The name "engrish.com" may be funnier than the actual picture.

A pox and a curse on Macrovision.  They have put updaters all over my system and the proggies are turning themselves on faster than I can locate them and get them turned off.

Mrs Dixie doesn't know where our frying pan is. She just uses the oven to burn things...

Sigh...

i have become rather discouraged about posting them since i figure somehow, someway they will be discarded such as the last umpteen ones i did...

i will think about it, however...

Yah, that really is a pain in the backside having to worry about THE THREAD being sent away to oblivion at the whim of the mods and their evil empire.

Isn't it interesting that the thread is what is always accidentally "lost" each time?

Yes, fascinating...

Although, i suppose, if some other thread in the past was lost, how would anyone know??

Exactly! Who cares about other, lesser threads?

As far as I'm concerned, they can continue to "discourage" us all they want. This is my internet home, and I intend to make myself comfortable!

All Hail The THREAD!!!

Ditto Tithe

The Thread is a large drain on resources though. I wonder why they could not save the posts like they did with version II?

Version II was not killed due to server update/migration issues.  It was actually locked after things got ugly during "the troubles."  At the time, there were also some lame excuses about "server load", etc, but they were nothing but weak attemts to justify locking it.  Version II was the one that lost several months of posts due to an editing error (honest mistake, I believe), which we refer to as "The Great Abridgement."

From the stories I've been told, Version I was deleted intentionally after some out of control "naked nun" pictures found their way into it.  I didn't arrive on the scene until Version II was going.

THE THREAD LIVES!!!  All is well.

BTW, The THREAD is no more a drain on web server and database resources than the same number of posts spread among all of the other (lesser) threads and sub forums. That's propaganda. Don't buy into it.

Watching the Fast Show on DVD

You know RONNIE CORBETT?  He's BRILLIANT!  But he's not really small.
He's a great big bloke who they made look small so he could fit on the
telly.  An' they did it with trick photography - which is brilliant.  Only,
they don't call it that no more - they call it special effects.  And they're
brilliant.  Like in Terminator 2.  Have you SEEN it?  It's about this bloke
who can turn into a puddle an' back again.  Fantastic!  Aren't sequels
brilliant?  They're the same film, wi' same title, but a diff'rent number,
like, two or three.  Even bad films are great, aren't they?  Cos as least
they try.  In the future, all films will be brilliant.  In fact, everything will
be brilliant in the future - with cars on monorails, an' brilliant silvery
costumes, an' food in pills, an' probably some special kind of futury can-
opener.  Fantastic!  An' everything will be done by computers.  Aren't
computers BRILLANT?  They can do ANYTHING!  Except play football.
A computer wouldn't be no good in goal!  But they can do everything
else, virtually.  In't virtual reality brilliant?  It's exactly like reality, only
you wear an 'at!  I tried it with me brother's crash helmet the other day,
an' I fell downstairs.  Aren't hospitals brilliant?

'olidays are brilliant, aren't they?  They last two weeks.  Two weeks!  Or
one if you want.  Or even just a weekend.  It dunt ma'er.  Or if you've got
time - a month!  But maybe that's too long, eh?  Anyway, the whole
point of 'em is, that you don't 'ave to go to work!  If you've got a job,
that, is.  Huh!  An' you can go t' foreign countries - any of 'em you like,
like... France!  Or that other one.  Huh!  An' you go on a plane.  Planes
are brilliant aren't they?  Imagine what 'olidays must be like without 'em.
Huh!  To get to France would take, like, years and years - an' you'd 'ave
'ad to swim the channel with your suitcases.  An' your pyjamas would
'ave got all wet!  Huh!  But it's ?? no more?? cos you can get on a
plane - and that's brilliant!  An' some of 'em now go faster than the speed
o' sound which is really brilliant!  Cos that means, before you went, you
could like, shout "hello!", and when you got there, if you really, really,
listened, you could probably 'ear yourself far off an' distant, like, "hello!".
Like an echo, "hello!".  Aren't echoes brilliant!  They're not a modern
invention - you just shout an' it comes back exactly t'same.  You don't
'ave to do owt - the mountain does it all for ya!  Some mountains are
volcanoes, and they really are brilliant.  See?  Volcano - brilliant!
Flooding - fantastic!  Great big flames - brilliant!  Lightning - brilliant!
Forest fires - yeah!  TORNADOES!  THEY'RE BRILLIANT!  BEST!  SOUND!
AMAZIN'!
