ORIGINAL: 2ndACR Start small.......read some AAR's for insight........ask questions...............WITP is the most active and responsive forum around. Speaking as a WITP watcher, not a player (yet)... 600,000+ posts and counting in that forum, the largest of the Matrix forums by a huge margin. These guys are ****ing nuts, and I mean that in the nicest way possible. Just remarkable. (See post #46 above for more.) Hearts of Iron 2 is the only wargame I know of that even competes with this kind of following. That being said, the game requires dedication, plain and simple. You better be pretty interested in the Pacific war, or else you will lose steam fast. Something like WPP or SC2: Pacific may be more appropriate if you are not as committed to the setting. Too bad their representation of the hardware (ships and planes) is pretty abstract. Continuing the train of thought: It would be nice to have the simpler game rules, but with less abstract hardware. I guess that means I want something more tactical, but I know of no tactical sea / air Pacific game, except perhaps Carriers at War (which I need to play sometime).
