AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 07/18/42 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sub attack at 62,44 Japanese Ships AP Surabaya Maru, Shell hits 6, Torpedo hits 2, on fire Allied Ships SS Grouper, hits 4 thatīs the downside of not including escorts, the sub attacks on the surface. Must be a lot of FOW in this attack as I doubt that the AP was hit by two torps as itīs only moderately damaged. Sys, flt and fire in the 30s, the ship has a good chance to make it into a level 9 port. Would Grouper be hit by 4x3 inch shells it would at least be burning so I guess this is alos just FOW... Thereīs also a MSW ASW TF in the hex... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Day Air attack on Koepang , at 28,77 Japanese aircraft Ki-43-Ic Oscar x 91 Allied aircraft Catalina I x 7 Blenheim IV x 9 B-25C Mitchell x 133 B-17E Fortress x 15 Japanese aircraft losses Ki-43-Ic Oscar: 7 destroyed, 50 damaged Ki-46-II Dinah: 1 destroyed Allied aircraft losses Blenheim IV: 3 destroyed, 3 damaged B-25C Mitchell: 12 destroyed, 109 damaged B-17E Fortress: 15 damaged Japanese ground losses: 41 casualties reported Airbase hits 6 Airbase supply hits 1 Runway hits 50 Aircraft Attacking: 1 x B-25C Mitchell bombing at 15000 feet hmmm... Miller learnt... a lot of those Mitchells are Dutch groups, couple of weeks ago they were still flying Martins so he figured out he should upgrade them to those durable medium bombers. Well, Miller took once again the advantage of the feature that he can see my aircraft transfers and attacked this base immediately after he spotted the dark airfield symbol. Donīt know if it was an advantage today though. Just look at the damage rate the Allied bombers took and then look at the op losses further below... When my bombers fly 2 hexes without any defensive fire then half a dozen crash constantly even though they are very experienced. We damage 100+ Mitchels that are flying at absolute max range and hey... 1 lost to ops... at least 9 more were going down on the way home, accounted as a2a kill we were quite lucky not to lose more Oscars on the ground it seems and in total we lose 5 pilots today. The good thing is that the bomber morale must be totally trashed and I donīt really fear to see them coming back anytime soon. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Day Air attack on Manila , at 43,52 Japanese aircraft A6M2 Zero x 141 D3A Val x 68 B5N Kate x 62 G4M1 Betty x 34 Ki-43-Ic Oscar x 70 No Japanese losses Allied ground losses: 176 casualties reported Guns lost 1 Airbase hits 2 Runway hits 81 Port hits 2 Aircraft Attacking: 32 x Ki-43-Ic Oscar bombing at 2000 feet -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Day Air attack on 1st Reserve Tank Regiment, at 23,11 Allied aircraft Hurricane IIb x 28 No Allied losses Japanese ground losses: 94 casualties reported Vehicles lost 4 Aircraft Attacking: 14 x Hurricane IIb bombing at 2000 feet attack out of Delhi... As the Allied troops canīt break through towards Karachi, 7 of them have entrenched at Delhi now, which is urban also. Two of my inf units are moving there or have already arrived and I will just block the enemy there while preparing the other troops to assault Karachi where we now spot 10 units and 40.000 troops. Looks like troops arrived from the reinforcement list. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Day Air attack on 8th Ind. Brigade, at 50,26 Allied aircraft IL-4c x 7 No Allied losses Japanese ground losses: 32 casualties reported Aircraft Attacking: 3 x IL-4c bombing at 6000 feet attack on my units at Yenen... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Day Air attack on 78th Chinese Corps, at 47,29 Japanese aircraft Ki-51 Sonia x 2 Ki-21 Sally x 22 Ki-48 Lily x 12 Ki-49 Helen x 4 No Japanese losses Allied ground losses: 105 casualties reported Aircraft Attacking: 3 x Ki-48 Lily bombing at 6000 feet -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Day Air attack on 53rd Chinese Corps, at 47,29 Japanese aircraft Ki-21 Sally x 12 Ki-48 Lily x 8 Ki-49 Helen x 3 No Japanese losses Allied ground losses: 99 casualties reported Aircraft Attacking: 3 x Ki-48 Lily bombing at 6000 feet -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Day Air attack on 87th Chinese Corps, at 47,29 Japanese aircraft Ki-43-Ic Oscar x 36 Ki-32 Mary x 8 Ki-51 Sonia x 10 Ki-21 Sally x 46 Ki-48 Lily x 14 Ki-49 Helen x 11 No Japanese losses Allied ground losses: 230 casualties reported Guns lost 4 Aircraft Attacking: 20 x Ki-21 Sally bombing at 6000 feet -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Day Air attack on TF, near Madras at 18,21 Allied aircraft Wellington III x 20 Hudson I x 21 Allied aircraft losses Wellington III: 2 damaged Hudson I: 4 damaged Japanese Ships BB Ise BB Hyuga, Bomb hits 2 DD Yukikaze Aircraft Attacking: 2 x Wellington III bombing at 5000 feet 2 x Hudson I bombing at 5000 feet looks like I was lucky as most of the enemy bombers failed to locate the target. Iīve got some 80 fighters at the base, they were all set to escort because my bombers were ordered to fly an attack - which they didnīt... Hyuga got a secondary armament turret knocked out... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Day Air attack on TF, near Madras at 18,21 Allied aircraft Wellington III x 27 Hudson I x 17 Allied aircraft losses Wellington III: 1 destroyed Hudson I: 1 destroyed, 2 damaged Japanese Ships BB Ise, Bomb hits 4, on fire BB Hyuga, Bomb hits 5, on fire Aircraft Attacking: 3 x Wellington III bombing at 5000 feet 2 x Hudson I bombing at 5000 feet another strike in the afternoon. The bombers are coming from Ceylon and this time they achieve quite a couple of hits, knocking out another secondary armament turret. Both ships accumulated something like 4 sys points and also 3-5 fire points so the total will probably be 5-7 sys points. I donīt like that. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ASW attack at 62,44 Japanese Ships MSW W.20 MSW W.19 MSW W.14 MSW W.2 MSW W.1 Allied Ships SS Grouper, hits 1 now my ASW TF tries to attack Grouper... lol, the impressive result of a near miss again... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ASW attack at 62,44 Japanese Ships MSW W.20 MSW W.19 MSW W.14 MSW W.2 MSW W.1 Allied Ships SS Grouper another round, performing even worse... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ground combat at Sian Japanese Bombardment attack Attacking force 14194 troops, 457 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 2926 Defending force 122691 troops, 813 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 3742 Allied ground losses: 132 casualties reported -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ground combat at Yenen Japanese Shock attack Attacking force 99470 troops, 1043 guns, 10 vehicles, Assault Value = 1916 Defending force 48878 troops, 326 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 1369 Japanese engineers reduce fortifications to 2 Japanese max assault: 3290 - adjusted assault: 2686 Allied max defense: 1363 - adjusted defense: 2459 Japanese assault odds: 1 to 1 (fort level 2) Japanese Assault reduces fortifications to 2 Japanese ground losses: 5790 casualties reported Guns lost 51 Vehicles lost 2 Allied ground losses: 663 casualties reported Guns lost 16 god damn! I hate it to be unlucky! Today, three fresh Chinese corps moved into the base, increasing the enemy av by 1000! points, resulting in 2000 points in the wooden hex. This totally wrecked my Army here!
