Thanks Nemo :) It has taken me a long time to really feel like I understand this game enough to get into a PBEM. I don't want to get into one and not finish it. I've never done a WiTP nor a WPO PBEM. I've done 12 or so in other games (TOAWIII and Civ), including one Civ3-Conquests using a "The Cold War" mod that had 8 guys and lasted for over two years! It ended in a technical victory for our side, the allies. I tend to think I'm fairly good at these things, and I really enjoy them but (a) sometimes the playing the critical turns can really soak up a lot of free time (which is a preferable way to spend it than a lot of other ways) and (b) sputtered PBEMs, or ones where opponents are just not a good personality match seem like an even worse waste of time. Add to all these considerations that AE will (hopefully) be coming out soon enough, and I'm just a bit reluctant to get into a PBEM using WiTP at this stage. Right now I'm slackin' like a pro, but it is summer. Granted I got work I need to get done, but I can afford a BIT of slackin'. Later in the semester that will not be the case, and I'll be lucky if I can find time to do a 1 turn every other day schedule. I've got some guys that want to redo a Civ4 "Next War" PBEM we played a year or so ago (in which me and another guy caused "the Earth's Crust to Crack! from firing too many nuclear missiles ), so I'm pretty well committed to doing that in the coming months. In short, I don't feel like I can be truly deeply committed to a PBEM that I'd start with WiTP RHS right now. I'd be able to give it quite a bit of time over the next month but that would slack off and then when AE came out, who knows if either one of us would want to continue! If any of you guys reading this feel similarly, and would like to get something going let me know. I'd even be willing to play Japan. I could afford to expend the learning curve points to figure out production over the next few weeks, which would be good long-term training for AE.
