benign,
Our gloom-pleas'd eyes, embower'd from the light,
Enshaded in forgetfulness divine:
O soothest Sleep! if so it please thee, close
In midst of this thine hymn my willing eyes,
Or wait the "Amen," ere thy poppy throws
Around my bed its lulling charities.
Then save me, or the passed day will shine
Upon my pillow, breeding many woes,--
Save me from curious Conscience, that still lords
Its strength for darkness, burrowing like a mole;
Turn the key deftly in the oiled wards,
And seal the hushed Casket of my Soul.
The game is saved and will rest a while.
Before the fire begins anew,
A few hours of hexes on my iris burn'd
Before leading on my weary crew's

(poor Keats)

Hey Mogs,

I agree with the online part! Lately, as you know, I just can't find any time to do it (we are done with seasonal lay-off) I guess that means more PBEM for me.:( Can't wait for winter......;)

PS-Do you have a classical library next-door or something?:D

Greetings 11 battles into long campaign with a core force of Italians 11 DV's in a row. The last a terribly long defense against a horde of angry Russians 11/41 My poor Tank company comader was overrun and killed when his 13/40 broke down. (he was a 97)
my core is valued at around 1300 points (started at 1100 with 200 of that going to the A0 HQ unit)
A0 HQ (now S-35 Souma Tank)
A1 recon sqd (4man) (now incursori Sqd 6man)
A2 81mm mortar
A3 81mm mortar

B0 Tank Company HQ 11/39 tank (now 13/40)
B1 11/39 (now 13/40)
B2 recon sqd (4man) now incursori sqd (6man)
B3 recon sqd (4man) now incursori sqd (6 man)

C0 1st Platoon 11/39 (now 13/40)
C1 11/39 (now 13/40)
C2 same
C3 same
C4 recon sqd (4man) now incursori sqd (6man)
C5 same
C6 same
C7 Flame team (3 man)

D0 2nd Plt same as 1st Plt

E0 3rd Plt same as 1st Plt

F0 MC Platoon HQ
F1 MC Sqd
F2 MC Sqd
F3 MC Sqd

the tanks are all in the 70s and up (5x90's)
the infantry riders are in 60's and up (changing to incursori dropped them a bit but they have reached their final upgrade and should all be veteran in a battle or two (if they live)

The MC are all in 70's and up

I don't think there will be any more equipment upgrades for a while so the points will pile up. I have only killed 1 T-34 so far (flame team op fire at 1 hex) The 13/40 AP rounds just bounce off.
I may be forced into changing A2 and A3 into AT guns (those nice 90mm AA things)

The Assyrian came down like the wolf on the fold,
And his cohorts were gleaming in purple and gold;
And the sheen of their spears was like stars on the sea,
When the blue wave rolls nightly on deep Galilee.

Like the leaves of the forest when Summer is green,
That host with their banners at sunset were seen:
Like the leaves of the forest when Autumn hath blown,
That host on the morrow lay withered and strown.

For the Angel of Death spread his wings on the blast,
And breathed in the face of the foe as he passed;
And the eyes of the sleepers waxed deadly and chill,
And their hearts but once heaved, and for ever grew still!

And there lay the steed with his nostril all wide,
But through it there rolled not the breath of his pride;
And the foam of his gasping lay white on the turf,
And cold as the spray of the rock-beating surf.

And there lay the rider distorted and pale,
With the dew on his brow, and the rust on his mail:
And the tents were all silent, the banners alone,
The lances unlifted, the trumpet unblown.

And the widows of Ashur are loud in their wail,
And the idols are broke in the temple of Baal;
And the might of the Gentile, unsmote by the sword,
Hath melted like snow in the glance of the Lord!

Take that you Stalinist b#*&%ds!!!! (opps I thought the forum censor would modify it:eek: )
