some more hits on the airfield. Miller told me that he was right and Iīm going to invade Lautern! Well thereīs no invasion. He also told me he wonīt let that happen. Therefor I was prepared to see 200 bombers attacking me during the day but after those bombardments I was sure there arenīt that many bombers at Lautern...

Aircraft Attacking:
24 x B5N Kate bombing at 26000 feet

this is the only way I can hit Allied bases. With high exp Kates from KB that drop laser guided bombs from 26.000ft which is above flak range in Nikmod... but of course this is a very rare happening as I canīt always move KB somewhere to bomb a base... why Kates have a 5 times higher accuracy in bombing than other IJN bombers is beyond my understanding. The Betty drops the same number of bombs but canīt hit anything, even when equally skilled... oh those miracles of Mr. Grigsby...

Guess the base is closed...

as you can see, the Betties hit "nothing" even though there were more, they are equally skilled and were bombing from 10.000ft lower...

losses of today... We killed a nice number of ac at Lautern, but it was more important to close the base. Wonder how I should keep it closed though. Once again I can only shake my head about the mod though, just look at the losses I took... 17 Japanese ac lost - all to ops! Hey ho - itīs ridicoulos. Attacking a base without a real defense and still my ac crash like they would be flown by green pilots. 80 damaged 4Es return from a 1000 mile trip without a single ac lost... there is something wrong....

Just look at the Tojos! How on earth can I lose 7 Tojos to ops in one day when all they do is fly CAP??? Stupid!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ground combat at Sian

Japanese Deliberate attack

Attacking force 291165 troops, 3041 guns, 37 vehicles, Assault Value = 5664

Defending force 80694 troops, 24 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 2647

Allied ground losses:

lol, I should just get more relaxed I guess... why should I go mad about something like this. Fourth attack, fourth time with hundreds of combat eng, fourth time I donīt knock a fort level down. Sometimes I really ask myself how many bugs there are in the game. Guess this isnīt a bug, but hey, what kind of die rolls are there? Iīm attacking a base that has no supply, itīs a clear hex and still my 90+ exp divisions get mauled day after day, not being able to take on the Maginot line at Sian... again: stupid!

I have nearly 300.000 high experienced troops attacking out of supply Chinese at the moment and the deliberate attack causes 1600 casualties within the defender. Miller uses 5 art units at Dili, that have to be supplied over 120 miles of trails and they do nearly 1000 casualties within my INF units! How often do I have to use the word "stupid"?

As mentioned above, here comes the joke of the day. And again, I have to use the word stupid.

The DD was hit by a 20mm Oerlikon! Any comments on the damage? Itīs a funny game and no all the Allied fanboys are right, PTs arenīt overrated... lol, a 20mm Oerlikon hit. Glad the DD wasnīt hit twice, as it would sink then... I like that smiley...

the increasing number of P-38 is becoming concerning I have to say. LRCAP of some 50 fighters would have a problem against those three dozen fighters on escort...

like yesterday, KBīs Kates were ordered to attack Lauternīs airfield from above the stratosphere... They must be really dropping laser guided bombs, hit rate is amazing again. The airfield is surely 100% damaged and another dozen ac are destroyed on the ground. Unfortunately Miller moved out his 200 Marauders the day we attacked for the first time...

not much damage done, those attacks would be great if the 4Es just would suffer some op losses now and then... well, they donīt ....

more and more fighters are moved to New Caledonia to do training runs... weīre trading our fighters 1:2 at the moment with our pilots being around 80 exp and the enemy around 60. When those pilots reach 70-80 also and they will fly Corsairs in three months then we will trade 15 Zeroes or 25 Tojos for one Corsair shot down I guess... bright future...

we suffered some 25.000 casualties here so far, reduced the enemy av by 280 points or so and were not able to knock down a single fort level with 4 deliberate attacks... the enemy must be out of supply and has only 20 guns left...

unfortunately for us the Allied art units employ tactical nukes already. A deliberate attack of all Allied units here causes 1500 casualties, a bombardment of 5 art units alone causes 800...

You know, having served on destroyers -and watched sink ex's where equivelant guns have been used -Im not that surprised at a DD having that sort of damage -if a great long burst went marching along the length of you -but the game does'nt tell us that.
One shell -impossible damage -a burst into say a boiler room -yep!

(then again a single 20mm into the main steam crossover Vv in one engine room would have brought my last ship to a terible halt really, reall quick

i remember an UV AAR in which a japanese barge managed to heavily damage a US sub with a single 20 or 25 mm MK hit. later in the day, the sub went down. that may be a kind of "lucky punch"...like a fighter takeing down a B-17 with a 7.7mm MG burst.

on the other side you see subs hitting mines and the next day crash diving in front of a 6 DD ASW TF... oh well, as a Japanese player Iīm used to losing my whole DD fleet to PTs anyway. Has always been so, will never be different in WITP.

besides closing the base it would also be great to score some supply hits, as supply is the most important thing for the Allied ground offensive on Timor... with the airbase being closed Miller canīt move in huge amounts of supply as I would attack those attempts no matter at what costs. So without having his airbase on Timor he wonīt have 300 fighters that he could put on Cap to see 250+ in the air and this means he would have to use his carriers to cover such a big style resupply attempt. And this would again mean I would throw in everything I can. The piece meal attacks near Noumea on the enemy carriers were a disaster but around Timor I have several airbases that could launch strikes against carriers near Lautern and with hundreds of ac in the area Iīm sure I could cause trouble as long as the enemy is mostly flying F4Fs. We will see... the enemy carriers are expected to be still near Noumea and it will take some time to move them into position, if Miller even wants to do that. But it seems heīs convinced that my 2nd attack on Timor is only a matter of days, the sigint he gets about my divs planning for Australian targets canīt bluff him I guess.

the fifth deliberate attack and the fifth time my divisions get shredded but with luck we achieved at least a 1:1 today which knocked down a fort level. But for the fifth time my combat engineers were totally useless. Iīm rotating combat eng in and out all the time and I have no clue why they canīt achieve something here at this base. But the Chinese supply level seems to cause trouble for the defender. But the Chinese are still able to inflict a huge casualty rate with their bajonette attacks...

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 11/27/42

Miller proved to be extremely lucky this turn again IMO. While he has been flying constant air attacks against Dili day after day after day... he stopped TODAY!!!!! Why? Heck, because I have set 440 fighters to LRCAP the damned base to intercept the enemy. What flew in? Only a couple of Catalinas to do recon over the base and to show Miller that there are 100+ Japanese fighters over Dili! Wonderful, it really seems to me that Miller has psychich abilities...

the enemyīs bombardments are more a threat than the deliberate attacks. The bombardments have worn down two of my divisions. They are completely shredded! Thereīs not a single gun combat ready anymore, only inf and support squads, everything else is disabled and both divisions are down to 50-60/95. Which means both divs are wrecked and not combat worthy anymore! Great. Whatīs even a bigger shock is the fact that both divisions stay at 80% disruption and this is something Iīve never seen before! The 5 art units cause two of my divisions to fight at only 20% of their remaining strenght and thatīs more than depressing, as more than a dozen of my art units in China achieve nothing. But the Allied are bogged down here and if Miller isnīt doing the right things, then I will kill those 5 or 6 Allied divisions on Timor together with the art units and the base forces...

The cruisers bombard during the night AND during the day! This is new to me - saying this after years of playing - as I always experienced the TF bombarding during the night if set to retire and bombarding at the end of the day when set to patrol do not retire. But Iīve never seen one TF bombarding TWICE a day...

lol, how much more ridicoulos can it get... 6th attack I guess, once we were able to knock down a fort... well, no matter how many more casualties we take, this base will fall, even if the next 20 attacks look like this... sooner or later there are no Chinese left, even if they will still be sitting behind level 8 forts... this is also new to me as hundreds of combat engineers normally donīt need a dozen attempts to take down one fort level, especially if the enemy is mostly or even totally out of suplly.

couple of Allied divisions at Suva now, not much fighting power left... Miller has worn down his divisions with the landings at Noumea and Nandi and this wasnīt a must as he could have done that with far fewer casualties. With level 5 forts and a wooden hex Iīm not even sure the Allied can take the base, a couple of lucky die rolls for us and the base will hold...

looks like the fact that we closed down Lautern stopped all Allied bomber attacks on Dili and Koepang also as Miller seems not to be willing to fight my Cap over Timor at the moment. Iīm sure he will launch one big strike again when his bombers have a good morale again, but it is buying us time and thatīs not good for our enemy...

We have an interesting discussion, again I hope Miller doesnīt mind me posting his email and my reply.

Miller:

Evening. I know most IJN subs get an increase in durability to make them less likely to die against allied ASW in this mod. However, I was puzzled at how poor my ASW was until I looked at the weapons stats...........the allied DC's have had their depth rating reduced to less than the IJN....ridiculous!

Basically it means your subs are immune to attack in deep water hexes, unless they meet a TF containing 12+ DDs.........

Well, I didnīt understand that at all so Iīve looked up the stats in the editor and replied:

Hmm, never heard of that and I couldnīt find anything about that in the readme of the mod. And from my experience I canīt confirm that either, I had never anything like immune IJN subs, no matter if I was playing the IJN or Allied side.

Letīs see, all stats from the editor:

IJN subs durability 30-33 with the highest classes at 36. USN fleet subs durability 30 with the highest being the Balao class with 40.

Depth charges:

IJN

Type 91 effect 220

Type 95 effect 325

Type 2 effect 357

USN

MK6 effect 300

MK7 effect 700

MK7m1 effect 600

MK9 effect 200 (with a three times higher accuracy than the IJN types)

All Allied depth charges have a better accuracy. Why you think that the Allied depth charges were reduced to half of the IJN is beyond me, in fact they mostly have DOUBLE the effect with a higher accuracy than the IJN depth charges. This together with the common ASW rating of a USN DD of 6 vs a IJN DD with 4 makes one USN DD 3 (in words: THREE) times as effective as an IJN DD. And the British DDs are worth 4 times an IJN DD.

IJN subs arenīt any harder to sink in this mod than in stock.

this was yesterday evening and I havenīt looked for turns since then but Iīm excited to read Millerīs reply.

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 11/30/42

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Naval bombardment of Suva, at 86,114

Allied Ships
CL Concord
CL Marblehead
CL Detroit
CL Raleigh

Japanese ground losses:
33 casualties reported

Airbase hits 1
Runway hits 8
Port hits 1
Port supply hits 4

this time the Allied CLs only did a bombardment during the night, but during the day we still spotted an Allied TF in the hex...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sub attack near Saipan at 63,64

Japanese Ships
AP Baikal Maru, Torpedo hits 1, on fire, heavy damage

Allied Ships
SS Pompano

this sub was spotted a couple of days ago and I was to lazy to send an ASW TF from Truk and after checking a couple of TFs going and coming from Truk I thought that none would pass the Saipan hex... well, one out of a dozen or so did and of course the spotted sub scored a hit out of a 2 torp salvo. The AP is dead, with 68 flt and 40 fires thereīs no way it will survive at the level 3 port of Saipan...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sub attack near Saipan at 63,64

Japanese Ships
AP Atuta Maru

Allied Ships
SS Pompano

another attack on the same convoy, again only a 2 torp salvo.... torps missed....

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sub attack near Saipan at 63,64

Japanese Ships
AP Baikal Maru, on fire, heavy damage

Allied Ships
SS Pompano

and Ponpanoīs third attack today, the already doomed Baikal Maru is hit but the torps failed to detonate. It was the third 2 torp salvo...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Attacking force 14227 troops, 458 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 4535

Defending force 73495 troops, 2 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 2254

Allied ground losses:
99 casualties reported

at least all our failed attacks reduced also the defenders av by some 600-700 points... means around 120 av for each failed attack... So only 15+ more attacks and the base surely surrenders...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ground combat at Myitkyina

Japanese Bombardment attack

Attacking force 8275 troops, 283 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 1031

Defending force 217802 troops, 651 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 5841

Allied ground losses:
8 casualties reported

looks like Kweiyangīs defenders reached their max av again, it hasnīt been growing anymore. This is good news as this tells me that the supply situation of the rest of China isnīt far from what it should be. When I look at all the corps and divisions here then they are all totally understrenght and donīt seem to get reinforcements due to supply shortage. They also donīt seem to recover disabled squads anymore.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ground combat at Karachi

Allied Bombardment attack

Attacking force 74538 troops, 645 guns, 12 vehicles, Assault Value = 2021

Defending force 71067 troops, 858 guns, 15 vehicles, Assault Value = 1454

Japanese ground losses:
8 casualties reported
Guns lost 1

Allied ground losses:
24 casualties reported
Guns lost 3

itīs nearly 43 and this is all the Allied have in India and that is pretty surprising to me. I guess I will have at least 6-12 months until the Allied troop strenght due to reinforcements at Karachi grows to frightening numbers again. Excellent!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ground combat at Suva

Allied Bombardment attack

Attacking force 26728 troops, 353 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 887

hopefully the casualties from the art bombardments stay in this range now... 200 is ok, 600-1000 each turn is depressing...

A comparably slow day for this AAR...

hehe! Thereīs life besides WITP - little, but there is! Wasnīt able to do a turn on Wednesday so the AAR sloooowed down...

The AAR started November 08 and weīve nearly done a yearīs game time, so on average we did nearly 4 turns a day! Not that bad.

Three turns done yesterday evening, the first one is a bloody one...

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 12/01/42

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sub attack near Maumere at 28,73

Japanese Ships
APD APD-35, Torpedo hits 1, on fire, heavy damage
APD APD-38
APD APD-36
APD APD-33
APD APD-32
APD APD-31

Allied Ships
SS KVIII, hits 8, on fire

Sent an ASW killer group to attack the spotted sub at Maumere and a killer gets... killed... Chance to survive the torp hit is around 0.2%, takes four days to get to Kendari and the ship has 87 flt and 32 fires... in return we achieve a hit and 7 near misses... and SS KX was hit by a Helen on nav search...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day Air attack on Pamakasan , at 24,66

Japanese aircraft
A6M2 Zero x 5
B5N Kate x 5
Ki-43-Ic Oscar x 104

No Japanese losses

Airbase hits 1
Airbase supply hits 2
Runway hits 25

Aircraft Attacking:
22 x Ki-43-Ic Oscar bombing at 2000 feet
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day Air attack on Koepang , at 28,77

Japanese aircraft
Ki-44-IIb Tojo x 201

Allied aircraft
PBY Catalina x 1
P-38G Lightning x 36

Japanese aircraft losses
Ki-44-IIb Tojo: 7 destroyed, 12 damaged

Allied aircraft losses
PBY Catalina: 1 damaged
P-38G Lightning: 28 destroyed

Miller sent a sweep from Derby and this time EVERYTHING went in our favour! First, we get a huge Cap, 201 out of 285 fighters in the air - that is huge for Japanese terms. And we bounce the incoming twin tailed devils nearly for the whole engagement. With the bounce the Tojos became killers, without it they are dogs in fighter vs fighter engagements. What really was shocking for me is the fact that the Lightnings are totally hard to down even when being shot from short range from behind. A Warhawk is being shot down from behind 3 out of 4 times, a Lightning 1 out of times, the bastards are nearly as hard to down as a bomber, thank god there are only 30 eaach month coming out of the factory until mid 43. I donīt want to think about how hard it will be to take one down when not being shot from behind. And normally you more or less only get "shots from behind" when you get the bounce. In the end we nearly trade 1 Tojo for 4 Lightnings.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day Air attack on Dili , at 31,77

Allied aircraft
Wellington III x 62
B-25C Mitchell x 200

No Allied losses

Japanese ground losses:
84 casualties reported
Guns lost 1

Port hits 9
Port supply hits 28

Aircraft Attacking:
9 x B-25C Mitchell bombing at 6000 feet

Dili? Why the Lightning sweep and not all bombers attacking Koepang? well, serves me good... the supply hits stay really concerning, but the port hits do nothing, the damage is repaired within one turn and the forts are slooowly growing now being at 1 (17%). I had half a dozen construction btn there but with the air and ground attacks they were totally wrecked and I had to pull them out again. As it is now, there are around 120 eng from the inf units I have there.

Day Air attack on Manila , at 43,52

Japanese aircraft

Aircraft Attacking:
10 x P-40E Warhawk bombing at 2000 feet

in four months those USMC squadrons will rule the skies when flying Corsairs... say good bye air superiority...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here we go...

Day Air attack on Koepang , at 28,77

Japanese aircraft
Ki-44-IIb Tojo x 136

Allied aircraft
Wellington III x 3
B-17E Fortress x 111
LB-30 Liberator x 29
B-24D Liberator x 108

Japanese aircraft losses
Ki-44-IIb Tojo: 10 destroyed, 116 damaged

Allied aircraft losses
Wellington III: 3 destroyed
B-17E Fortress: 5 destroyed, 101 damaged
LB-30 Liberator: 2 destroyed, 25 damaged
B-24D Liberator: 15 destroyed, 78 damaged

Japanese ground losses:
186 casualties reported

Airbase hits 8
Airbase supply hits 4
Runway hits 41

Aircraft Attacking:
3 x B-17E Fortress bombing at 10000 feet
3 x LB-30 Liberator bombing at 10000 feet
7 x B-24D Liberator bombing at 10000 feet

Miller again was lucky! Why? Because in the morning phase the staging base (Wyndham) of the 4Es was clouded and therefor they didnīt attack right after the Lightnings when we still had 190 fighters in the air. In the afternoon, weather was better, the bombers attacked and our Cap level was back at was it usually is - at best around 50%. The bombers are met by 136 IJA fighters and many turn back but morale surely was high within the Allied bomber groups as they only turned back in small numbers like 3-5 bombers each time. Watching the replay I was sure that the fighters wonīt be able to defend the base and there will surely be a lot of bombers dropping their bombs on the base.

The losses of the 4E bombers are depressing again, even though more than those shot down immedietely during the replay are lost a2a in the end... For example, only TWO of the 78 damaged B-24 crashed after the replay. 6 more B-17 (out of 101 damaged) and 5 LB-30 (out of 25 damaged) crashed after the replay. The around 80-90 bombers that attack the base kill 20 fighters on the ground, the base ends the turn with only 22 remaining damage to the airbase, the runways are repaired immediately. My problem stays mainly the same even if it didnīt turn out to be catastrophic today. There are just too many fighters staying on the ground, this means there are more bombers coming through, less being shot down and more fighters are destroyed on the ground. But it could have gone FAR worse also today, so thereīs no reason to really complain I gues...

those attacks arenīt really worth it I guess, the enemy is surely out of supply anyway and it doesnīt matter if two of the 15 or more units are disrupted or not, with the high fort levels my divisions will probably get shredded again... deliberate attack tomorrow...

Ground combat at Sian

Japanese Bombardment attack

Attacking force 14531 troops, 178 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 311

Defending force 18464 troops, 108 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 359

we moved three bgds to Chengtu (coming over the trails from the East). One arrived and the other two should arrive within tomorrow. We encounter a Chinese corps and two base forces, there must also be a HQ because recon tells us that there are four units at the base but HQ units donīt show up during the replay. Itīs a clear hex, there are hopefully not max fort numbers and the hex is surely perfectly supplied as Chengtu is the most important supply base for the Chinese. So with three bgds it will be a tough fight I guess, I fear the base will hold. Chengtu has 300 resources and also a couple of hundred auto supply so moving to this base is essential for the war in China because even if we donīt take the base, we stop the supply generation from the resource center (the autosupply still arrives) but none of the supply will flow out of the base anymore. This means the Chinese lost another 600 (I guess) supplies each day from yesterday on when my first unit entered the hex. So I estimate the remaining supply being 600-700 each day for the rest of China and 20.000 supplies each month is probably not enough to even feed the 500.000+ Chinese troops in the remaining Central and West China bases.

Japanese Bombardment attack

Attacking force 8369 troops, 287 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 1031

Allied ground losses:
33 casualties reported
Guns lost 2

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ground combat at Suva

Allied Deliberate attack

Attacking force 35859 troops, 509 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 895

Defending force 13719 troops, 62 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 247

Allied engineers reduce fortifications to 3

Allied max assault: 725 - adjusted assault: 440

Japanese max defense: 251 - adjusted defense: 613

Allied assault odds: 0 to 1 (fort level 3)

Japanese ground losses:
325 casualties reported
Guns lost 7

Allied ground losses:

hehe, the 4 wrecked Allied divisions are far from being combat effective. Unfortunately they knock down a fort level but it will take some more time to see the base surrendering... and time is all we need...

yesterday, our recon suddenly showed 200 Allied bombers at the base, I guess Miller moved in bombers to surprise me but due to the airfield damage still being to high they didnīt launch. Tried for days to bomb the base but my bombers refused to attack so I had to send in the cruisers again. But the damage done is... well, the combat report speaks for itself. Of course also the enemy bombers left the base again. Thatīs also a nice feature in WITP (for both sides), ac can fly in and out of bases that are totally damaged... lol...

also the second bombardment is pathetic. Again three DDs heavily damaged for nothing, Iīm pretty sure none will sink though. But would the enemy base be operational and would there be bombers, I guess we would have lost three DDs today... for 6 PTs destroyed and not much more damage...

Two weeks ago, CL Agano joined the fleet and today the mighty BB Musashi left Japan to join the IJN at the front! After the loss of BB Hyuga we now have one BB more than at the start of the conflict...

Miller stays on the lucky side of the flip coin as we moved in a hundred Nells/Betties that all took off to attack the AR/CA/CL/DD TF we tried to attack with subs yesterday but the FAILED to locate the target. It must have been a huge strike as all my daitais were highly fatigued... He getīs away once again...

now thatīs something I like, a couple of 4E bomber groups are set to nav attack and they try to attack shipping at Koepang where they are met by a nice number of Tojos on Cap. Still 100 sitting on the ground but if I just would like to get 65-70% fighters more often into the air... The Liberator bomber crews had low morale and unfortunately turned back soon but the the Fortressī crews push their attack through to attack our APD ASW TF. I was amazed that bombers made it through as I didnīt think it would be possible, not even in Nikmod. 7 B-17 dropped their load but missed our precious APDs which will be moved out immediately again as I donīt want to risk them that way. A nice result today, 17 4Es are lost for no result...

while this TF was spotted North of Derby already and unsuccesfully attacked by 100 IJN long range bombers, it turned West again to end up in the same hex as I-19 which attacked (and sunk ) AR Crown City! Third sub attack on this TF and the first kill!

3:1? A nice result already. We moved an inf unit onto the trails South East of Myitkina so this means there shouldnīt be a retreat path for the British Army. With a 3:1 already we will order a shock attack for the next time... Only the 18th UK division still shows oer 200 assault value, all the bgds and other troops here show 0 av...

1:1 and another fort level down. Yet again the combat eng failed to reduce a fort level - canīt belive it... but weīre nearing our goal, no doubt the base will fall...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ground combat at Chengtu

Japanese Deliberate attack

Attacking force 44375 troops, 532 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 947

Defending force 18294 troops, 108 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 359

Japanese assault odds: 0 to 1 (fort level 9)

Japanese ground losses:
426 casualties reported
Guns lost 9

Allied ground losses:
85 casualties reported
Guns lost 1

ouch, fort level 9. Didnīt expect it to be that high but in fact itīs not really surprising as the enemy had a year time to build them up... no chance for our three bgds to overcome the single Chinese corps that seems to be at full strenght and well supplied... we will have to wait until Sian has fallen and then we have to build up the airfield (only level 1 at the moment) to fly ground attacks against the corps at Chengtu... or we have to move in two more divisions...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ground combat at Kweiyang

One year of war and the news agencies report another Japanese success!

If you can remember, many weeks ago, one of our subs attacked the heavily damaged heavy cruiser Exeter West of Broome and two torps slammed into the ship. It didnīt show up as sunk and I wasnīt 100% sure the cruiser would be lost but after checking the ship sunk list, CA Exeter showed up as sunk by Type 95 torps West of Broome! BANZAI! BANZAI! BANZAI!

Makes it four heavy cruisers sunk during the fighting North of Australia.

Miller moved (probably airlifted) two units to Bulla and Iīve only noticed it because suddenly there were Catalinas flying nav search in this area. The cruisers donīt do much damage, Iīm thinking of taking the island, there are enough troops around to do the job, recon only shows some 2-3000 troops on the island. Currently a level 2 airfield...

British admirality had to admit the loss of another cruiser. CA Exeter was lost all hands down due to a IJN sub attack off Australiaīs North coast. BANZAI! BANZAI! BANZAI!

H. M. S. E X E T E R

YORK-Class cruiser ordered from HM Dockyard, Devonport on 15th March 1928 and laid down on 1st August that year. She was launched 13th July 1929 as the fifth RN ship to bear this name, introduced in 1680 for a 3rd Rate 70 gun ship. The last ship with the name was a Trawler hire for use as a minesweeper during WW1. Build was completed on 23rd July 1931 at a cost of Ģ1,837, 415. The ship had a firm relationship with the City of Exeter throughout her service. This was continued when given to a Type 42 Destroyer on launch by Swan Hunter in 1978.

Do you have any idea what ground units Miller has left at his bomber bases around Darwin? A massed assault by the two para regiments and para-capable SNLFs might do a lot of damage.

Recon tells me of a dozen+ units at all bases, with troop strenght varying between 20.000 and 45.000. Mostly base forces I guess, backed up with some bgds. But the base forces alone can easily hold their positions as they have normally 40 assault points and a couple of them get the base av up to a couple of 100 points so thereīs no chance to achieve something against the Northern Australian bases.

god, how I hate Millerīs timing all the time... While my bombers refuse to attack the base all the time, they do exactly that turn when Miller moved in fighters again... doing recon daily but unfortunately the Japanese player doesnīt have the ability to look into the crystal ball to see air transfers that havenīt even happened when you give your orders... well, our small escort did itīs job and all in all itīs not a catastrophy but it would have been avoidable if Millerīs timing wouldnīt be that good... well, itīs only luck but still. If he would have moved in 200 fighters it would have been desastrous today. When you look at the destroyed ac on the ground you can see again that nearly all Allied fighters scrambled and engaged our strike again...

After one year of war we took Myitknina from the totally starved British defenders. Miller moved out all the Chinese units but the British were left behind as he thought they would retreat towards China but they couldnīt as I cut their retreat path with my unit SE of the base. Thereīs also an Allied unit in this hex and Miller thought it would still work as a retreat path. Heīs still learning the ground war rules of WITP...

A lot of British units surrendered, but most units were totally wrecked already. But there was also the 18th UK division that had 200+ assault value. We scored nearly 800 points for Allied ground losses today, now being at 16.385!!! The ground war is still going good for us...
