Hi all,

Well, okay... If you want to be pedantic...

It's an entertainment show, and it entertains me, even though I know it's not realistic.

Hear! Hear!

Leo "Apollo11"

i like plenty of nonrealistic shows, but tend not to like those that present themselves as realistic... and again, the fact that i don't like House the character is a dealbreaker.

I can vouch for Bob on this. I love to read his synopsis posts when he's watching the made for sci-fi channel movies...great fun.

If we're talking about House, it's entertaining, but it's as much science fiction as the movies Bob watches.

Yes, i used to be one of "those" people when i was younger. Now i'm much more mellow. Hell, i even like the History channel.....a media format that seems to piss off people around here off too no end if they get even one detail wrong or gloss something over. GF unit also put me through a 12 step program on not commenting at all when watching a documentary unless she asks. If i get too detailed or simply run off at the mouth she gently lets me know by shouting SHUT UP!

like i said....."subtle"

And yet, people here get SOOOO upset about relatively minor inaccuracies in a recent war film...

If the writers of House had written a movie about 7 December (preserving relative accuracy of the show House to real events):

The KB accompanied by the superbattleships YAMATO, MUSHASHI, and SHINANO sneak up on the Hawaiian islands, making their final dash to attack at 1200 kts.

After the jet-powered Zeros destroy the fleet, the YAMATO, MUSHASHI, and SHINANO move in and shell the US bases.

A cranky but brilliant cripple deduces where the IJN fleet will go to next based on his enormous codebreaking ability, then when those in command don't take him seriously, he commandeers a biplane trainer, locates the enemy fleet and destroys it by strafing it with his .45 Colt pistol!

Hmmm... maybe Hollywood beckons??

today's "personalized" canned templates.

Nothing makes you feel like a number instead of a name better than the dreaded canned response.

One of my early projects here at the bar association was to draft form letters to reply to prisoners seeking legal aid.

here at the bar association

OMG, yer not being bitten by a weasel, you ARE a weasel.

One of my favorite things in life is when acquaintances and business associates start telling me their, or their relatives', sad, sad tales of penal woe.

"Well, my son, who's a good kid, is on the sex offenders list for having Internet contact with, and then going to a motel to meet, a 12-year-old girl."

"How can they pull you over and arrest you for drunk driving when you're not doing anything wrong?"

"I've always been an honest businessman ... except for that criminal fraud conviction ..."

What's best - the UFO crap, the "pseudo-network reality TV," the 50,000 hours of crab fishing, the "Aliens created humanity" nonsense, or the "How Shoelaces Work" gobbledygook?

Strictly speaking, I answer phones for weasels. My favorite lawyer referral request, reproduced almost verbatim, was as follows:

"My daughter's boyfriend...he done killed a man...and buried him under their trailer. And now the law's saying that 'cause she knew...she's a 'complice...but that ain't right. Can you help me?"

It was from Indiana, which as near as I can deduce from my day-to-day experiences, is some sort of nexus for crime in the midwestern USA.

nooooooooo. If i want UFO stories, i'll watch SciFi. Far more interesting stuff than listening to someone claim that Alien races that are so advanced that they can travel across the dimensions just to stick anal probes into our bums. (with a nod towards Dennis Miller)

And any form of "reality" TV makes me break out in hives.

Yepperino. I am a weasel. I am a patent weasel, but nevertheless, a card carying weasel member of the California and Federal Bar associations. Oh, and did I mention I'm a card carying life member of the NRA; so if the first thing you do, is kill all the lawyers, there's gonna be a carpet of protein on my yard, instead of grass, before this little butt goes down.

95% of the swine don't deserve to live, and should die slowly; very, very slowly. The other 5% have to prove it.
